The whole question is not made easier by not knowing who is genuinely interested in taking the job.

But the more I think of it and the more people I either reject in my own mind, who others pursuade me to reject or who reject themselves the more I'm left with the following:

Manager: Simon Grayson.

Assistant: Steve Beaglehole.

Grayson has been successful from a standing start at a backwater and on limited resources, his team have played good football on the way, he has plenty of footballing experience at adecent level, carries no baggage and was a successful player for our club.

Indeed the big thing about Grayson as I mentioned previously is that he seems to achieve more than one expects rather than less - a notable quality.

Beaglehole has also had success, knows the youth international scene and knows the players at the club now as well as anyone. He too believes in playing attractive football so, as a pair, he and Grayson should compliment each other.

They both perhaps lack a little outward glamour but MM is perfect for that and these two seem to do a lot of their talking on the pitch.

I doubt they would cost as much as an ex-Premiership man like Coleman yet I see no evidence to suggest they'd be more of a risk and would have the major incentive as a potential path to the Premiership.

Davies has apparently ruled himself out, Ince is a no no, Warnock seems to want a Premiership job but has hardly excelled himself and has already had a verbal go at the club.

There may be someone else in the wings we've not even considered but as it stands with the supposedly known candidates, that's my preference - unless perhaps George Burley became an option.

Between them I think we might get the right blend of decent players in the team and the sort of football MM and the fans would like.

We might also build something which. while it might require personnel changes, would perhaps not require a total strategic change should we win promotion, as might well be the case with Warnock.

I am liking the idea of Thracian's management. Leicester legend, and successful Leicester City Youth boss.

Mandaric: Taking his time over appointment

Mandaric admits Warnock interest

Leicester chairman Milan Mandaric admits Neil Warnock is on the shortlist to become the club's next manager - but has not been approached yet.

But the Foxes supremo insists no contact has been made with the former Sheffield United boss.

Warnock, 58, left Bramall Lane by mutual consent on Wednesday after seven-and-a-half years in charge.

The Blades were relegated from the Premiership on the final day of their first season back in the top flight after losing 2-1 at home to Wigan.

Warnock, who expressed his desire to return to management as soon as possible, was immediately linked with the post at the Walkers Stadium.

Mandaric told the Leicester Mercury: "Neil Warnock is a good and experienced manager and may be under consideration. But I have had no dialogue with him or anyone else.

"He is only one of several on the list I will be considering. As it is such an important decision I will not be rushed."

lol the natives have turned on warnock before he has arrived! Funny reading in the Merc there!

Football management is difficult enough but to have a manager join a new club when half the fans dont want him is really risky. The whole point of a new man incharge is for optimism, excitement and confidence and as much as I would say I would like him here from what is available, I wouldnt want him to turn up if so many fans are anti his arrival.

All I am going on in the poll on here and the few comments in the Merc but it is a concern that so many people dont want him here.

BTW lol at Grayson and Beaglehole. We have more chance of Cagney and Lacey!

Bollocks is it.

It's 400+ posts consisting of the likes of Babylon saying "we don't know who'll do the best job once they get here" (bravo) and hundreds of others going "he said unpleasant things about us, and signed Akinbiyi" and so on, ad infinitum.

You obviously haven't noticed Dames is reaching the 100 mark, where he repeats

  • He has no respect for Leicester
  • I cannot forgive him after the comments he made when we went into administration
  • He's a twat
  • Hes achived nothing
  • He does't have the ability to sign Premier League players
  • He's spent 1.2m on Ade Akinbuyi

Grayson would surely bring Tony Parkes with him anyway, as he's been so instrumental in giving Larry advise, so the Beaglehole idea is flawed.

Stop taking cheap digs and grow up.

Thats my view live with it.

I don't see you taking a pop at the other people that have said they don't want him here and similar things to me ?

Yeah, thing is, everytime somebody says he might be good, you have to make them aware that hes a twat, etc.etc.

Are you seriously saying there is not one positive if he became manager?

Posted

No not really.

Hes so uninspiring its unreal.

Were a team thats in need of a massive rebuild and his record in the transfer market suggests he might not be able to do that.

Its a transitional period and we really need someone who will come in and know what needs doing in order to balence the ship.

A man who wastes money like Warnock is not that man.

I just spoke to my bookie and he gave me odds of: 98838736798573892709587298367598698547598748965298347923874 : 1

You wouldn't like to put me a quid on would you? :D

I'm yet to see anyone present a good counter argument to Fez, really. He put in a nutshell everything I wanted to say about Warnock. The man's one of the most grossly overated managers about, why this is even being considered as a great venture is beyond me. I really, honestly, 100% don't understand anyone who'd want Warnock.

Funny you should say that. I was just scanning the thread trying to find someone put forward a constructive argument in favour of Warnock. I can't find one.

Now I don't like all this referring to the stuff he said when we went into admin as an argument against him as that, for me, has absolutely no bearing on whether I would welcome him here. The reason I don't want him is purely because I don't know why I would want him.

What qualities does he have that any of the other candidates don't, apart from a big f**king gob and a distinctly average record? :dunno:

Exactly! ...he's at best "ok" with a dire record in the transfer market and a "so/so" record in general in terms of games, he's just not that good... like Pearce some people favour him coz he's a "prem manager" and there's somthing speical about that for some, the same might be said of Coleman but he's displayed more nouse and ability that Warnock ever has! (and dont get me started on Pearce... who's just crap!).

don't know if this has been posted before, just seen it on TB.

Yeah thats on that documentry i watched im sure of it, and like i said before if you did watch it you'd realise how professional and passionate he is, but i dont think anyone is disputing that fact.

Yeh no-one could ever question his passion and comittment! I do have to question his transfer dealings though! Last season when they got promoted, he signed anything and everything he could to get them up! I don't want someone coming here and wasting a few million on crap! I want players that are able to play in the Prem!! I want to see Leicester sign players like Derby did in the January window! Exciting, quality players that put players like Hughes and Hammond to shame!

Yes keep slagging Hammond who at least put some time in and made an important contribution.

I suppose you're another who see Fryatt as a much maligned hero. The guy who it never quite happened for.

The guy who was always going to have a good game sometime soon.

Don't you just love kicking certain people.

Why don't you change tack and start kicking people who did fook all.

Errr hypocryte comes to mind!!!!! All you have done these past few months is 'slag' Fryatt off!! Hammond will never be succesful at this club, and you must know this if you have any kind of footballing intelligence, however, Fryatt although a very dodgy season has the potential, a word you should know well as you like young boys so much, to become a very good striker!!

I might have used Fryatt as an antidote to the sort of totally biased shit I read on here but there remains one main difference.

For all his supposed potential Fryatt contributed damn-all this season, relatively, and Hammond contributed quite a lot.

And all the distasteful innuendo in the worth won't deflect away from that fact.
