Simi Posted 12 July 2007 Posted 12 July 2007 Daily Mail Is this going to spark another, "Who Should Be Captain Thread" . DJ Campbell had a decent scoring record last year, looking at the stats. Not surprised by this because of the history himself and Allen have together. Hopefully a good signing.
Daggers Posted 12 July 2007 Posted 12 July 2007 Bruce has admitted that he is trying to generate more funds, and Stephen Clemence's £750,000 move to Leicester City was today finally being completed.Should DJ Campbell also go to the Foxes - his transfer was today said to be close This was earlier today in the Birmingham Mail.
Mort Posted 12 July 2007 Posted 12 July 2007 Its the "late interest from Charlton" that worries me... as soon as Clem and Campbell are safely ensconced at the Walkers I'll feel a little bit better, the press conference must be because of it being a "double signing" and Clem being announced as skipper...
majestic fox Posted 12 July 2007 Posted 12 July 2007 atleast its not coventry interested this time like they always are after we say were interested
Wasyls Pec Deck Posted 12 July 2007 Posted 12 July 2007 I think a case could be made for Clemence being the most important/exciting signing we've made for yonks...we finally have someone with proven credentials in the middle of the park , if DJ joins too, exciting too, altho it will surely mean someone will leave, as were starting to amass a lot of forwards!
Blue Bob Posted 12 July 2007 Posted 12 July 2007 To add to the speculation to could be to announce the signing of Clemence, Campbell, Morfaw, Hendrie and Fowler. This will be the end of our signings. Well I can dream!!!!

Blue Bob Posted 12 July 2007 Posted 12 July 2007 Krikey...calm down!!! Fair point. There is still no announcement on the OS about a press conference. I have had a scan on a number of other sites and they have no mention of it either so it could just be another wind up.

Although the story in the Mail concurs (link above sumwhere!)

Sods Posted 13 July 2007 Posted 13 July 2007 It better be clemence not dj campbell (yet), i wouldnt class campbell as a majour signing and i would be totally worried

Soar Fox Posted 13 July 2007 Posted 13 July 2007 According to the Daily Star Charlton are battling Leicester for the signature of DJ Campbell
Mickey O'Neil Posted 13 July 2007 Posted 13 July 2007 I'm very pleased with this. I thought Southampton or Charlton might have gazzumped us. We even got the yellow 'Breaking News' bar on Sky Sports News!
Sooper Steve's shin Posted 13 July 2007 Posted 13 July 2007 scratch that, i've got pilates at 9.45 in the am You can get some cream at Boots for that...
pazey69 Posted 13 July 2007 Posted 13 July 2007 I think we need to sign DJ to be honest, i really hope charlton don't get him! hurry up milan and sign him!!

We even got the yellow 'Breaking News' bar on Sky Sports News! i know! how cool is that! previous poster mentioned that charlton are after cambell. It doesnt concern me because DJ will know clemence is a good player and will prob want to work with him again, he obviously knows MA as he took him out of non league football.. We just have to find the right package for brum to accept...
Lester LXXIV Posted 13 July 2007 Posted 13 July 2007 I'm very pleased with this. I thought Southampton or Charlton might have gazzumped us. We even got the yellow 'Breaking News' bar on Sky Sports News! Woohoo!! That means we're up there with the "Tevez is signing for Utd, no he isn't, yes he is, no he isn't" and the "Sheff Utd are definately relegated, no they're not, yes they are" stories! The whole country is probably happy to hear some different news for once!
Bryn Posted 13 July 2007 Posted 13 July 2007 I hate Sky Sports News sometimes... a Championship club makes a signing and it barely hits the airwaves... a Premiership club signs a new tea lady and its breaking news...
Simi Posted 13 July 2007 Posted 13 July 2007 Charlton have got.. Todarov Marcus Bent Edit : Varney Iwelumo Campbell might have more of a chance getting in at Charlton.
dandannieldanok Posted 13 July 2007 Posted 13 July 2007 According to the Daily Star Charlton are battling Leicester for the signature of DJ Campbell FFS why can't they be satisfied with Todorov, M Bent, Varney and Iwelumo. Piss off Pardew.
Thracian Posted 13 July 2007 Posted 13 July 2007 wooooooooohooooowe got clemence. ok NOW im excited http://www.lcfc.premiumtv.co.uk/page/Lates...1072409,00.html If he thinks he's going to be playing every week then a) he doesn't think much of the competition he's got and b) there won't be any point in some bloody good players staying around, seeing there'll be one available midfield and lots of potential contenders. Already I think Martin Allen's biggest problem is going to be keeping everyone motivated and properly involved. During Kelly's spell the realistic contenders for team places were fewer and a good many squad members must have been glad of their inflated wages because they'd have known they hardly justified a team place. Now it's already clear that whoever Allen picks some fit, focused and capable players won't even be on the bench. Choosing the team on merit will be vital but won't be easy considering some will probably not get any sort of realistic chance. Big squads? They cause as many problems as they solve and this one will be a real challenge for Martin Allen.

But we don't. So it's all bollocks.
bringbackWalshie Posted 13 July 2007 Posted 13 July 2007 i'd rather have a big squad than 16 pro's on the books. We'll have 2 teams this year and players are really going to have to perform to keep there places. If their not happy with a bit of competion they can f**k off.
