The ability to appear immenseley arrogant and self assured in and around the game, whilst delivering heinous **** ups and performances that cost goals, games and relegations without the approach or urgency appearing to change. Faes, Souttar, Okoli, Skipp, Ayew, Thomas, Vestergaard and others all have/had this in spades. No noticeable change in approach or style at any point despite all evidence pointing to the fact that they need to change. This is why me, and other Leicester fans i think, have slowly just fallen out of love with the players and the club. The sheer inability to recognise failure and to adopt a new style and approach is just not something we've come across at scale before and its permeated every part of the club. 

The fact we are STILL splitting our CB's and passing across our 6 yard box in League One. Still signing players who think, but can't prove, that they are above a league means that Faes is the poster boy of the whole shitshow. 

Keep giving the ball away directly to the striker for goals? Carry on

Keep getting caught out of position in transition? Carry On

Have no capacity or tactics to go long or be more direct? Carry on. 

 

For footballers like Faes on massive contracts, i think its this consequence free-ness that alienates them eventually. 

 

Anyway - **** him of to Turkey. He can even donate his barnet to all the visiting scousers getting a hair transplant.

I mean yeah finances are always boring but they're also pretty relevant to the club's current issues. It's obviously something important to people and rightly so, fans have ignored the money for far too long, shrugging it off as "well it's not our money" when actually it very much is. 

 

Book values aren't exactly complex, you make out like they were some nebulous concept that people were wildly guessing at. 

 

By and large, transfer fees are fairly well reported when a player moves clubs. Even when the official announcement is "an undisclosed fee" it's nearly always widely reported what the deal was. And the club always announces how many years the contract is, that's always accurate public knowledge. 

 

So it's not like people were just making up strange numbers by pure guess work that were miles from the truth. And understanding what a players remaining book value was went a long way to understanding why we were struggling to sell some of them or just simply couldn't. 

 

TLDR: still seems a bit of a weird thing to get your jimmies rustled by my dude

Surely Dennis Wise when he was doing all he could to make the club go into administration because he was told he couldn’t go around hitting people.

thing was,  i understood dennis wise, just a little aggressive ratbag, and decent footballer. Whereas faes is a gen z version of unaccountable willy puller - not even encumbered with a temper to blame for his indiscretions just an immense sense of entitlement.

I don't like Faes as a player, never have. Some of that may be down to my personal prejudices on what a CB should do, but I consider his character and player profile totally wrong for what we've needed in his time here, want him gone, and am mortified by the idea that I'll ever have to endure him again.

 

Still, I don't hate him. Apparently he's a nice chap, and there's probably a club out there (though far fewer, and at a way lower level than, say, hfaes would wish to believe) where he'd do a job.

 

Mr Wise, on the other hand, was (in terms of wages at least) an expensive signing who was awful on the pitch, immediately caused problems off it, seriously injured one of his team-mates in an alleged breach of discipline, then sued the club and tried to put it out of business. That takes some beating, in terms of both pure malice and how rubbish a signing he was.

I think it was Faes that Martin was referring to in his press conferences to be honest. Said something along the lines of some players wanting to leave but not currently even knowing where or what level they'd have to accept. Sounds a bit desperate to me, but maybe that suggests he will just leave if he gets an opportunity. Might just have to drop his expectations to do so. Shame Monaco didn't want him back, as that would probably have removed the wages issue.

So Faes was signed in September 2022 for £15m on a five-year contract which hasn't been extended, so his contract runs out next year and his remaining value is around £3m.

 

Last season's loan to Monaco included a €7.5m option to buy. At the end of May, Monaco were supposedly keen to make the move permanent but wanted to renegotiate the fee because they failed to qualify for the Champions League and TV revenues have dropped for Ligue 1 across the board.

 

I imagine we're trying to hold out for as much as we can get and I suspect if Monaco, or anyone else, approach us for anything around that £3m mark, we'll sell on deadline day.

But could matter for the owner and his plans to sale, a healthy combined amount in for Souttar, Mavididi, Okoli, Faes, Hamza and Skipp would help make the finances look better.

 

There is more consider than just sustainability rules.
