The talent isn't the issue so we've got every chance, even with a manager that makes us weaker. I think a lot will ride on if Stockport score one of the few chances we'll gift them in the first 10.

I'm clinging onto the faint hope that Martin remembers that when he won the play-off final against Leeds he did so with a more defensively solid formation and approach (back three, 40% possession) & that being pragmatic doesn't necessarily mean he has to completely abandon his philosophy. However, he doesn't appear to have shown any inclination to learn from that game since, so it's unlikely he'll do so tomorrow. 1

My main worry isn't about who he picks but how he sets us up. I get the impression he still doesn't think there's anything wrong with his approach & that he just needs to tweak the personnel for it to work. Which likely means we'll continue to ask McCarthy to play out from the back when he clearly cannot do so. 1

His post match comments were contradictory boll0cks. He said we lost the game in the first 30 mins or so, and then said the problems was taking off the experienced players and replacing them with energy. We went down 1-0 in the first half because Souttar has no pace and didnt give a stuff, and Bobby and Burns were useless. The experienced players cost us that first half. If we could have got ourselves into the game then it would likely have panned our very differently.
