He'd be something more offensive than that surely.

You don't find the mighty Quo offensive?

They are up there in my all time list of "bands to see when flamethrowers are allowed into gigs"

I got given free tickets to Quo at the NEC when I was in 6th form (20 years ago) because my mates Dad worked at the NEC ticket office, wish I'd thought to take a flamethrower or better still a few grenages along.

Sturrock not in my thoughts - Milan

Leicester chairman Milan Mandaric insists he has "not even thought" about asking Swindon boss Paul Sturrock to become the Foxes' new manager.

Reports have suggested Mandaric has targeted Sturrock as the man to replace Martin Allen at the Walkers Stadium.

Swindon moved quickly to rubbish the suggestions and Mandaric has now dismissed them as "pure speculation".

"I haven't made an approach to Swindon for Paul Sturrock and I don't expect to," Mandaric told the Gazette.

"There is a lot of speculation around at the moment and this is just what this is - pure speculation.

"Paul Sturrock is not even a manager I had really thought about. I don't know why people are saying we have made an approach.

"When jobs like this are available you do get agents and people like that trying to promote their people. You really have to ignore all the speculation."

Another manager out of the running it seems - BBC sport confirm that Gary Johnson has signed a new 2 year contract with Bristol City.

Why am I getting the horrible feeling that this drama could turn into a long-running farce?.

I think if anything it will teach Mandaric a lesson - I reckon he's had a lot more no's than he expected.

Really am gutted about that.

It doesn't automatically put him out of the running, it could just mean it'll cost more to get him, not likely of course but not unknown in the murky world of professional football.

For whatever reason it doesn't seem like we've ever considered Gary Johnson at any stage over the past few years. It's a real shame, I think he's one of the best managers in Britain.

davieG - that sig is just taking the piss!

I'm sure he'll be willing to step into the breach and save our club once more - all through the magical medium of some shitty Sky Sports column.

Mandaric draws up City short-list

by Andy Mann

Leicester City chairman Milan Mandaric today revealed he has drawn up a short-list of candidates for the vacant manager's job.

And he hopes to have a new man in place before the Championship campaign resumes with the visit of QPR to the Walkers Stadium a week on Saturday.

Mandaric said: “The list is quite a short list of four, five, maybe six people.

“My goal is before the home game against QPR on September 15 that we can hopefully get a manager in place.â€

Mandaric, right, was speaking to the Mercury from America, where he is spending some time with his family and “clearing†his head following the departure of manager Martin Allen.

He remains in regular contact with the club and expects to start interviewing candidates on his return.

Mandaric said: “I am doing some business on the phone and preparing the interviews for the day I come back, probably over the weekend.â€

He added: “It's clear to me we need to bring in a manager who is experienced and well organised.

“We have a lot of good professionals and quality players and, with the addition of one or two players and a good manager, I am very hopeful.â€

Swindon have dismissed speculation linking their manager Paul Sturrock with the post. It came just a day after Coventry warned any approach for their boss Iain Dowie would be “firmly rebuffedâ€.

In a statement issued through their website, swindontownfc.co.uk, the Robins said: “Swindon would like to confirm it has received no approach from any club with regard to manager Paul Sturrock.

“The club would also like to confirm any approach would not be welcome. The club remain committed to League One success under Sturrock's guidance.â€

Sturrock was in charge at Plymouth as they were promoted from League Two to the Championship.

He has also guided Sheffield Wednesday to the Championship and Swindon to promotion from League Two last season.

Other names being linked include Chelsea reserve-team coach Brendan Rodgers, former Sheffield United boss Neil Warnock and ex-Newcastle manager Glenn Roeder.

Former Coventry manager Peter Reid, Gary Megson, formerly of Nottingham Forest, and ex-Wigan manager Paul Jewell have also been linked, although it is understood the latter is not yet ready for a return to management.

Mandaric said of the speculation: “When we are ready, which will hopefully be soon, our supporters will be the first to know what's happening.â€

:fox:

So it seems he is not sure who wants the job.

A short list of four, five or maybe six. :dunno:

Seems like he still wants a couple of players.

But at least we'll be the first to know. :D

Unfortunately the problem with MM is that he fails miserably at learning from mistakes and his stubborness and control freakish nature are mistaken for 'focus and determination' . I just hope his mistakes don't lead to a real loser in charge. :o
