hollowhead Posted 21 November 2007 Posted 21 November 2007 You lot didn't play ball over the Peter Gilbert transfer either, kept dragging it out for a higher price. You owe us big time for that shit box. We'll take Holloway for a pittance and be done with it. Fair point. Although Gilbert was a good player for us. I hope Hollowhead follows in his footsteps to football obscurity.
Dave_Trevaskus Posted 21 November 2007 Posted 21 November 2007 Plymouth fans- You're in Holloway's shoes. Would you stay at Plymouth? I don't think so.He's been offered much more money here with the attraction of being given money to buy players, something he didn't exactly have at Plymouth. This club is undoubtedly bigger than Plymouth, bigger fan base, bigger stadium and more stable finances. You can go on about loyalty but like the others have said, it just doesn't exist in football anymore. Holloway's had a good offer and he';s accepted it. You'd all do the same too. I'd absolutely do the same, but that's not our gripe. What I wouldn't do is go public with how much I love being at the club, denying any suggestion of leaving when in the back of my mind I knew I'd go at the first chance. I'd just keep quiet and get on with my job to the best of my ability out of respect for those who are paying my wages.
Koke Posted 21 November 2007 Posted 21 November 2007 Fair point. Although Gilbert was a good player for us. I hope Hollowhead follows in his footsteps to football obscurity. In a way you should actually be grateful what Ollie has done for you lot. He's leaving you in a very good state and he has done a tremendous job with very little resources.
Blue Bob Posted 21 November 2007 Posted 21 November 2007 I think that would be about right I hope Milan and Plymouth agree compensation as quickly as you too!!!!
Dames Posted 21 November 2007 Posted 21 November 2007 Holloway will do for me i suppose. Hopefully he can install some proper Disipline and Work Ethic into the squad.
Staf Posted 21 November 2007 Posted 21 November 2007 So if the plymouth board are meeting on friday surely we wont have a new manager on saturday

Hmmm fair point. The offer of £££'s obviously overrules his love for Plymouth.
Ric Flair Posted 21 November 2007 Posted 21 November 2007 Manwell, these Plymouth boys don't share your adulation for Mr Fallon. How dare they?!
Dave_Trevaskus Posted 21 November 2007 Posted 21 November 2007 So if the plymouth board are meeting on friday surely we wont have a new manager on saturday He'll get a proper welcome at Ashton Gate on Saturday if he does get on board by then!! I might go along and throw my new copy of his book at him.
Finnegan Posted 21 November 2007 Posted 21 November 2007 I'd absolutely do the same, but that's not our gripe. In all fairness, Leicester isn't a normal situation. I really, really don't want to make out we're the best prospect ever or anything - but there's a difference between, say, Ipswich or Palace or someone and Leicester at the moment - and that's that we've got one of the most talked about (for better or worse) and willing chairmen to inject into the side. Besides, Ollie wouldn't have been allowed to talk publically about going anywhere. Look at what happened at QPR last time we came sniffing for him, heh. And I really, really wouldn't be downhearted if I were a Plymouth fan. As I said, I really do believe he did love Plymouth and probably still does. It's just a opportunity to move on and move UP that people in football just don't turn down. Please excuse what may come across as arrogance, it isn't my intention.
hollowhead Posted 21 November 2007 Posted 21 November 2007 In a way you should actually be grateful what Ollie has done for you lot. He's leaving you in a very good state and he has done a tremendous job with very little resources. We are grateful for that. Its the lies we are fuming about.
Simi Posted 21 November 2007 Posted 21 November 2007 We are grateful for that. Its the lies we are fuming about. I would be if it was our gaffer, to many times we've been the laughing stock of many. To be honest, it feels good to be on the other side of it. However it remains to see who will be having the last laugh.
Finnegan Posted 21 November 2007 Posted 21 November 2007 We are grateful for that. Its the lies we are fuming about. Like I said, what lies? He wouldn't have been allowed to talk about leaving, if he knew, and he probably does love Plymouth and the entire west country. If he comes up here and instantly starts bumm****ing Lestoh, THEN you have a right to feel betrayed (a la Savage and Brum shirt kissing) until then, can't you just accept your manager moved on to a better prospect?
hollowhead Posted 21 November 2007 Posted 21 November 2007 I love all these gobby, oh-so-wise Plymouth fans coming over here warning us not to be deceived and so on. It's like taking advice on romance from a first-burnt twelve year old. We've been there and done that, boys, leave out the clichés - it's getting dull. We're not naive. Do you really think we have not been there too? We are not so naive either. What is different about this is that Hollowhead gives more than any manager out there to persuade you to buy into his loyalty. Even up to a few day before he leaves.

What is different about this is that Hollowhead gives more than any manager out there to persuade you to buy into his loyalty. Even up to a few day before he leaves. But that is no different to anyone else. How many people tell their boss they are going for an interview - they dont, they just take a sickie. You cannot blame anyone for being ambitious, wanted to improove their quality of life for them or their family we all do it in every walk of life - if we didnt we would all still be doing our paper rounds because we wanted to remain loyal!!! Come on be realistic!!
Ric Flair Posted 21 November 2007 Posted 21 November 2007 If any Plymouth fans want to sell their new Holloway autobiographies, then i'm sure there will be some Leicester fans that will take them off your hands for a nugget or two. Let us know.
Fox in a Box Posted 21 November 2007 Posted 21 November 2007 he even has his own group http://www.the-holloways.com/
BigGibbo Posted 21 November 2007 Posted 21 November 2007 he even has his own grouphttp://www.the-holloways.com/ Good group they are to.
Fox in a Box Posted 21 November 2007 Posted 21 November 2007 Good group they are to. I dont rate em myself, there again i went to see the twang in front of 100 people when they were nobodies..... nothing to do with the thread thou.
hollowhead Posted 21 November 2007 Posted 21 November 2007 But that is no different to anyone else. Come on be realistic!! I don't disagree about being ambitious etc, that is not the point, I can understand that. Read his book. He presents himself as the most loyal manager out there, different than the others, and has actually continually made a point of emphasising it while our manager. He's now lost all credibility in that respect. He's shown himself to be a fraud. Other managers don't go about making a point of telling everyone at every opportunity how loyal they are. He does, and its all now proven to be lies.
Bert Posted 21 November 2007 Posted 21 November 2007 He won't be in charge for the Sheffield United game now. He'll either already be here or he'll be in limbo over the weekend, they'll have someone else in charge (a la Rudkin, Stowell and Beaglehole) and we'll appoint him next week.
winnie the blue Posted 21 November 2007 Posted 21 November 2007 HOLLOWAY RESIGNSPosted on: Wed 21 Nov 2007 "PLYMOUTH Argyle confirm that Ian Holloway has tendered his resignation as manager of the club. "The club has convened a board meeting for Friday this week where this will be considered. "In the meantime, Ian continues to be employed by the club and subject to the terms of his contract of employment. "No further comment will be made pending the board meeting this Friday." http://www.pafc.premiumtv.co.uk/page/NewsD...1172570,00.html Oh dear looks like he's coming then
Stevosevic Posted 21 November 2007 Posted 21 November 2007 The Ian Holloway appreciation society on facebook is worth a read - alot of unhappy Plymouth fans leaving comments and it's losing alot of members.
