One lucky win and we just all wanted things to be turning. Absolutely no such luck 1
Russell sprout Posted 5 September Posted 5 September Just change this shit boring passive formation and football, go 3-5-2, be direct and play 2 up top, but more chance of elvis making a comeback than that happening

Its not his usual standards. Burns legs look gone and Reid just lacks anything that can contribute to a goal. He's not getting any time and the pressure is telling. The ideal sub would be Lundstram for Reid and put him at the base of the midfield. But he's not in the squad so there's that idea down the shitter.
dillonpanthers87 Posted 5 September Posted 5 September Wish we'd stuck with Rowett. Martin out unless we turn this round and win more games imminently, otherwise we're going to be mid table at best come end of season I know we can't afford to sack and who would come etc. etc. 1

Crying out for an actual 10 with some guile in that position today went unnoticed with the complaining about the handball but getting dispossessed from the kick off is a new low

Grebfromgrebland Posted 5 September Posted 5 September Well Oxford could have scored about 4 just then. We're not good enough really to play this system. Have to get it front to back in 2-3 passes otherwise we're a bit screwed. 1

I’m convinced not actually having a manager we’d have got more out of these 5 games. 2

accessory Posted 5 September Posted 5 September Apart from Joseph, none of the team have turned up so far today. Burns and BDCR are off the pace, but so are the so-called "wonder kids" Alves, Page and Braybrooke. This manager now has options on the bench. He really needs to use them to save this.

And I say that as somebody who hoped/expected he'd actually be ok for us 3

They are ignoring everything they did well last game and a style that played to Page and Sammy's strengths. It's like playing World of Warcraft without any armour or weapons. Martin is making everything way harder than it needs to be. Thomas at CB playing Enzo ball and controlling the tempo on the halfway line, Reid and Burns who can't pass and can't run, full backs that are never in position to either provide support or defend, Alves standing unmarked because Thomas can't use his right foot.

Alves basically made something happen every time he's had the ball. Braybrooke also not given the ball at all so not sure what you expect them to do 2
DJ Barry Hammond Posted 5 September Posted 5 September 1 minute ago, Richmondfox said: He has changed it completely from what worked last game. Thomas is controlling the attacks and can barely make a pass into the middle. Page has to get scraps if Sammy or Reid manage to bounce it back under a press, last game he was the one driving forwards and controlling our tempo. This should've been a switch after 20 mins, I doubt he will change it in the 2nd half. But that’s because Oxford have stopped Page getting the ball - he’s not been available. Same sort of thing is happening with Alves, they’ve bottled him up; so it’s down to Martin to adjust our shape / player positioning to get these two into the game more. We also need to sort out our link up play with Riis - I get why he started, but this was always a potential problem of chucking him straight in. 1

Thomas is standing on the hallway line and smashing the ball into Sammy. Page needs to get the ball out the back and run, but he's not be allowed. This is a deliberate change of tactics and it isn't working.
