I echo everyone else's best wishes to your wife, Izzy.

With this incident, and other things you've mentioned about your family matters in the past on here, you/your family do seem to experienced a bit of bad fortune/bad luck..

Thanks mate. Funnily enough I was thinking about family/health stuff today and it does feel like a lot has happened over the last few years.

I don't think I/we have had any more bad fortune/luck than any other family and it's probably just because I mention it all on here rather than on Facebook or to people in real life

Thanks everyone for your kind messages - what a wonderfully supportive place FT can be sometimes.

Just heard the tests show no bleeding on the brain which is a massive relief.

Well at least that is positive news. Thoughts are with your wife, you and family. Wishing her a full and speedy recovery.

Just seen this, too @Izzy

Fvck me, that's a bit scary - everything crossed that she's ok, mate.

Like others have said on here, thinking of you and your family

Hope everything is OK with your wife @Izzy

Don't feel you have to reply, must be a very worrying time.

I'd like to think most people on here would agree that we're thinking about you all and you get good news

Bless you for asking mate and for everyone's thoughts and concern. I've just picked her up from the hospital and she's still very groggy and tired. They still don't know exactly what it was that lead to her passing out and hitting her head, but think it was a combination of:

1. She's got low blood pressure

2. She's anemic

3. She's dieting and not getting enough calories

4. She might have had food poisoning

The bump and graze on her head is causing her lots of pain and they reckon she needs to rest/not work or drive for three weeks. It's all made me realise how serious concussion is and I can see why it's being taken so seriously in sport these days.

She's still got no recollection of what happened and she's clearly not herself. Just hope time's a healer and all that :fc:

Thank you for letting is know, I wasn't trying to pry, just giving a message of support.

Although still horrible and she's in pain and very scary, I'd take that as good news.

All of those causes can be sorted and managed.

Hope she gets well soon :fc:

Glad to hear it seems to be something that's an easy fix and nothing too serious. So easy to do when you're trying to lose weight, not eating enough. Gotta fuel your body properly to make it work.

You know she's gonna milk this even when she's feeling better? Be prepared to be bringing her food and drinks for the next few months lol

Hypotension and Anaemia are in themselves, possible causes of "Syncope". (A single, unrelated fainting episode).

Rapid and restrictive dieting will affect the body's ability to function properly as, by it's nature, it deprives the body of sugars and salts and other necessary nutrients required for normal function. The brain is a very delicate instrument and it depends massively on proper nutrition including (mostly) natural sugars. It doesn't take much to upset that balance resulting in an episode such as Mrs Izzy has experienced. A faint can result in other physical injuries such as banging one's head during the collapse resulting in concussion.

I hope all goes well and she recovers as I feel sure she will.

But apart from that, what have the Romans ever done for us...?

Joking apart, I'm not a medical man, but these sound enough to be plausible explanations, and hopefully nothing more troubling or underlying.

Bit of a worrying start to the day. The wife (who's normally fit as a fiddle) climbs back into bed at 7am, wakes me up and says "what month is it?"

Turns out she's passed out downstairs, banged her head and has no idea what happened or how long she was out for. She's shivering, confused and I imagine concussed.

Fair play to NHS 111, spoke to a Doctor and the Paramedics came out within 20 mins. Did a few tests on her but now took her to A&E.

Very strange and out the blue. It's usually me who's ill and she's the rock

All the best to you and your family Izzy.Hope your wife makes a speedy recovery.

Yeah I've had a few incidents like this over the years and am told I'm otherwise perfectly 'healthy'.

The sensation you get during the minute or so leading into it is pretty unmistakable so if it does happen again she'll at least know what's happening and be able to secure herself, for my first one I had minimal pre-collapse memory like Mrs Iz but the next time around it triggered a very strong deja vu as it started kicking in and I found somewhere to lie down, so I wouldn't worry too much about the memory loss affecting her ability to notice the onset of future episodes.  Just avoid letting her drive where possible for the next month or so until she feels comfortable, my scariest incident to date happened when I was driving home:  Managed to get myself to a safe spot on the side of the road but still passed out before I'd fully parked up and engaged the hand brake, swam back into consciousness to the sound of the horn from my head being slumped against it and my car was nestled amongst bushes on the opposite side to where I'd pulled over.  Fortunately no damage was done and this happened late at night on a small road just outside a village so no traffic or pedestrians were around to endanger either, but it's one of those things where I'm always thinking 'what if' every time it pops into my head.

Tbf, Izzy, I ask myself that question most mornings...

Glad things are looking up.

Sorry to hear about your wife not being very well @Izzybut good to see you covering your tracks to make it look like an accident, you might want to delete your other posts moaning about her though lol.

I take it all back.

She's been in bed for pretty much the last 24 hours recovering which means I've had to do everything.

Big respect to all the carers out there. I've had enough already

Haha I’ll claim an assist on this one, I felt after ripping into you I’d leave you an open goal.

Honestly though, ever wonder how you will get to retirement without having a breakdown? Not sure I make it.

Many times I've fallen into the trap of "I'll be happy when......" (I pay off the mortgage/retire/kids move out etc.)

Knowing my luck, the day all that happens will be the day I get knocked over by a bus.

I guess the trick for us all is to try and "Be happy now" - but I know that's easier said than done.
