Another small note, we’ve been absolutely terrorised by Japanese and/or Korean players this season  maybe we should sign one or two!!

What has King seen at any point this season that made him think we could shut up shop and hold out for 30 minutes. 
we saw the difference between an experienced manager and a coach on work experience today. 
Like manny others I genuinely wasn’t surprised when we f-ed that up and that is the biggest worry.

That would require our scouting network to actually scout and our DoF to actually listen to said scouts.

Watched the goals back again this morning, god the defending for the first 3 is awful. The set piece defending is dreadful, we seem to swarm to the ball and all miss it. 

 

4th goal Nelson should do better but also should go down when the elbow starts flying. I am surprised the ref didn't blow given he'd been giving any touch at the that point of the game as a foul

Nelson should do better for 3rd (it was clearly his man as well and Okali looks wrong side of his man that scored) and 4th (soft awful defending), possibly even should react quicker for the 2nd too (although I don't know what Begovic was doing for that one).

I can’t decide what we should have done second half, and don’t fully understand modern tactics, but maybe we should have done what they did to us at their place ; they were 3-0 nil at half time against 10 men but didn’t make any concerted effort to go on to thrash us and instead sat back - I dunno, their players listened to their manager and coaches and stuck to the plan in that  game ? 
please get an interim manager in immediately!

Terrible wasn’t it- their first was probably key, and it was clever movement by their forward to nip in front of Caleb, but he should have been more aware

Has anyone mentioned Dakas 2nd half sitter? Looked easier to score. He had a good first half though ; best since Moscow.

I feel like our idea was to sit back but the changes Southampton made at half-time strengthened them significantly. We didn't react to this and when we did, we've made a bonkers change bringing on a CB for a winger. The last position we should have been in is having to defend our box for 30 minutes as all season we've proved we cannot soak up any concerted pressure. Honestly one of the reasons we looked good in the first half is that we didn't really have to defend.

Totally. Okoli never beats an attacker, must be one of the worse defenders I've ever seen, and Nelson time and time again seems slow to react (that's on top of the 3rd and 4th goals). All the back four was horrific (again).

Without making a mountain out of a molehill, that second half could be a real sliding doors moment in the history of the club. Time will tell if it’s for better or worse.

My mate on our groupchat said at 3-0 he was still worried and i laughed..

Sums us up we cant hold onto a 3 goal lead.

All players, coaches, and owner/directors need to take accountability for that shambles of a 2nd half. The problem is, nobody will, and it will be a case of picking the same players and letting the same thing happen until the end of the season.

 

It's a repeat of 3 years ago when we got relegated when there was no fight as everyone knew they were getting their big money moves anyway. This season we have 12 players' contracts expiring in the summer (including loans) so of course the fight isn't going to be there. A few others will know they can or will leave in addition to those 12. And then the remaining players are the kids that have been thrown in probably 2 years before they should have, and none of whom are actually good enough.

 

On top of that we have an interim manager clearly out of his depth, who is also the person that led the squad for most of pre season, so can the poor fitness levels be pointed that way?

 

And then we have the talentless bunch of people at the top responsible for allowing the club to get into this mess..

It's not Nelsons fault though remember, its the players in front of him and next to him.

Yes that set piece coach is worth his weight in gold. I’ve got an idea, in pre match meeting allocate a player to mark an opponent man for man, that way you won’t see Luke Thomas up against a central defender (as has happened). If they score it’s his fault. Set piece coach wages saved. And whilst we’re at it, leave Fatawu and Mavs on the halfway line to empty the box a bit.

King getting blamed, but it's the players, no desire to close down crosses, from Fatawu, Pereira or Page on first 2 goals, Nelson was pathetic on the 2nd and 4th, or to do the basics of defending. 

 

Enough posters wanted 3 at the back, Kingy went with too early but there is absolutely no excuse for the players regardless of formation. 

 

To bottle a 3 goal lead is criminal, everyone at the club should be fined 2 weeks wages.

The frustration for me is the complete disparity between the two halves. That first half was everything we can and should be. That second half is what we've become

I don’t think anyone doesn’t care, but the passion can dwindle for sure. I wouldn’t say I don’t care, I do, but my passion manifests itself in complete delusion to what’s happening before our eyes.

 

Things are getting that bad, that it’s hard to even see what will provide a temporary arrest…… I don’t think any self respecting manager will want to job, unless they want a nice pay packet.

 

We are such a state it’s hard to see wha the next step is. 
 

The only clear objective is the selling of the club, that’s the one thing that needs to happen.
