lookwhaticando Posted 16 May 2007 Posted 16 May 2007 Can someone tell me why this "rumour" has become so big. It was in the Yorkshire Post and a couple of mentions in FansFC.comother than that, nothing. No major newspaper, Sky Sports or BBC have suggested that this might be on the cards from what I've read. It's not had chance to do the rounds yet. Besides, it was only this morning that they announced he was going. The major papers might pick it up for tomorrow's sports news.
STUHILL Posted 16 May 2007 Posted 16 May 2007 Can someone tell me why this "rumour" has become so big. It was in the Yorkshire Post and a couple of mentions in FansFC.comother than that, nothing. No major newspaper, Sky Sports or BBC have suggested that this might be on the cards from what I've read. The rumour has become big because MM tried very hard to sign Warnock as manager of Pompey 2 years ago, so he is obviously an admirer! I think when the papers get hold of this tomorrow, then he will be on eof the front runners!!
Fez of Mahrez Posted 16 May 2007 Posted 16 May 2007 Well I don't see what other reason you'd have. You make some decent points about his managerial skills but IF he did succeed then that wouldn't be an isssue, so why? He's from Yorkshire? He complains a lot about referees? He's shagged your wife? Perhaps it's just a personal thing. One of my best mates is a big Sheffield United fan, season ticket holder at Bramall Lane and knows his football. Him and his mates have wanted Warnock out for years now. To me Warnock will first and foremost be a massive Sheffield United fan and any rants at officials and passion he might show on the touchline will be tainted by the fact he will be wishing 24 hours a day 7 days a week 52 weeks a year that he was still managing Sheffield United in the Premiership. If they'd have beaten Wigan he would still be their manager. I don't want long ball football. I don't want a million strikers at the club. I don't want loads of players at the club who never play a first team game. I don't want a manager who blames everyone but himself when things go wrong. Mandaric's money is a huge chance for us and I am desperate for a manager who will be careful in who he signs. One look at Warnock's record in the transfer market and people should be scared off. This is nothing to do with what he said about us in 2002/3. I don't even know exactly what he said, though it's not hard to guess. Everyone was having a pop and he was fully entitled to have a go, especially as manager of the team immediately below us in the league. If you've read some of my posts in the GF&S section in threads about him and SUFC in general, I actually quite like Warnock. I went down to the Valley to see Sheffield United with my mate a few weeks back and I was thrilled that they equalised and hoped that they'd stay up. But to me Neil Warnock will always be Sheffield United and we are effectively second best (except of course... £).

We didn't see that passion in the biscuit wars did we?
lookwhaticando Posted 16 May 2007 Posted 16 May 2007 Fairy snuff....it just semed that everyone is getting quite polarized over this one article. We didn't see that passion in the biscuit wars did we? The lack of passion in the biscuit wars cost me my mighty Dodger the title. I am not bitter. Hopefully this whole rumour thing will become a little clearer - if it surfaces in the papers tomorrow, there might be something in it. If not, it's the Yorkshire Post adding two and two and getting pi.

lookwhaticando Posted 17 May 2007 Posted 17 May 2007 Grr Ginger Nuts 2&2/7 = pi What's Suffolk_Fox got to do with it?
SystonFox Posted 17 May 2007 Posted 17 May 2007 i havent read the whole thread but here is my sentiments - i hate warnock for whatever he said in 02/03 about us cheating, so i joined in with the neil warnock what a willy puller chants last season and the one before. nowt wrong with that? however i have gained respect for him since he's managed in the prem as he did lay off with the bitching and biting about every decision, i think this is because he knew he was punching above his weight with sheff utd. no offence to them. would he be a good manager here? yes i think he would, he knows what kind of player needed to get promotion cos he was trying for god knows how long but they only just missed out. he does well with money i think. the bad points are, like fez said, a million strikers, players who never play (Luton Shelton - £2million - where was he?!) and he also cant seem to accept responsibility. the market for our new manager is wide open now Milan, i hope you pick the right one!
AyewJoking Posted 17 May 2007 Posted 17 May 2007 What an anti-climax it will be if we get Warnock. A thousand times better than Nob Kelly but how long did it take him to get Sheff Utd promoted? How long did they stay there for?
Guest Posted 17 May 2007 Posted 17 May 2007 Radio Leicester are reporting that he's close to agreeing a deal, and to "watch this space". Lisa is not a happy bunny.

