The EFL is just dogshit. Most of the games I’ve watched over the last three years, even under Enzo, were ****ing terrible. Sometimes, in 90 minutes there’s not a bit of football played.

I detest this level of football, always have.

I'm not sure what you expect? Teams have small budgets, EFL isn't for the purist.

Is it just me or do the EFL highlights have a serious audio (mix) issue?

I watched the Wednesday-Bradford summary, and the commentary is drowned by the stadium atmosphere.

Which is part of my repeated point. We've only played one game and we've already got people crying about our manager and wishing to be like Sheffield Wednesday.

I genuinely hope that I’m wrong but as @Pliskin rightfully said earlier, there are so many red flags for Martin, I’d throw in us as a club too.

Martin’s persistence with his brand of football when playing Okoli and Souttar will consistently see us create “key opportunities” for anyone that we’re playing against.

We have proven that we don’t actually know how to build a balanced squad  and let a manager have too much influence.

I’m genuinely worried that we have such limited resources yet spent over a third on a pointless signing like Cullen.

We have zero athleticism across the starting 11 minus JJ.

Will any of the above change whether it’s one game or 20?!

We are one game in. We didn't lose. It's not much, but there are still 45 games to come. Let's all just cling to hope that we'll see some personnel changes at the back and some attacking football going forward.

I can't take another season of negativity from the off (and I understand, even agree with a big chunk of the why, as I did last season). It's just ****ing draining. Following your team should be something you enjoy, not endure. Even if just in flashes.

Untill we see some prolonged positivity on the pitch and off the pitch , I expect their to be negativity and a draining feeling amongst us, we all feel that way!, we are hugely underperforming in all aspects as a club and it’s difficult to get over it until we see some prolonged positivity on the pitch. If we win a couple in a row wouldn’t it be nice!

Spot on mate.

I really want to start enjoying anything remotely LCFC related but really can’t at the moment.

We haven’t appeared joined up/have a clear strategy since Enzo.

Compare his Summer window to any others.

He binned Thomas, VK, Soumare instantly as they couldn’t play his style of football yet one of his first signings was Mads who excelled with the ball at his feet.

Obviously the Coady/Winks signings didn’t turn out like hoped but there was at least an idea behind them.

I love how cliché we are that every season people on here trot out the tired old "standard of this league is shocking."

I guarantee there's a post saying this for at least the last five years, for the PL, Championship and now League 1.

I'm not sure if we think we're superior to everyone else, or it's an addled brain of watching peak PL/UCL or FIFA games to compare.

It's league fvcking one, I'm not sure what people are expecting? If you watch 90% of the football games outside of the standard highlights it'll be run of the mill.

Im not sure what people are expecting, the Premier League hardly churns out 10 games of pure class and edge of your seat action week in week out.

Last night's game wasn't a classic but it was a good entertaining watch for most parts with Wednesday coming out the blocks fast and Bradford having to work hard to get back into the game. There was a bit of needle and the ref let a lot go which added nicely to the flow of the game.

Its football, people need to find a way to just getting back to enjoying it.

I expected nothing of the quality of League One football and I'm still repulsed by it

They still watch it though don't they. "Football is shit nowadays" "EFL is shocking standard". So boring.

There’s been decent positivity across the forum generally over the close season, considering the past 2 seasons.

I think people are quick to label many on this forum as negative but firstly, there’s all the reason in the world to be as you have said yourself, and also I think it’s got to the point where some (not saying you) just see genuine criticism as a blanket negative, even if that is part of a balanced viewpoint that has both positive and negative aspects.

If we see some positive changes on the pitch, most people will definitely acknowledge this and the swing will become more positive overall.

I'm not calling anyone negative at all. Certainly not as a criticism. I also feel like that, but I don't want to or think I can for too much longer. If anything I'm trying to rally myself as much as others to hang in there.

I agree with all that you are saying.

So, I'm guessing you're a big fan of women's football?

Missing one of our starters from last weekend.

Other than that, we are ready to go!

Well, I barely am. Really should try to get to bed a bit earlier for these starts.

Aren't Luton one of the favourites too?

Maybe we aren't as awful as I was expecting!

Probably just jinxed us lol

Edit: yep!

It's really hard to distinguish league one play from league two.

It's probably just us dragging it down lol

Don't think there's too much in it between League 2 and bottom third of the Championship in all honesty. Most team's are pretty solid in their play, with limited technical ability. Gap seems to open up a bit above that and Championship top 6. Top 6 are generally a bit more consistent (top 3 generally are consistent and semi decent), and then PL is just on a completely different level altogether.

I would always think it was funny when you guys were in Championship and would complain about the quality of it, as it looked brilliant to me lol

Buy yeah, just going from one league up you have a lot of the same standard of players and the same 'scrappy' play.

I’m pretty sure there were people on here who posted that we shouldn’t get relegated from the Prem because of how dire the quality was and should have won the Europa and Conference because the quality was shite too.
