A different perspective perhaps, without denying the myriad problems that we have whatsoever. Last season, Burton Albion beat Cardiff City away in September. Cardiff looked really awful but were promoted fairly easily by the end.

How is this in anyway comparable?; they were 3 points better off than us at this stage of the season and I highly doubt we are going to have a similar run to them.image.thumb.png.9899108d36b5f5a4c041eae6d11a6eac.png

The money we paid for Okoli should buy a title winning squad at this level. The profligate waste of money seems to be continuing on this display.

thats true.....but the big but is BBM at cardiff used players who could play the style, we've got at least 5 in that starting line up who cannot play it(Mccarthy, thomas, souttar, okoli and skipp)

Martin's god complex needs to be cleared soon as

The team hasnt been fully fit since at least 2020 and i’d argue even longer. Its been one of the biggest issues in our recent history.

Spot on I have heard coaching staff at other clubs comment on it and identify they target it. The big question is why and why does it continue through so many lead coaches. Surprising how often pundits used it on match of the day last night about some EPL teams. It seems to be a sea change in football and it appears to be one of the few areas we lead. I have long believed it’s the back room sports scientist academics.

Didnt help pre match showing the clips of being premier league champions. Seemed a horrible reality check where gone from then to now. As much as i like that opening i dont think they should show at the present.

I've been thinking for a while or looks a bit sad now. Over ten years later we're in our worst ever position. It's embarrassing harking back.

Got to wonder what the important and valuable lessons were he referred to last week as we somehow managed to be even worse against Burton.

He started, then seemed to self-tone it down slightly, to go down the route he went at rangers where he was castigating the team in post match interviews almost from the get-go. Doesn't ever seem to reflect on his own performance or decisions.

The clubs dead, just watch us in the 90’s

Sad but true. So hard to get any young fans interested in watching us when we are so bad. There is literally nothing left to support and watching the games is a thoroughly miserable experience.

I see fitness gets mentioned time and time again...

Just done a bit of searching on Google maps.

We don't have proper running tracks anymore, it's not just us, iv looked at a few other training centres and none seem to either.

But the point is, .. is that the way now? Just treadmill running?

I know players don't need to run marathons,  but at least some stamina 🫣

Martins words.... run run run 🤪

You don’t need a running track to get fit though do you! lol

Lots of pitches at Seagrave to run round if you wanted to put on running sessions.

I agree with a lot of people on here though, the players aren’t as fit as they should be - I’d love to know what they’ve been doing fitness-wise over pre-season.

I actually think we look fitter than last season (maybe not Howes but he’s not been with us long). I don’t think that’s our biggest issue. We were attacking long into the 2nd half. There is no one who won’t look a little gassed after that.

Our issue is most of what we do leads to nothing. 1 shot in the 2nd half isn’t down to fitness. It’s down to the set up and approach.

I had a very depressing drive home yesterday but you know after a nights sleep & a good walk this morning I now feel even worse !! It has all been said before but we simply do not have the defenders to play in the way Martin dictates & he will not change. He speaks a good game but he is a one trick pony with no clue if that fails. Every other Lg 1 team knows exactly our MO & will force errors etc  from which we will concede. We cannot stand up to the press because our passing from the back is either too slow or inaccurate. Again Top has to take responsibility for Martin, he has wanted him before but the fans made their feelings known, but he went for him anyway. I note he was not there to offer any support for either the club of his appointed coach. The only glimmer of hope is that we do have some talented youth. If he still here with Skip suspended Page should get a chance. I thought he looked direct when he came on.

What an utter car crash. Wish the window had closed before we kicked off, as I think our squad should look different and I'm clinging to hope that will make us look less like relegation candidates.

I can't believe I'm even contemplating this, but for the time being I think we'd be better with Skipp and Okoli out with Hamza and Faes in.

Yeah, I know...

Ideally they'd all leave and all would be replaced...but that's not going to happen, is it. Also not enjoying Souttar, he looks so panicky and pretty horrific right now. Doesn't suit the system at all.

Burton looked more solid in defence than us, and when they won the ball they were faster & stronger going forward than us. I felt they had more chances than us, and better ones too.

Their number 8 was really good & influential. Can we swap him for Cullen?

I don't even know anything about Burton... starting with where abouts they are in the uk

Just over the border with Leicestershire - north-easterly direction - 27 miles (about as far as Derby - same direction). They're now our local derby rivals, them and County, for the foreseeable future. We can forget about Cov, Forest and Derby - unless we meet them in a cup game, and then not so much rivals as underdogs.

Incidentally, Burton-on-Trent is the beer brewing capital of Ingerland - once the home of 'Bass' and 'Marstons' bitters, but that was before Yankee brewery concerns couldn't leave a good thing be.

You've highlighted my point well. Cardiff were in a good spell but still lost to Burton Albion at home (and had been beaten convincingly at home by Bradford City, just over a week before). As I said, I'm not denying we've got problems that need to solved ASAP,  that's obvious, but if we address the immediate on field issues, let's see where we are in a month or so, say.

This.  Employing him was bad enough; a 3 year contract was insane.

Definition of insanity to keep doing the same things over and over again and getting the same outcome and not realising why ..... nothing will change whist top and king power are the owners ... quite clear to me Rudkin is running the show and his only interest is himself and nothing else

Maybe for watering the cabbages which call themselves professional footballers

Really liked their number 8. I thought Alves did well, always enjoy watching Braybrooke too. New striker has bit about him but we have one striker at the club so it’s win or bust on him.
We don’t go up with Martin and I think he lasts no more than 6 weeks.

I thought that not renewing my season ticket would've emotionally detached myself from the club. Sadly it hasn't. Can't switch off and walk away. So, so depressing :(

I saw the result and thought "that's it for me now" but I'm sstill doomscrolling' through this thread hoping to find a crumb of comfort and finding nothing.

I've supported City since 1960 so that emotional involvement isn't going to go away without a lobotomy. I think Top should pay for counselling for all us fans. Or eff off, him and Rudkin, and give the club to a supporters consortium - because it's clear most of us know a damn sight more about football than those two imposters. Football isn't business and it isn't a hobby. It shouldn't be about moneybags foreigners splashing out their extra cash on some fun new pastime. But money talks - much to the detriment of our national game.

we usually kick the other way first half

wouldn’t surprise me if it was on automatic and no one thought to change it
