Just back from seeing Rob Beckett at DMH. Very funny, really enjoyed it. Could see his teeth from quite far back lol

Long day at work. At my old place, I sold the car, then introduced the customer to the handover team to sort out finance/payment and all the admin side of things.

 

Now, I see it through from start to finish. It's stressful! Our centralised admin team can be frustrating, as can finance companies, as can customers!

 

3 cars being picked up tomorrow, been chasing everything so the customers are happy and get their cars. Think I just about got everything over the line.

 

Now all I have to do is chase the valeting team in the morning!

 

Managed to sell one as well and did my first lock up on my own.

 

It'll all be worthwhile when I see the smile on 3 different sets of faces tomorrow as they drive off in a new car.

 

That's what it's all about for me, the commission isn't really that important. Knowing you've done a good job is.

At my old place, I'd just chuck the keys at the valeters lol

@Izzy it's a 16 plate 1 series with 91k on the clock, me and the Mrs share it and absolutely hammer it, but satisfying to make it look good. 

 

It's in amazing condition for the mileage it's done. Made me feel really good after cleaning it properly myself this morning. 

 

Four more months till I'm eligible for my company car discounts...:D

My 15 year old step-son is at his dad's tonight.

 

Very mundane, but his dad is a "Man Utd fan".

 

My step-son isn't. He's a massive Leicester fan, because I actually took an interest in him.

 

He's just WhatsApp'd me telling me how he was jumping about, celebrating, rubbing it in.

 

It's rewarding being a step-dad and taking my best mate all over the country to watch us play.

 

I'm actually a bit emotional about it.

It is a bit hard being a step-dad.

I literally used rainwater and a J cloth last week on a hire car in France to avoid cleaning charges 😂

Jacked in a job I despised and which was making me massively unhappy. I was employed based on my potential and not my experience, was given zero support and then regularly given rollockings for not being able to do the job properly. Haven't got another job lined up just yet, but my goodness, I haven't been happier in months. Says a lot when the problem of unemployment is better than what I was doing.

On that brief explanation, you've got a potential claim of constructive dismissal. I'd always encourage looking into it as companies who act like utter twats should always be punished!

I’ve recently gone back to a job I was doing about 5 years ago which is a step up in position from what I’ve been doing the past few years. I hate it all over again so I’m quite jealous of you being in a position to do this

It probably was a two-way thing. I gave up weeks ago and just took the rollockings on the chin.

I only found out on Monday that our game in Moscow was today. I thought it was on Thursday at 3.30. That would've been fine as my day off is Thursday. 

 

Turns out I had 2 handovers at work today, the first at 3, the second at 4.15.

 

Right as we're playing a match.

 

I always have a good chat with my customers, getting to know them is part of the job. If they're football fans, they're buying a car off me. Honestly, we have a laugh and a chat about it, the car almost becomes secondary.

 

Both customers today came in and said something along the lines of "You're working and Leicester are playing?!"

 

I responded to both "I was tempted to watch it but..."

 

They both love football and said "Get it on" lol

 

Basically sat there and watched the whole game with two different customers :D

 

To some, that might sound unprofessional, and I get that, but I'd built the rapport with the customers and they loved it.

 

My job is basically just getting to know people, having laugh with them and making them happy.

 

We built the bond and they wanted the game on, had they not mentioned it, I wouldn't have dreamt of doing that.

 

I bloody love my job. The hard 10 months working for Amazon was all worthwhile to look after my family, but speaking to people all day is fantastic. 

 

Some lovely people about, far outweigh the idiots I encounter.

 

It comes from working in pubs for years.
