If we start the season well with academy graduates doing well, would tempting bids come in for the likes of Braybrooke and Alves? 

 

Braybrooke and Alves seemed ready under Rogers. I want to see them playing for us this season.  

 

What level of bid would we accept?

Actually have a niggling doubt about Alves. Pretty sure many scouts would have looked at him over the years. If he hits the ground running i think there could be some suitors who would be willing to take a punt.

For all the turmoil, there is every chance we get promoted and they are Championship players next season. If Russel Martin is a good coach Leicester is the right place for them this season.

I think we need to wind it in a bit…… Alves hasn’t managed a string of games yet without getting injured, and Braybrook has only excelled at league 2 level. It’s exciting that both have an opportunity this season? But I think some fans expectations of them and our other academy players is misplaced.

The fans expectations of players like Winks, Skipp, Faes, Vestergaard, Ayew, BDR, Mavididi and Daka being solid championship players was misplaced.

 

I think after a year of watching that lot it is fine to be excited by players who have genuine football ability and effort.

 

There is already interest from championship clubs for Braybrooke so it's not even a hypothetical of whether there is a risk that they will be taken off our hands if they start the season well.

The gap between League 2 and League 1 isn’t massive like the jump to the Championship or Premier League, so Braybrooke should be completely fine. As for Alves, he’s already shown he can score and assist at Championship and League 1 level.

 

Looking at his loan spells across Cardiff and Huddersfield, he played 1,436 total minutes and registered 3 goals and 3 assists—roughly 0.38 goal contributions per 90. If you scale that rate across a full 46-game EFL season, he projects to 8 goals and 8–9 assists (about 17 G+A overall). Obviously nobody actually plays all 4,140 minutes, but as an underlying output rate for a young player, around 17 goal contributions over a campaign is really solid.

 

That said, Alves does have a habit of picking up injuries, even if he managed a decent run of games at Cardiff. Given he’s unlikely to stay fit for all 46 games, we definitely still need to bring in more wide players.

They were being touted as option in the Premier League a few years ago. If it doesn't happen for them this season then you'd question if it ever will.

 

For the record I think both will shine.

They have had a handful of preseason games (or half games) where they have stood out, along with a few others.

 

They are under contract, both had terrible injuries and haven't done anything above league one level of note. I hope they both have a great season, play 20-30 games each and shine for us, if they do then worry about their contract situation next summer - the chance of selling either of them now I suspect is close to zero.

Clubs will want to see If they can do it for the best part of a season.

I’m not trying to be negative, because I would much rather watch a team of academy players, trying every week and give us a team to be proud of again, even if they’re losing week in week out, than watching the likes of Ayew amble around the pitch. 
 

All I’m saying is there needs to be a sense of reality….. regardless of the lads little experience around the leagues, this is a vastly inexperienced group, and the pressure here is much different than the likes of Huddersfield….. it’s very likely Notts County will beat us comfortably on the opening day, because they’re likely to have more EFL savvy players, and probably be well up for it, and the lack of experience in the group could be exposed during afternoons like that. 
 

They could go out and smash it out of the park, but you’re asking for a very rare scenario where a team full of mostly academy players comes together and produces something spectacular…

 

Anyway, even if they have a good season, they won’t be going for big money, those days are long gone, there’s not a PL team in sight that would be interested in Alves of Braybrook. They are miles off that.

Not only is that half of the starting 11, but we need to develop sellable assests.

The same Notts County who scraped past Chesterfield in the league two playoffs?

 

Chesterfield whose far and away best player was Braybrooke, meanwhile we have multiple players of similar quality.

 

It won't be close between us and Notts County. Maybe they stick enough men behind the ball for a fluke win but we have far more quality.

Who’s coming in though? We aren’t spending any fees for players so we’re shopping in the free and loan markets….. I’d be surprised to see anyone else come in before the season starts, and if they do it’s likely to be a free and they will need a few weeks to get up to fitness.

Depends on what you mean by ‘academy’. Remember Stolarcyk, Nelson and Thomas are academy graduates. If you mean recently progressing from the academy then I agree. The 3 above plus Alves, Braybrooke and Page is over half the team though.

No. Both Braybrooke and Alves come with big concerns over fitness and ability at higher levels.

 

They're both uner contract and the club will hope for big things from them. I can't see another club paying what we would want to receive for them, especially if they take to 1st team football with ease in League 1.

I would not see a realistic offer for any of them until the jan window after a consistant number of games.

 

By that time if the take over is real and moved on or close to concluding id expect the owners to vito it. If its close to a done deal now again they could stop any sale or pull out.

 

The upshot right now none of us have a clue as we don't know what stage the sale of the club is at. The interested party could be a storey to try and push others to make a bid.

 

Personally after the bollox Top has said over the last few years i,ll believe nothing until it happens. Other than we know financialy we are in the shite.