Leicfox Posted 17 May 2007 Posted 17 May 2007 Well alot of you who say he's got bad man management skills will do well to watch the documentry he was in a few years back following him around the club and training pitches, because if you do watch it im sure alot of you will change your opinion, He's very very professional in what he does.
Daggers Posted 17 May 2007 Posted 17 May 2007 Did someone mention Biscuit Wars? *** 5live interview *** He stated that he fancies "One more challenge at in the top flight" Top flight, eh? Hmmm...I'd say that's not us then.
Leicfox Posted 17 May 2007 Posted 17 May 2007 He's still fav for the NI job too, with Wortho and Nicholl chasing him.
JoeyB Posted 17 May 2007 Posted 17 May 2007 Leicester are keen on Neil Warnock after he left his job as Sheffield United manager. (The Daily Mirror) from bbc newspaper bit

Master Fox Posted 17 May 2007 Posted 17 May 2007 Says on radio leicester its a done deal. I don't want my season ticket anymore. I'm willing to sell it at half the price. Any takers?
Dr The Singh Posted 17 May 2007 Posted 17 May 2007 I don't want my season ticket anymore. I'm willing to sell it at half the price. Any takers? I will offer you 250 rupees!!!! DOn't be such a drama queen, think of all the fun you can have at hurling abuse at Warnock, it will be like sitting in the away end!!
Dames Posted 17 May 2007 Posted 17 May 2007 I don't want my season ticket anymore. I'm willing to sell it at half the price. Any takers? Go and throw it in Warnocks face like that Boro Fan did to McClaren.
Lillehamring Posted 17 May 2007 Posted 17 May 2007 call me a cynic but, the moment that warnock comes here the MM honeymoon will officially be over - NW is a short term solution at best, only possible saving grace is if he comes with someone in place as an assistant to take over in a year or so. lets not forget that portsmouth had many managers thru MM, and it was only after getting redknapp that it worked - is NW as good as redknap, well i can't stand either of them, and i don't think redknap will ever get them in europe, and it's clear that NW is even as good as him. lets hope if MM does chose him, he can do a job and then.... kindly F.O.
Master Fox Posted 17 May 2007 Posted 17 May 2007 I will offer you 250 rupees!!!! DOn't be such a drama queen, think of all the fun you can have at hurling abuse at Warnock, it will be like sitting in the away end!! No deal. I want 450 I never thought of it like that, but now that you mention it.....might be quite enjoyable. I'm thinking of buying the new kit and getting 'We 8 Warnock' printed on the back!
Ultra Posted 17 May 2007 Posted 17 May 2007 I have made a decision. The willy puller is not worth me spending my time on. i refuse to wither away my evening trying to convince people he is dog shit. I have better things to do with this slightly grey and damp evening. And also as a final point IF he is handed the job to manage my beloved leicester city i will not be attending any matches next season - be it a promotion chasing or relegation fighting season. Thank you and good evening. You won't be on your own. W*****k will be here for a payday, same as the poison dwarf was. He's hated our club for over 20 years, ever since we beat him 6-1 in an FA Cup tie. So why the hell does Mandaric think he can do a job as our manager?
Ultra Posted 17 May 2007 Posted 17 May 2007 Well he attracted enough players to get them promoted, that's all I care about. He also took them down again. FFS, his record is no better than that of Micky Adams!
Master Fox Posted 17 May 2007 Posted 17 May 2007 Right, When NW walks out of the press conference everyone needs to be standing outside chanting ‘We Want Warnock Out’
