Disappointing but hardly surprising. We still have that mentality around us that we arent going to see games out and that comes with the culprits at the back. 

 

Equally they were the same players who caused us issues within the game. Once we have given the opposition a couple of chances and we grow into it we look good. Reid cant be the focal point of our attack all season but he will get goals.

 

This was always going to be a tough game, we know the momentum a promoted team can have, there also one of the toughest teams to play against. 

 

I genuinely believe come the end of the transfer window we will be in a much better place. We will concede some sloppy goals throughout  but I think we will be pushing towards the top.

We all know lower league football is direct physical, no nonsense football so we appoint a manager that plays possession football moving round the back, that achieves nothing, I can see that is flawed and so can every team we will play against this season, is isnt rock science. 

 

i listened to Fuch on Radio 5 telling it as it should be no nonsense direct football,.

 

We play over complicated football, puts your own players under pressure, they will make mistakes, the other side know that, they just keep pressing till you make it, they get their chance, they score and we lose moral, cause we kept the ball for so long and gained nothing.

A huge rebuild with nothing new on the pitch despite only 5 of the opening day squad last year being the same and a new manager

The major problem will remain Brussel’s tactics - completely wrong for this league and arguably wrong for any league.

Today remind me of the Coventry home game under Enzo first game of the season, won but should have lost.

I'm glad there's at least someone else level headed , we had moments where we played them off the park , if we had an actual striker up front for first 60 mins we'd have been 3-0 up

It is his fault for making them minboggling subs, playing McCarthy, bdcr and Thomas and persisting with playing out from the back with a team that has no idea how to do it

We need to understand that we are a cup final match for most teams this season. Everyone is desperate to beat us and turning up with 75% effort isnt going to cut it.

Playing out from the back is great if you have the high level players. I can't understand why managers are insistent in making lower league players do it. Skipp and Reid were woeful facing their own goal. At least Reid shown for it, which was more than anyone else did but he was awful receiving it.

Some urgency , speed and attacking threat be nice ! Style of football is so bad it’s painful.

I don’t think the style of play is necessarily the problem, after all Cardiff got automatic promotion with style of play whilst also scoring the most goals in the league. The difference is we are missing the right profiles throughout the team to both play this style, and provide balance. 
 

A ball playing centre half and a better holding midfielder than Skipp and the team would be transformed. I think we could also do with a midfield than provides some athleticism should Page be sold. 
 

My main concern is that Martin sticks with ‘his’ players like Cullen and Burns as regular starters, which based on today’s showing leaves the team short of the athleticism needed to be a success in this league.

I’m not panicking yet as the player turnover is so big and there’s still clearly players to come in and leave. I was certain we’d lose today based on that and the absolutely broken nature of the club. 
 

Was it good? God no. Can I imagine it getting better? Yes. Will it? Time will tell. 
 

Any of our teams from the last two seasons would absolutely have rolled over and got beaten today, regardless of how poor County might have been. They were beaten mentally before every game.

The only person you can trust is Braybrook to receive the ball really needs to make some changes in the middle by removing Skipp and putting Alves in the middle with Watson on the left

The players are not good enough to play this style. In particular Skipp and the center backs.

 

If we can't change the personnel (which it doesnt look like we can) then we should be changing to a style that does suit the players. 

 

My concern is that Martin has already shown at previous clubs that he will stick to his system rather than adapt. Which means I think he will fail here unfortunately.
