Brainy Posted 20 April 2007 Posted 20 April 2007 PELE If Lua Lua was offloaded cheaply maybe we could get him But he wouldn't want to join a League One club.
lee7 Posted 20 April 2007 Posted 20 April 2007 had a lot of problems with beating up his wife or something like that
Blue Bob Posted 21 April 2007 Posted 21 April 2007 The wonderful website football rumours has the following rumour on their site today. So for everyone who is worried about our current situation please dont be as the future seems to be very bright. Shame most things posted on Football Rumours is b*llocks but it brightened my day, hope it does yours to. Enjoy - "Even if Leicester go down, Milan Mandaric is thought to be willing to invest £10million to get out of League One and will put in a further £10million to get into the Premiership, once City re-establish themselves as a Championship club. Then expect City to be sold to Serbian Billionaire Miroslav Miskovic - with the aim of doing a Chelsea. "
Blue Bob Posted 21 April 2007 Posted 21 April 2007 Make no bones about it, Mandaric will already have his contacts getting players aware of Leicester;s interest. The problem is, with the threat of relegation, things might have to be put on hold because the class of player we'll be able to attract, very much depends on what division we will be in. I am sure that MM has got plans in place and is doing work behind the scenes to make things happen. What is good is that he keeps quiet about things until they happen - such as the Worthington appointment. Unlike Dowie who is prooving what an idiot he is by bragging to the press about what he is doing, all it takes is for a bigger club to get wind of what is going on and they sign the player instead. I am sure we would all like more info on what is going on but if that means we run the risk of losing quality signings then I would prefer MM to keep quiet and unavail the players when the window opens again when they are signed, sealed and delivered.

davieG Posted 21 April 2007 Posted 21 April 2007
JOHNSON EYES CHANCE TO JOIN ROVERS
BY CHRIS SWIFT [email protected] 08:00 - 21 April 2007 Leicester City midfielder Andy Johnson is poised to sound a come-and-get-me call to his home town club Bristol Rovers. The former Welsh international was heavily linked with a move to the Memorial Stadium a year ago when his contract was up at West Bromwich Albion Leicester then moved in to snap him up on a one-year deal, and it looks certain that the 32-year-old will be on his way out of the Walker's Stadium in the weeks ahead. New Foxes chairman Milan Mandaric has ordered a player clear-out whether or not Leicester survive their battle to remain in the Championship. A source close to Johnson has confirmed that the Brislington-raised player would be keen to end his career with the Pirates, the club he has supported since he was a youngster. Although Rovers were keen to land him 12 months ago, they knew they would face an uphill battle competing with a club from a higher level in terms of wages. He was also targeted by a number of other Championship clubs. Johnson has made 21 appearances for Leicester this season despite a spell on the sidelines because of injury and recently won back his place in the Foxes' first-team. He started his career at Norwich City before making a £2.2 million move to Nottingham Forest in 1997. His £200,000 switch to the Baggies followed in 2001 and he played a major part in helping them win promotion to the Premiership in 2004.
Fez of Mahrez Posted 21 April 2007 Posted 21 April 2007 Leicester City midfielder Andy Johnson is poised to sound a come-and-get-me call to his home town club Bristol Rovers. The former Welsh international twat was heavily linked with a move to the Memorial Stadium a year ago when his contract was up at West Bromwich AlbionLeicester then moved in to snap the willy puller up on a one-year deal, and it looks certain that the 32-year-old mongoose will be on his way out of the Walker's Stadium in the weeks ahead. New Foxes chairman Milan Mandaric has ordered a player clear-out, especially of dickheads like Johnson, whether or not Leicester survive their battle to remain in the Championship. A source close to that twat Johnson has confirmed he is a twat and that the Brislington-raised player would be keen to end his career with the Pirates, the club he has supported since he was a youngster. Although Rovers were keen to land him 12 months ago, they knew they would face an uphill battle competing with a club from a higher level in terms of wages. He was also targeted by a number of other Championship clubs, whose scouts must have major eyesight problems. Johnson (the dolt) has made 21 appearances for Leicester this season despite a spell on the sidelines because of injury and recently won back his place in the Foxes' first-team, albeit because the rest of the midfield are wankers. The moron started his career at Norwich City before making a £2.2 million move to Nottingham Forest in 1997. His £200,000 switch to the Baggies followed in 2001 and he played a major part in helping them win promotion to the Premiership in 2004. He is now f**king shit. Refreshingly opinionated.
Mort Posted 22 April 2007 Posted 22 April 2007 ...it looks certain that the 32-year-old will be on his way out of the Walker's Stadium in the weeks ahead. Thank God for that!
Geo V Posted 22 April 2007 Posted 22 April 2007 That sums up far too many of our players. When one is linked away or finally moves its usually to a club in a lower division!
AyewJoking Posted 22 April 2007 Posted 22 April 2007 Sorry if this has already been discussed in this thread but out of the teams who get relegated from the Championship, Luton, Southend and please God Leeds, are there any players you would like us to take off their hands? David Healy of Leeds springs to mind, also Eastwood from Southend but I think they will charge over the odds for him. Or are you of the opinion that if these players were any good, would they really be getting relegated?
Mort Posted 22 April 2007 Posted 22 April 2007 David Healy of Leeds springs to mind, also Eastwood from Southend but I think they will charge over the odds for him. Healy would be a big risk IMHO, better to go for a decent striker who's proven and consistent... as we will be looking for a striker in the close season (assuming we are safe of course!), Jason Roberts had been somone I'd seen as a potential target but now he's getting games and goals that looking less likley... on Eastwood, see Healy i seem them as risks at best (!), certianly more so than Sharp or the lad from Gills (Jarvis???) and I'm not convinced on either of them anyway... so probably not.
Bryn Posted 22 April 2007 Posted 22 April 2007 Was just watching Birmingham playing I was thinking, what's gonna happen to Maik Taylor? Quality goalkeeper but he's out of favour at Birmingham and if they go up they might wanna sign someone new... I'd love to see him here. I wouldn't take Eastwood purely because I think he'd cost loads, but if the price is right I'd take him like a shot. I think Varney might be a more realistic hope than he or sharp though, considering he is a Leicester fan and Crewe have always been a selling club. I'd deffo take Healy as well.

