Never say never in Football. Offer him enough and I'd say he'd come back. Wouldn't it be wort it to avoid Relegation.

But it isn't happening

You think Man City will still hire him if he relegated us to League 1? lol

His career would be on the line to win the playoffs and get to the FA Cup Semi Final at minimum if he wants to come out with his rep untarnished.

Oh come on lol

It's not happening in a million years. I'll shave myself bald and take Italian classes if he actually comes.

Those laughing at people questioning whether this would even be a good move (if it was realistic which is isn’t), do you understand that it is sometimes about whether a particular person is equipped or suited, rather than just because they have operated at a higher level?

I said further up, he is clearly way out of our league. But that can be true and as well as it being the case that there would be managers less good on paper and further down the ladder that would be better equipped to operating with no funds available and better equipped for scrapping at the wrong end of the league which Maresca is not proven at.

It’s one thing winning the league with the squad we had last time. It’s one thing winning the Conference League and Club cup with Chelsea. It takes an entirely different mentality and skills set, as well as approach to be successful in these circumstances.

As a point, does anyone remember the PES team made entirely of bald players? Not sure Maresca ever made the squad as his hair stuck around for most of his career, but there were some corkers over the years.

Here's the PES 6 (2006) line-up. I wonder how a Leicester XI of bald players would look - I swear Vassell had hair when he played for us for starters. lol

You're not walking into Man City after finishing midtable in the Championship with Leicester City.

Exactly why he won’t and shouldn’t come here then. No Championship side and as such their manager, is being judged on getting the the FA cup semi finals as a minimum! Obviously the playoffs should have been a minimum for us but such as the shambles we are, that ship has sailed and we are left scrapping to stay up.

So yeah, I get the point I am quoting but given that is wholly unrealistic, there’s no reason for him to come back.

So a manager who recently won the Europa Conference League and Club World Cup working with some of the world’s elite players is going to a Championship relegation fight to manage Ayew and Thomas at a skint club and joke heirachy?

Dark outside but I can see pigs flying everywhere

It’s not like he has a huge emotional connection with Leicester. This isn’t Pearson or Ranieri.

I’m sure he has fond memories of the title win but we were his first job, he left after one season, he’s gone on to better things. And despite how things ended at Chelsea, his stock remains high and he’ll have offers from the top clubs in Europe over the coming months.

It is utterly delusional to think he’d come back here, and if there is any truth in the reports we’ve approached him that raises even more concerns about how decisions are made at the club.

He was recommending we have a much needed re-structuring of the club shortly before he left. I doubt the pace and lack of change in the 18 months since would impress him.

Some absolutely mental takes in here. After some of the worst managers and football we’ve witnessed since he’s gone people are still spouting absolute guff about Maresca.

Mostly rightly so, we do not have the funds or the players to make his system even close to effective.

Not to mention the fact he'd have to be several screws lose to take this job.

Ridiculous suggestion all around really. But then I imagine it was posted to get the reaction it has as opposed to a serious suggestion.

Sadly mate, I've been told!

I love my vowels; as is obvious. Even I can't tell if the mods are all cocks or cucks though. Not mutually exclusive of course.

No one had an issue until I revealed my previous identity so the old 'all are treated equal' is evidently out the window.

Make the thread though mate; and know that I travel with you there in spirit; you know my love goes with you as your love stays with me,  its just the way it changes like the shoreline and the sea.

And Steve Agnew better make the side.

There is an argument to be said that he’d be the wrong type of manager for a relegation battle.

He’s someone very set on his system(s) and his way of playing requires a high level of technical and physical ability from the playing personnel… something we’ve already been shown to be deficient in so far this season.

The squad is very different to the one he had last time around (no Vardy, KDH or Ndidi - players that were pivotal in his system) and even the ones that are left from his tenure look shadows of the players they were back then.

This is not to say you wouldn’t take him in a heartbeat if he was willing to come… but if he did, there’s no guarantee it would work out as you envision.

The perspective that's being pushed here is that this is crazy, desperate blind-fold toss into the night. But that's a fan perspective. From a club perspective sounding out Enzo for a short term project isn't as crazy as everyone is making it out to be. Of the names being thrown around, Enzo's the lowest risk. He’s already succeeded at the club, and core players still remember and bought into his methods. That familiarity is important and means less disruption and potentially faster improvements than hiring someone completely new. Which is what we are after: a quick turn around. He could get Winks back onside, get Vesty playing at his best, and he does have some of the core players still here (Ricky P, Fatawu, Mavidivi). It's probably not going to happen, but it does make sense from a club level perspective. Worst thing is he says no. No harm no foul.

Nobody has any doubt that we obviously want him but he in no way whatsoever would want anywhere near us - absolutely mental some of the craziness on here - we have plenty of Luke Thomas’s on these chats - bonkers
