Apparently the FA wanted a ban but the Independent committee ignored their advice .

“The FA had proposed a three-month ban, but the commission gave credit to Eckert for what they called "considerable mitigation in this matter, most particularly around the genuine contrition".

The FA is yet to confirm whether it will appeal”

They got kicked out of the playoffs and given a points deduction for a offence nowhere near that, fact they were looking to add anything on top is ridiculous to me anyway luckily common sense prevailed

Expulsion from the play-offs and a points deduction is a hefty enough punishment. Everyone will move on from something I doubt had that much of an impact on the match.

I guess the biggest blow might be to Eckert‘s reputation had he been found guilty but has probably been viewed as a club problem rather than individuals and obviously Southampton already have been which is fair enough .
