I do think we need to sell Souttar, but given Nelson's injury we have probably - rightly - put the brakes on his move to Sheff U. Wouldn't surprise me if we tried to convince him to stay in light of this, or at the least had a gentleman's agreement that he stays until we are able to source a replacement starting CB.

 

Souttar and Okoli to start the season isn't a bad CB pairing for L1 if we're being honest.

Souttar and Okoli to start the season isn't a bad CB pairing for L1 if we're being honest.

if he stays, Souttar will be the best centre back in League One this season and will significantly improve our chances of promotion. Him with Nelson would be a dream partnership, but him with Okoli wouldn't be bad at all. There's no reason whatsoever for us to let him go on the cheap, no matter how much Chris Wilder wants him.

Can’t comment on Martin but I’ve met the others and I found both O’Neill and Roger’s arrogant.

In contrast to Pearson who was a gentleman.

Honestly Wilder has done them no favours here, he has out massive pressure on their board to put the signing through and has specifically named their CEO as negotiating it. Our price should go up a couple million just on that basis alone, it’s gonna look really bad on their ceo if they can’t sign a league one centre half and their fans are already seemingly running out of patience a bit

A few years back, my lad moved up from Cornwall to Bristol aged 16, to do a coaching course at Ashton Gate, including playing football competitively too. 
 

As you can imagine, it was a bit daunting for him, especially as all the other lads in his group were from Bristol and knew each other. 
 

One morning he saw Nige in the car park and plucked up the courage to speak to him, telling him of course how he was a big Leicester fan and obviously a big fan of Nige too. 
 

My lad said that Nige was really friendly and spent quite a while chatting to him about his course and how he was getting on etc. 

 

After that, every time Nige saw him he would make the effort to speak to him

and check on him, even organised for him to be a ballboy at a couple of the first team matches. 

Obviously my lad just loved the guy even more and I really respected him and appreciated his efforts. 
 

Still probably my favourite Leicester manager ever, still got a soft spot for MON though, of course.

Yeah what a great guy. Where my lad was staying was about 45 minute walk from the ground, a couple of times Nige saw him walking back and gave him a lift.

Think he wants him to stay but understands what 10m could do for us at this level tbh, we could buy two centre halves who could do a job at this level and the championship for that fee

We have signed Cullen for a fee and also looking at signing Bristic also for a fee..I'm not sure this is correct.

Before we bought Cullen there were a few who confidently predicted that we wouldn't spend a penny on transfer fees this summer—it would be all freebies and loans. It's easy to make sweeping statements when you haven't got a clue what's actually going on.

We've had a few statements over the summer like that, rather than sitting back and looking at what is happening.

 

'Russell is getting lied to like the other managers.'

'We haven't got this 10 million to spend.'

'We won't spend anything.'

'We are stuck with Winks/Vesty etc'

Clubs are clearly low balling us with the expectation we'll fold late in the window and they'll get a deal. They're obviously not remembering that we have Rudkin masterminding player valuations.
