Need more then 11 players Tommy  plus Handcomb don't want to keep wicket anymore he only took over in gloves in 2023 to boost his chances of Ashes selection. Regarding Salary Swindells not on a huge amount  and it's important to keep some local academy lads at the club

Would guess so if Hull can't manage 4 overs he's not going to play a championship  game and think Holland  still playing in the states for another couple of weeks

He kept wicket for Victoria a few months ago, I'm sure if required through necessity he'd do it, plus there's Hill. I'm sure he's not on a huge amount, but just seems a bit of a waste of money

He's  a good team man and would do it needed  but he don't want to do it on a regular  basis  plus with the captaincy  and leading batsman he already has enough on his plate

Why no Van Beek? At this rate we'll have to play Salisbury and Walker again, with Hull and Holland also missing.

There’s no reason I can think of why Van Beek couldn’t play. We’ll need him to lead the attack. An attack of Van Beek, Scriven, Mike and Ben Green is good enough. I’d be tempted to ask the groundsman to make a dust bowl and play Rehan and Trevaskis. Chris Wright is fit again too.

There is a reason he's registered  as an OS player so unless Masood or   Handscomb don't play you can't play 3 OS  I posted earlier don't understand why he was signed as an OS and not a domestic  player maybe they can now register  him as non OS not sure

I think it's related to Brexit and the "pre-settled" stuff, Dutch players already at clubs before that happened like van der Gugten at Glamorgan are alright and dont count as overseas but anyone coming over now without a British passport needs a visa and therefore does count as overseas.

Not sure about that Dutch players have played as domestic players since then like De Leede at Durham who signed last season we also had a Dutch player on trial in tne 2nds last season Ryan Klein

A Google search suggests De Leede qualifies as pre settled and non overseas because he played for the MCC for a bit.

 

Klein must either also qualify somehow or have been trialling with a view to an overseas slot.

Is this to do with residency rules? There are lots of players who have played club cricket for a few year and marry someone over here and then qualify as a domestic player. Maybe Klein was looking to do that as I've heard of a few SA pros in local leagues who go down that route, meeting the 210 days a year for three years criteria. I believe that Zafar Gohar of Middlesex, qualifies to play for England at some point this year, because of a similar scenario.

Swindells also captains the second XL, which is always an underrated role for what is a very young second team that we have at the moment.

Got to say I think that Sky have the T20 commentary team set up correct. Knight and Cork have improved over the years, Lydia Greenway is a good female choice and Daggers, Butch and Simon Doull are always excellent.

 

Not a group you would naturally throw together but it seems to work.

The Sky team is good and they support the "lesser" counties well.

 

In regard to Van Beak, he'll be a miss, comes across as a nice bloke as well, but a rest won't do him much harm. He's played a lot.

Anyone have any ideas on who we may use to bolster the One Day squad?

 

We'll not have Hull and Ahmed and wouldn't surprise me if Kimber gets a wildcard, especially if he can find one bit knock at his box office pace. So probably ok for numbers if everyone is fit but may be a chance to give some fringe or young players game time? Alex Green seems likely.

 

Maybe Maddy or Gumbs who've been on trial in the seconds? Not sure any of our own academy players have been banging the door down in the seconds but may be wrong.

We can't be dropping Logan can we? Him and Holland have the 2 most wickets in the division 2 championship (54 between them). I have just watched his interview with Rehan after last nights game and he seems like such a top bloke. He is also averaging nearly 30 with the bat With Holland in the US Mahsood will have to sit this one out I would hope.

The side would be stronger  with Van Beek playing esp with Hull and Holland unavailable. However would be a big call to leave out Massod esp with what they are paying him. Be interesting what they decide to do

A strength of the side has been that we bat deep with Mike, Scrivo, van de Beek and Green all genuine all rounders plus Holland and Ahmed frontline bowlers who also bat in the top order maximising our options.