Or are you of the opinion that if these players were any good, would they really be getting relegated? I'd take Kevin Nicholls but that's your lot. There's a reason why those teams are down there. Eastwood is a classy player but he's too similar to Fryatt and Hume. We need a striker with more presence and ability to get on the end of crosses. Possibly Campbell-Ryce as well at a stretch but I think he's really overrated.
Brainy Posted 22 April 2007 Posted 22 April 2007 May I add that we also need a striker who can score goals, consistently.
Fez of Mahrez Posted 22 April 2007 Posted 22 April 2007 May I add that we also need a striker who can score goals, consistently. Champion idea.
davieG Posted 22 April 2007 Posted 22 April 2007 May I add that we also need a striker who can score goals, consistently. Now you're just being plain silly, what about tradition does that mean nothing to you?
MC Prussian Posted 22 April 2007 Posted 22 April 2007 May I add that we also need a striker who can score goals, consistently. And may I add that we also need a few midfielders who can actually deliver passes up front, consistently.
Webbo Posted 22 April 2007 Posted 22 April 2007 i'd definately take Cresswell back, i know he didn't do much last time he was here, but he's just the sort of striker we need and i think he could do a job in this division.
Geo V Posted 22 April 2007 Posted 22 April 2007 Kevin Nicholls just went back to Luton after a disaster spell with Leeds. I doubt very much that he would move on again. If Sanchez keeps Fulham up I reckon that Healy will end up at Fulham. Eastwood is a quality finisher and was quoted as saying he will move in the summer and would even go to a better Championship side which does open the door for us a tad as not many Champ clubs could pay £2m or thereabouts for him. Whether MM would sanction such a deal for one player is questionable though. Other than those I cant see too many quality players in the bottom 3 clubs that would improve us. Robbie Blake and Cresswell are OK players at Leeds but they arent much better than we already have. BTW, I see that Coleman is linked with a return to his former club Palace. http://home.skysports.com/list.aspx?hlid=4...p;channel=& Maybe its time for MM to have a word first?

Nah mate, Nicholls is still at Leeds. Will leave in the summer. Doubt he'll go to a League One club. We've got a good shout IMO and he would be a decent signing.
