Ollie unveals 3 new signings

I certainly wouldn't put James Chambers straight back in the side after a prolonged injury.

So, bearing in mind Kenton's injury:

Fulop,

Stearman, McAuley, Kisnorbo, Mattock,

King, N'Gotty, Sheehan,

Hume Cort, Hayes.

Subs: Maybury, J Chambers, A Chambers, Fryatt, Campbell.

You bark on about having players in correct positions.

You have a left winger up front and a centre back in centre midfield. Oh dear.

No Clem at all. Dear oh dear.

Is it any coincidence that our defence has looked decidedly more brittle and at sixs and sevens since Ollie arrived and NGotty stopped getting picked???

I think thats more down to the fact that we no longer play 5 at the back, don't get me wrong I want N'Gotty back in the team instead of McAuley but N'Gotty's distribution of the ball isnt great, it may be better than McAuley and Kisnorbo but it still isnt that good. At times the lack of options our centre backs is unbelievable, the centre midfielders should realise that they arent the best on the ball and come and get the ball off them, the problem is our centre midfielders arent much better. Far too many times our defenders are trying to play the killer ball, which they just cant do.

I know I've already posted this once, but does anyone think this:

Fulop

Kisnorbo N'Gotty McAuley

Chambers----Clemence--King----Sheehan

Hume------Fryatt

Cort

could work? :dunno:

Ollie is a 4-4-2 man apparently.

And besides, I doubt Chambers will play. Probably not fully fit I suppose.

I don't think we should be rushing Chambers, Campbell or John back for a game like this. Give one or two of them 20 minutes at the end and hope they are fit to start against Hull. Fryatt to start alongside Cort with Hume (encouraged to support the attack as much as possible for some much needed pace) and Sheehan on the wings and Clemence and King in central midfield for me.

Having watched Cort struggle on his own for much of the West Brom game I wouldnt think so..

The problem would be that Fryatt and Hume would get sucked into Midfield and with no support for the Wing backs we would lack the crosses that Cort could be effective from..

I think we need to stick to 4-4-2 for now.

:crylaugh: Thrac, N'Gotty in midfield? Dear god.

He'd be the defensive midfield fulcrum allowing full scope for the wing backs to attack and ensuring the ball was passed out of defence to our more creative midfielders.

He'd do the job Kenton did but in a slightly more contained manner. Furthermore his presence would give Sheehan another target from his set-pieces because, without targets, Sheehan's strengths start to get neutralised. Indeed having up to five big targets for

Sheehan would give us the sort of bombardment potential that MON tried to develop with Walsh/Elliott and co, a worthwhile strat3egy, particularly away from home where chances might otherwise be limited.

He would also allow people like King to support attacks, King being perfectly capable of supplying defence splitting passes to the forward runners, assuming we can get em to run!

I've tried to use the players available in a way that enables to attack constructively without leaving too many gaps in defence against a side that will definitely threaten.

Sorry Thrac but that's an insane line-up. Why not go for the normal 4-4-2. Two of Sheehan, Mattock and Hayes on he left. Hume on the right. King and Clemence in the middle, with Fryatt and Dudley up front.

And at the back Stearman at the right, N'Gotty and Kisnorbo as CB's.

You might think it insane but I think it would give us a fighting chance of victory as I've explained in the preceding post.

Like it, this gets Manwells seal of approval.

No Clem at all. Dear oh dear.

Explain, on his current form, what Clemence actually offers the side?

The reason I prefer three up front is twofold. Firstly to give closer support to Carl Cort who is totally ineffective playing up front on his own.

Indeed our forwards are generally lacking even if they work in pairs and I believe Hayes' energy might provide an opening but, more important, would win free kicks and corners for Sheehan to exploit.

A further benefit is that Hayes presence would probably prevent Sheehan being neutered by close marking. Sheehan could provide the "out" ball for Hayes which would be just like his getting another free-kick situation.

Having Hume/Hayes up front would also ensure fast challenges in defenders when Ipswich get possession. I don't advocate a traditional 4-4-2 because we don't have a right winger. Hume is wasted there so why force it?. Hayes filters back into midfield well enough enabling King (who's at least familiar with playing wide) to cover wide right. The balance is perfectly natural.

You people are all so sceptical. :D

I'd rather be sceptical than naive. :P

It's the same formation that people were deriding as 4-5-1 on Saturday. How you expect a midfield composed of three very slow players who are inexperienced in that position to dominate a team that haven't lost at home yet this season is beyond me. Hayes and Hume would get dragged wide to help out the one-paced trio of grandad and his two adopted grandkids and Cort would be left up top on his own again.

Much easier to predict the team for this game

Fulop

Stearman

Kisnorbo

Mcauley

Sheehan

Hume

King

Clemence

Mattock

Fryatt

Cort

Subs: Henderson, N'Gotty, Kenton, Campbell, John

Sorry but I don't expect us to dominate at all. I'd be very surprised if Ipswich fail to score but have a defence in place which might, just might, limit them to one.

My strategy - with any from McAuley, Kisnorbo, N'Gotty, King and Cort would offer the best chance of exploiting Sheehan's free-kicks and, having three up front, might also plunder a goal, because one up front won't.

However the game develops Hume and Hayes will help in midfield - they always do - but I fail to see where we find fast midfielders for the centre because James Chambers is in no way creative and nor, as we agree, should he start at this stage of his recovery process.

Hume is totally wasted out wide on either flank so I'm perfectly happy with what is a 4-3-3 that adapts to 5-2-3 a 5-3-2 or even a 3-4-3 according to circumstances.

All my chosen players are supposedly fit, we have the equivalent of six potential scorers and seven realistic defenders. seems that satisfies all my basic principles.

Of course I'd like more pace but I see more to be lost than gained playing 4-4-2 with Ashley Chambers on the right.

It would have been nice if I'd been given the choice. Now I have to live a lonely life of being both.

Life isn't easy with a voice activated penis you know.

He lives round the corner from me. Shall I go and see if he's available, assuming he's not a lizard today.

I can take his birthday card round ready for Christmas Day

Dudley not travelled? But I assume John has?

I reckon he'll go for Fryatt and Cort up front then.

You're right, But he's been sat behind the manager since the middle of November. Arthritis could have set in by now at his age. :D

This a sheer waste of his experience.
