Djeziri signs on loan

Is this guy likely to play?

Not first choice, but why sign someone on loan if there not going to stand a chance of playing. Odihambo should be ahead of Djeziri but he could spend alot of time out on loan.

...but back at the beginning of August, Sky reported:

Blackburn are looking at Danish starlet Adda Djeziri, skysports.com can confirm.

18-year-old Djeziri, who is at home on the wing or up-front, is very highly rated in Denmark and almost joined Rangers earlier this year.

He spent a number of months at Ibrox after joining on loan in January and was set to move permanently after impressing in the youth set-up, until Paul Le Guen left the club.

Following Le Guen's departure the move fell through and now Blackburn are set to take advantage.

Djeziri, who has Algerian family roots, has been training with Rovers and is understood to have impressed Mark Hughes and the club's staff.

Talks confirmed

Now Rovers are set to hold talks with his club Frem about a possible deal.

"I think he has done well and it looks good at the moment," Frem's sporting director Hans Hermansen told skysports.com.

"We will be having further talks this week, but we are expecting a yes or no soon."

Frem have already done one deal with Blackburn this summer after goalkeeper Gunnar Nielsen moved to Ewood Park.

"Two months ago we sold Gunnar to Blackburn and it would be nice for them both if Adda also went there," Hermansen added.

"We are always happy to help our good young players move on, once they have reached the level that they can no longer progress at."

Odd.

In an article from end April, it's noted that he was on the verge of signing a permanent deal with Rangers. He expected a 2-4 year deal. Why it didn't materialise, I don't know. Djeziri himself thought he was good enough to be in the frist team squad, claiming that he was "technically better, but that the physical side needs working on".

The rumour is that with Le Guen's departure no one there was interested in him anymore.

Don't know why but he looks and sounds a bit like an emerging Anelka.

well unless we've agrred a fee & its with a view to a permanent signing its pretty pointless

Unless his contract has been renewed since his return from Rangers, his current one expires at the end of the year, which coincides with the end of the loan period....

Oh, and he's 19 years old now by the way

well lets hope it hasn't & if he shows much promise we can have him for nothing

I don't think this is too strange! I think MM hasn't brought him in to play for first team at all. I think he is doing what Rangers did, and is having on loan so we can see if we want to offer him full contract. One for the future! And i'm all for it, we need to keep bringing in promising youngsters as well as strengthening our first team!

He must be half decent for Rangers to take him for all last season, isn't it nice to finally have a scouting system in place.

Exactly- I'd hardly describe him as a risk. I just wish Milan would wait until there's a new manager in place, it just gives the wrong impression IMO.

I see no problem in taking a look at young players like this. He's not going to command a high wage, and if he turns out to be good, excellent, if he's not so good, we haven't really lost anything.
