Gross.

Where is this place BTW? Asking for a friend

Northamptonshire to Glasgow and back today in 12 hours and 7 minutes.

That includes an hour bus journey across Glasgow and 3 stops at services.

Total of 676 miles.

The M6 and M74 are a joy to drive on once you're north of Preston. (Although I sigh every time when the satnav says "continue for 186 miles" lol

Unfortunately, any further south of that and it's the usual carnage of people in the wrong lane the whole way.

No, I'll do trips like that maybe a couple of times a month.

I regularly start around 6am, but home by 2 or 3 in the afternoon.

At times, I'd love to stop working in IT and be my own boss. Too thick to think of what to do though that would be worthwhile mentally and financially.

First world problems but i am thankful to have a good job now. Just not my passion.

Speaking from experience I think this is overrated, but I am a bit of a cynical bastard sometimes.

I do something that I'm passionate about and I do have days where I think what I do is awesome but they aren't frequent, and I still have to do plenty of admin, write emails and deal with the politics of projects that I really can't be arsed with. Every job has good bits and bad bits no matter whether it's something you enjoy or not.

Ive always tried to keep work and personal life separate.

Only had a handful of workmates I would actually interact with.

Most I find boring🤣🤣🤣

If there are any fit women, sure. Lol

I work remotely since the pandemic so only see my colleagues when when we have team meetings in our office.

There is about 4 people i'd meet up with but one has since moved to portgual and is about to quit as her unpaid leave is over in december. She enjoys life there, said it's laid back.  Seeing as shes like 53  it's  the perfect time to take it easy into retirement. Her kids are grown, shes single and mingling over there lol. She's fit as feck btw but a great friend so going to miss seeing her. Will see her when she comes back though as her mom is o.ver here and two of her kids as well

One of my close colleagues lives about 1km from my house so see him now and then outside of work.

Do you hang with any colleagues?

I've just remembered what happened to me yesterday...

I was in Glastonbury, went int o Morrisons to get a bite to eat.

Before I grabbed lunch, I went in to their toilets. It stank.

Like, absolutely vile, the worst smell of shite that you could possibly imagine. I almost gagged.

Uncontrollably, I blurted out "Jesus Christ"

Then I heard a voice from a cubicle, softly and very apologetically, just say "Sorry"

lol

Wait a moment - Jesus Christ apologised to you?

It’s become my motto too.

Im a little older and have been grafting for nearly 40years I’ve had enough as I believe that’s more than enough for anyone to have to work.

So I go in, do what I have to do, try and avoid meetings and training etc basically just biding my time until I can afford to retire.

I think Soulsby is a little too old for Vaz isn't he?

Saying that I reckon he would make a pretty good washing machine repair man wouldn't he...

"I'm sorry Mr Vaz, but you're going to have to find some way to repay me for these extra works..."

Had my phone and wallet nicked whilst out in a night out in Derby (don’t ask) on Saturday night. Lost 4 cards and my driving license. Definitely not getting the phone back which is going to cost me a bit to replace and they’ve spent £500 on my credit card. It’s an absolute ballache trying to sort things with your bank when you have no phone and all of your bank statements are online so you can’t log in as you either need a card reader to log in (obviously I’ve got no cards) and no phone number to receive verification codes. I failed security over the phone a couple of times as I was purely guessing the answers to questions such as “what was the last transaction amount?” etc. All sorted now hopefully with Nationwide investigating the transaction which they may refund. Makes you realise how fvcked you are without a phone and cards.
