we need power and pace in defence, and the ability to pass a ball out from the back with convinction.
If that back 5 (including GK excluding JJ) play many more games together we've got absolutely fcking no chance of doing anything.

I doubt we have the funds to do a full defensive rebuild though

Wouldn't Aluko fit the bill there?  Surprised he hasn't been tried at CB so far, given how appallingly our current contenders have been performing in that position..

Jack Taylor of Ipswich.

Take him on loan.

Irish International, 28, 6'1".

Box-to-box midfielder.

Had cartilage operation in May, so needs game time to get back to fitness, plus probably won't get in Ipswich midfield in the prem.

You have outed yourself as either James McCarron, Martin Glover or Rudkin himself here

Tommi O'Reilly at Villa looks decent prospect, spend last season on loan at Crewe in league two. Winger/Midfielder, someone who can cut inside well by the sound of it. 22 years old, maybe able to cut in league one. Scored seven goals last year for Crewe, not bad for winger.  Player of the year for Crewe last season.

Another winger? That’s what you think our priority is right now?

If Page unfortunately leaves and the idea is to play Braybrooke as a 8/10, I’d look to take a punt on Mark Helm(Fleetwood) or Matus Holicek(Crewe) as backup.

Both caught the eye in League 2 last season and are in the last year of their contracts.

I haven’t seen love for a player like this since you and Calvin Stengs.

As a starter with Braybrooke being moved to a 6, yes. If Braybrooke remains in a 8/10 position, then Webster is too good to be backup imo.

The best central midfielder i've identified in the last couple of seasons is Besfort Zeneli. Seamlessly moved up to a class as well since going to USG in Jan as well.

Webster not that standard yet but really think he could be.

Agree, went to watch a few burton games last year, granted he had a bad injury keeping him out for half the season or so, the games he played he was by far the best player on the pitch

Bit like me crying every night seeing Mamadou Sangare is now at Brentford, while we’re in League 1 with Oli Skipp.

Braybrooke

Chaplin - Webster

That’s a quality looking three at this level, but I think anymore midfield business that we do could depend on how Braybrooke is viewed positionally.

I’m baffled we haven’t heard any real links at CB since last Saturday. I know deals can often work very much in the background but to hear nothing at all is pretty concerning.

Last weekend at CB was about as egregious as it gets. If that’s not a call to action to sign someone, what is?

That's about my entire list.

With under two weeks to go. There's no chance. They're leaving us short again.

Under 2 weeks to go agree we are now going to run out of time. Think at best we get one CB in and Faes out then stick with the rest. Leaves us short at CB and striker. Probably also lose Page so short at CAM also. Skipp will end up covering CB. Hope we are wrong…

Not sure we are short (other than height) at CAM. Some may not be our preference but Cullen, Chaplin, Alves and BDR can play there.

Agreed the CB situation is a mess. Ingrained failure will mean we continue to be poor defensively without shipping some out and bringing fresh faces in. And striker is a lot of pressure on a guy who has come from a completely different league.
