Simi Posted 13 July 2007 Posted 13 July 2007 Check this out. http://boards.footymad.net/mboard/fmb.php?...;mid=2132696939 They certainly seem dissapointed to of lost him. (Nearly)
Fox Genius Posted 13 July 2007 Posted 13 July 2007 If he thinks he's going to be playing every week then a) he doesn't think much of the competition he's got and b) there won't be any point in some bloody good players staying around, seeing there'll be one available midfield and lots of potential contenders.Already I think Martin Allen's biggest problem is going to be keeping everyone motivated and properly involved. During Kelly's spell the realistic contenders for team places were fewer and a good many squad members must have been glad of their inflated wages because they'd have known they hardly justified a team place. Now it's already clear that whoever Allen picks some fit, focused and capable players won't even be on the bench. Choosing the team on merit will be vital but won't be easy considering some will probably not get any sort of realistic chance. Big squads? They cause as many problems as they solve and this one will be a real challenge for Martin Allen. Or maybe he just has cinfidence in himslef, a great attribute to have IMHO
Durnerz Posted 13 July 2007 Posted 13 July 2007 ' DJ Give us a song 'I'll get me cloak. He'll have defences in a spin.......put it in the mixer lads! I'll follow you to the cloakroom Sir...
brookfox Posted 13 July 2007 Posted 13 July 2007 I would be happy with either DJ or Mcleod but wouldn't want both. They seem similar players to me, big quick forwards who lack a little bit of skill and neat touch. I wouldn't want to see them playing upfront together. I dunno, they could do for us what Roberts and Ellington did for Wigan in their promotion season (assuming I correctly remember my Wigan history!).
Fez of Mahrez Posted 13 July 2007 Author Posted 13 July 2007 I dunno, they could do for us what Roberts and Ellington did for Wigan in their promotion season (assuming I correctly remember my Wigan history!). I agree. I'd be well up for them being our front two, 90% because I think they'd be good and 10% cos I know Mablo doesn't rate either of them and I'm convinced they would prove him wrong.
Zingari Posted 13 July 2007 Posted 13 July 2007 I agree. Fez of Mahrez Posted 13 July 2007 Author Posted 13 July 2007 i don't think that would prove him wrong; as he could easily claim that they had become much improved players Oh yeah, like he did with the Ameobi/Martins thing.
consty Posted 13 July 2007 Posted 13 July 2007 He was on the money with the appointment of Allen. The Mail said that DJC is our man with the clubs just haggling over money. He was withdrawn from their friendly this week along with Clemence - make of that what you will...Birmingham Mail - not Daily Mail.If I ever read the Daily Mail someone can castrate me and feed me my cock in a bap for supper. You're not a right wing immigrant-hating, union busting, rich man fawning, Company Director's stabbing-piece fashion page reading, bigot then I take it?
Daggers Posted 13 July 2007 Posted 13 July 2007 You're not a right wing immigrant-hating, union busting, rich man fawning, Company Director's stabbing-piece fashion page reading, bigot then I take it? I don't like to be pigeon-holed by labels. I am all of those things and more, so much more. Oh yes.
consty Posted 13 July 2007 Posted 13 July 2007 I don't like to be pigeon-holed by labels.I am all of those things and more, so much more. Oh yes. I decry all labels too. Suffice to say, I am Leicesters only anglo-greco, anarcho-syndicalist, ex-marxist, magician, comedian & entertainer. The preceeding is my marketing tag line; but together with my long name of Anastasis Constantidis Thoulos Sklavos Papadoplous Smith it means my business card just has my phone number on it only with 'large chest for sale'. I get a lot of calls.

consty Posted 13 July 2007 Posted 13 July 2007 you ought to do bahmistvas But as a humous eating, hammas-supporting pro-palastinian, I might not be terribly welcome. Still, I could always walk in with a copy of the Daily Mail. Then they'd know I was kosher.
filbertway Posted 13 July 2007 Posted 13 July 2007 Oh my god. Elvis and DJ up front. I really really really hope this happens, please happen. You were probably expectign a giraffe, but no, I actually want this to happen. We would have the most gangstar forward line in England.

Daggers Posted 13 July 2007 Posted 13 July 2007 DJ at centre of transfer battleDJ CAMPBELL has found himself at the centre of a tug 'o' war. Leciester City remain favourites after triggering the chase for the Blues striker as part of a double deal involving Stephen Clemence. The midfielder has now completed his £750,000 transfer to the Foxes, but Campbell's availability sparked new interest. Watford have come in for him strongly while Cardiff City and Charlton Athletic have now made inquiries. Leicester are believed to be on the verge of agreeing a deal for Campbell after days of negotiations. But if the move falters, an auction could take place as Blues would want to maximise the asking price. During the talks with Leicester, Campbell's value was set at between £2million-£2.5million by Blues. And as Michael Chopra has gone from costing £500,000 to £5million in 12 months, Blues will have taken special note. The 25-year-old Campbell - who joined Blues from Brentford for £500,000 - has no great desire to leave St Andrew's. But boss Steve Bruce cannot guarantee him a regular place this coming season. And his departure could rake in a significant amount of cash to go towards the mystery 'big-name' striker Bruce is tracking. With Blues flying to Germany tomorrow on their pre-season tour, both they and Campbell want a resolution to the saga, which began a week ago. Campbell, though, was not expecting to travel with the party for their 10-day, three-game trip anyway once he had been effectively put up for sale. dandannieldanok Posted 13 July 2007 Posted 13 July 2007 Birmingham Mail - http://icbirmingham.icnetwork.co.uk/mail/b...-name_page.html No thanks, not at that valuation.
Fez of Mahrez Posted 13 July 2007 Author Posted 13 July 2007 Would prefer Izale at £1.2m than DJ at anything like £2m. If Watford want him for that amount then they can have him.
Daggers Posted 13 July 2007 Posted 13 July 2007 That's what Brum set the intial fee for - not what the two teams finally settled upon (is my translation of the saga) I imagine that the negotiations have a lock-in clause depending upon him accepting/rejecting a contract offer preventing him from going elsewhere. Which means we are now waiting while his agent doesn't speak to all the other teams not talking about potential remuneration packages.
hebangsthedrums Posted 13 July 2007 Posted 13 July 2007 I think anything over 1.5mil and we're paying well over the odds.
Manwell Pablo Posted 13 July 2007 Posted 13 July 2007 I agree. I'd be well up for them being our front two, 90% because I think they'd be good and 10% cos I know Mablo doesn't rate either of them and I'm convinced they would prove him wrong. Eh? As Premiership strikers I don't! Roberts would be great in this division, the Dukes more debatable. Both better than Fuller anyway
Jon the Hat Posted 13 July 2007 Posted 13 July 2007 I think anything over 1.5mil and we're paying well over the odds. There seems to be a slightly confused argument around that £1.5M for McLeod who has no exprience at this level is a good price, but any more than that is too much for a player who has that experience and delivered 12 goals in a promotion campaign. Weird.
Fez of Mahrez Posted 13 July 2007 Author Posted 13 July 2007 Eh? As Premiership strikers I don't! Roberts would be great in this division, the Dukes more debatable. Both better than Fuller anyway :D I was on about Izale and Dudley!!!!!!
