Joking aside, he'll probably do a job in league 1 but we need to get away from these signings and start signing young talent. any young talent we get we sell sharpish, to fund the wages of the old, farts, has beens, and damn right awful senior players, we cant get off the books. its sad times.

Instinctively that just tells you even they think it's not a particularly good signing. I'd rather we had players you were happy to see tied down for a while rather than ones where we're already counting down the days until the exit. not really, this is the sort of signing that Pearson used to make all the time: Phillips and GTF the obvious comparisons, but also Hammond, Dickov in 2008, Berner, Chris Powell, Wasyl. honestly even cambiasso or fuchs (even if he left before fuchs could play for him). All were good deals because they were short term and not on stupid wages, senior professionals to complement a youthful squad and drive standards. If they'd been on long contracts with big money, then you're back into the BdCR or Ayew territory. speculation on wages (coming from West Ham who also give stupid money out) is the red flag currently. obviously it will be a problem if Rudkin then thinks the striker position is sorted. 7

One of the better takes i've read on here. It's fine if he's second fiddle. Its horrible if he's our main striker. 1
Sly Posted 9 July Posted 9 July What is Nicky Maynard up to? Maybe we can play 4-4-2 and partner him with Ings.
JimJams Posted 9 July Posted 9 July His West Ham wage is largely irrelevant though isn't it? It might be what he's been used to but it's not what he's on. We only need to pay in line with whatever other offers were on the table. And his WHam salary wasn't.
Manwell Pablo Posted 9 July Posted 9 July He’s completely shot, I’ll die on this hill that is not a good signing. I watch Sheffield United a lot and you wouldn’t know he was in the game whenever he turns out for them. 2

An action that would usually see you do prison time. 4
Jobyfox Posted 9 July Posted 9 July Yeah!!! This is the signing I wanted … …. about 7 or 8 years ago. But not now!!!

Should imagine he won’t be anywhere near the money West Ham had him on, similar to Daka with his scoring record, there’s no chance he ever gets the money he had here unless the Saudi’s are stupid enough to take a punt.
RedSoxUK Posted 9 July Posted 9 July Love this. Good off the ball, high work rate. Excellent first touch and eye for goal albeit not the fastest. Ideal for a Martin based system as an option, not a 46 game season man but I don't think that's the expectation. He'll compliment someone else coming in, and can work well in a two. Reckon hell thrive under Martin. 4
Dan Gliballs Posted 9 July Posted 9 July Pretty uninspiring signing for a Championship team, but actually decent for a League 1 team, the caveat of course being he stays fit. On his day he's the clinical striker we've been missing since Vardy left. You'd fancy Ings with a clear cut chance infront of goal, you always thought Ayew or Daka would fluff it.

LVFox Posted 9 July Posted 9 July Sheff Wednesday sign Louie Barry. We sign Danny Ings. Weve learnt nothing - we continue to make the same mistakes. A horrific joke of a club 4

He’s the right kind of player 100% Hes just shot, I don’t know how else to put it, people look at his age and think 33 ain’t that old. he’s done and needs to retire. Too many injuries, not got the genetics to have a long career. He’s done, done done. 1 1
