Hello from sunny Torquay. Been here since Sunday, really nice weather, but apparently its nice in Leicester too.

Spending a few days in Yarmouth, went to a place called Horsey Gap where we were hoping to see some seals and saw hundreds! What a great experience.

I'm starting to explore what living a minimalist lifestyle might look like. Seen a few documentaries on it today and getting more and more drawn in to it. 

 

It's certainly making me think about all the 'stuff' I've got in my life that I don't really need.

Went for lunch with a close mate although we haven't seen each other for five years.

He had a stroke in June, he's still recovering now and thankfully making good progress.

He was with his kids (son aged 12, daughter 6) when he collapsed at home.

His son had the nous to call 999 and then his mum (who was at work) while his sister quite understandably was screaming.

Quite likely saved his dad's life.

What a little hero.

That's fantastic.

If you have the details of the call to 999 you can submit them to have him put forward for a recognition award for saving a life and possibly meet the crew that responded and get some wider publicity if that's appropriate.

It takes bravery and a level head to respond to a situation like that as his age. Full admiration to him from me as a paramedic. Well done young man.

They're quite a low key family but I'll see what he says.

The lad is a mad keen Birmingham City fan, I might see if they can do something for him.

I think he's been (understandably) affected by seeing his dad in the state he was so might not want to recall it too much.

That's the kind of thing football clubs do and I guess you will have some contacts. He deserves recognition and maybe being introduced onto the pitch before a game will counter some of the feelings he has and help him to feel how much he did to help and how important that was in influencing others to do the same.

I'm in Norfolk for the weekend in a few weeks, I think my son would love this!

 

What are the chances of seeing seals at this beach is it quite high / worth the drive out?

I'm in a company zoom and one of the participants has identified themselves as "leeds city side 718" so while we waited for things to start I naturally jumped into the comment section to say dirty Leeds.  Unfortunately this group isn't the most interactive bunch so for the entire call it's been the only thing said in there, just sitting awkwardly alongside the head office member chairing the meeting

Incidentally can anyone source the great video that used to exist on YT of that famous day including the pre-match predictions and the permanent marker correction of shame afterwards?  I can only find a 2 minute long sanitised clip on Sky Sports.

I love Devon but the roads must be the worst in the country. We went to Dawlish today, drove along the coast road there no problem. The sat nav guiding us back took us along miles of really narrow, single track roads with 12 foot hedges either side, it was like driving through a tunnel at times. You never knew what was coming the other way.

I'd hazard a guess that your chances would be high, we were told by locals to get there just before sunset and it worked for us. Well worth a trip if it's local enough to where you're going

We were around there in summer.

Drove up one lane uphill and i ended up alomost sh1tting myself when a tractor came down and stopped head on.

It was deadlock as no one could go anywhere.

Eventually after what seemed like an hour but was probably only 30 seconds, he starts reversing  back up and turned into a field to let me through. I could have got out and kissed him I was so overjoyed. Beautiful scenery but f0ck the roads are dodgy!

Another good day at work.

 

Only did 1 deal, but a really satisfying one.

 

A lovely old lady lost her husband a few months ago. Had a 1 year old Peugeot that she bought from us on finance.

 

She was in plenty of equity and we managed to get her in to a used car that more than met her needs and saved her over £100 a month.

 

There's always a buzz selling a car, but there's an even better one when you really put a smile on someone's face. She'd been having sleepless nights, worrying about money and it's a great feeling knowing you've helped take a worry off her mind.

 

She was absolutely lovely, cracking sense of humour, the kind of woman you wish was your nan!

Got hired for a new job that I start next week. Been over 2 years since I worked full-time, so I'm excited and a bit anxious.

 

Funny thing is I got the job by frequenting this pub for the last couple years and the guy who owns the business across the street gave me the job.
