I feel a bit for him. Bristol City snapping up both Tolaj and Ballard stinks of just wanting the shiny new toys. By signing both not one I mean. And Riis has been cast aside as a result.

 

I don’t want Tolaj and Ballard to flop but it’d be nice if Riis could smash it and put up the type of numbers and more that they did last season in this league and they don’t exceed his numbers in the Championship.

Yes, I haven't really been observing Ballard there but Tolaj doesn't exactly look like he's hit the ground running there yet re seeing the highlights of Saturday's game, even if early days, whereas Riis has here, albeit in a league lower. If he's instrumental in getting us out of this league at the first attempt then Bristol's loss in our gain! I think he was their second lead scorer last season as well, which although I appreciate he appears to have made way for the two new signings, it still makes it strange why he left and all the more surprising with him droppong down a level, despite our improved contract on offer here compared to Bristol's too I guess!

He’s had a very good game but let’s not get ahead of ourselves… up to now the strikers have been starved of service and one swallow doesn’t make a summer.

 

So far he’s scored twice from 0.7 xG - we need to create far more in the 6 yard box for both him and Bristric.

We need to bring Alves in off the wing replacing Cullen and play Watson on the Wing. Alves will not only score a few but he'll set up others because his close control is so good.

Yes I could see that working also, He's a bright prospect who can get up and down the pitch. I just think he needs to learn when to go and when to hold.

Admittedly he hasn't had much of a chance yet, but looks another good player as we continue to edge out the older lads.

He's scored one goal from distance, the way you've posted you'd think he'd just completed his 10th from distance for the season! 

 

I'm going to see where he's at after 10 appearances - can't be any worse than 2 in 10 but I wouldn't be surprised if it is 2 in 10! 

 

I just can't see us creating chances when teams don't play against us like Stockport did.

We need to be a horrible team' - Emil Riis issues challenge to Leicester City youngsters

Leicester City striker Emil Riis has spoken out after the club's dramatic 4-3 away win at Stockport County and his own goalscoring exploits during the game.

The 28-year-old was signed on a four-year deal at the King Power Stadium and has been slowly building himself up to full fitness after a pre-season hit by injury issues.

 

Speaking after the game, he was delighted to get on the scoresheet for his new club and City fans will be hoping it's a sign of things to come.

He stated: "It was good to get minutes in the legs again. I only played an hour of pre-season before I joined here; I was injured for all of it."

 

Grinding out a result was the order of the day for the Foxes, and the new signing was keen to stress that the club need to learn the dark arts of the game if they are to get out of the division.

He said: "I'm happy with the win, and I'm happy with how we played a lot in the game. Even in the end, I think we fought well. They came in the box and had some chances, but we dug deep and fought as a team, and that's what we needed last week, and I think we showed that today.

 

"We needed to fight more as a team, win second balls, and do the dirty part of football as well. We can play beautiful football, but we also need to be a horrible team to play against. So that's what we were talking about, and I think we showed that at times today, definitely.

When quizzed about how the young lads were responding to that side of the game, he feels that they need to learn quickly, guided by the more experienced players in the side.

He observed: "Hopefully, playing academy football going into men's football is very different, especially in League One, where you're going to get some nasty tackles.

"Some of the young boys probably haven't experienced it, but they play really good football and are going to have to learn it. If they can learn that, we've got a really good chance, definitely."

 

Clearly relieved to be back on the scoresheet, the striker talked about the contribution he made to the game and how he was pleased to be back among the goals.

He stated: "I saw Louis Page running with the ball, and the gaffer keeps saying 'be in front of the goal, be in there. He tried to pass it to me; it came to me in different ways, but it was bouncing, and the keeper came out, so I just thought, let me chip it.

"Then obviously for the second one, I drifted to the side, saw the defence drop, so I thought, take it inside and try my best, and luckily it went in.

"It's been a while since I scored a goal. To finally get that again and help the team that way - that's absolutely why I came here, to score goals. So, to help the team that way, yeah, I'm very proud.

"We had a lot of good things today and some things we need to work on, but now we can work on that during the week and hopefully make a better performance than we did last week."
