Koke Posted 14 February 2008 Posted 14 February 2008 Can't see both King AND Weso starting. Maybe one of them, Weso more likely. But both of them starting is Christmas come early for you Thrac.
Scow Posted 14 February 2008 Posted 14 February 2008 "He will be there or there abouts. I didn't think that he was quite right for the Watford game because I anticipated a much more robust type fixture. I felt that I needed a combative midfield and then all of a sudden they got a man sent off and we have got the ball all night. That is just one of the perils of being a football manager." I don't know if I'm missing something here, but when has Kish ever been a ball playing midfielder? If anything, his style is suited to a 'more robust game'. He has plenty of energy, but he's not the sort of player to get the ball down and dictate things like Oakley or Clemence. Has Ollie lost the plot?

I don't for a minute think he'll play both. In fact I'm not convinced he'll play either. Dad's Army's here to stay in all probability and it will serve our leaders right if it backfires.

Scow Posted 15 February 2008 Posted 15 February 2008 What if he plays Weso, King and possibly Beswick, and it backfires? Then what Tracian? We throw in more youngsters.
Thracian Posted 15 February 2008 Posted 15 February 2008 What if he plays Weso, King and possibly Beswick, and it backfires? Then what Tracian? How did we get on the last three matches? And how many goals did we score? And where are we in the table if the teams below us win their games in hand? And where are we if we don't score again in our next match? And if this, and if that. Who's playing better than Weso in midfield? Who's playing better than Beswick on the left flank? Who is a more attacking central midfielder than King? Of course he won't use them all. But really we've played well once in the last five. So why do you have such great faith in that suddenly changing if we carry on with the same approach?
Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 15 February 2008 Posted 15 February 2008 I reckon that what we are facing now is similar to the England situation last autumn. If we play "fringe players" such as Kish, Weso, King et al, players that want to play for Leicester City, we may see a bit of passion and commitent to get back into the side, a la Emile Heskey or Gareth Barry.

You didn't really answer my question, but nevermind. What I'm trying to say is that despite how well Weso and King are playing, throwing them in isn't suddenly gonna solve all our problems. But I do agree with you though, something has to change within the playing staff cos at the moment it quite clearly isn't working. But unlike you, I don't have blind faith in the kids and believe that once we throw them all into the deep end it'll solve all our problems.
bob falange Posted 15 February 2008 Posted 15 February 2008 Ollie may be influenced by how we played against Norwich last month. The same side which had dominated Coventry so superbly - with our Hungarian wingers shining brightly - was hard put to hold on for a draw against Norwich. Having said that, I hope he will pick both wingers and tell them that under no circumstances are they to do any defending. They are to be available for a forward pass and then do what they do best - get to (or near) the by-line and cross towards goal. I'm fed up of hearing that Bori and Laczko are back "helping" the defence - that's one of the reasons why they then lack the energy, pace and position to do their proper jobs, which is to create goals for the strikers. We have the best defence in the championship - we don't need 11 defenders - it's scoring that we are currently weak at.
Darkzzz_ Posted 15 February 2008 Posted 15 February 2008 Kitchen-Chef could be back in the folder ay!! I think Ollie is going to ring the changes, Poor Clem !!!

I have faith in people who can pass and move quickly and constructively for 90 minutes, or at least 70 as is far more likely in today's football. I've not seen Laczko and Clemence do that. People keep telling me Clemence can but as for evidence since he's been here, I've just not seen much.

I totally agree and will back you up on this but Ollie hasn't got a clue and will continue to keep Weso out of the picture. He's been nowhere to be seen recently and even Kish has been picked ahead and as you said in your reserves report Weso did well and could just be what we need for the time being. As For King he is still way off the first team I think. He still has a lot to learn and needs to even grow a few inches aswell but hopefully his previous experiences in the first team will teach him and hopefully he will come through succesfully. Oh and are Craig King and Andy King related because they look like each other aswell??
reynard Posted 15 February 2008 Posted 15 February 2008 What if he plays Weso, King and possibly Beswick, and it backfires? Then what Tracian? Then we obviously take the WWI approach and keep sending more youngsters over the top to be slaughtered by the opposition. Seriously though if Kishishev is in line for a recall then I'm not sure how we are going to approach this game. Ollie clearly said on Radio that he didn't see playing Kishishev in a 4-4-2 formation would work but it would have to be 4-3-3- But are we going to play that in such a crucial game? I'm not sure we have the players to play that successfully and can see us being overun in midfield. One thing is for certain (and here I agree with Thracian) we simply have to start scoring otherwise we will be relegated. I can't see how we are going to do this. Firtly we are incapable of building from defence because basically our 2 central defenders of choice are overrated hoofers who can't pass more than 5 yards to a teammate. Secondly our midfielders are all too alike. Weso/clemence/ kishishev/oakley to a greater or lesser degree all do much the same. Our wide players seem to consist of 2 Hungarians who are sterting to look out of their depth and the crowd will soon be on their back, hume who clearly is in a sulk and can't play there anyway and a completely untested kid from the reserves. Basically despite Holloway's mouthy press interviews in my opinion we don't have the players to play 5-3-2, 4-3-3 or even 4-4-2 with any degree of success. Our most stable period this seasn was when we played N'gotty just in front of the back four but I can't see us going back to that. Perhaps we should try diamonds or christmas trees!
Uncle Monty Posted 15 February 2008 Posted 15 February 2008 ijust read on teamtalk that kishishev is going to be in the team that plays Norwich wtf is going on???
MikeyT Posted 15 February 2008 Posted 15 February 2008 ijust read on teamtalk that kishishev is going to be in the team that plays Norwich wtf is going on??? Why not give him a chance! He cant be any worse than anyone else is at the moment!
Monk Posted 15 February 2008 Posted 15 February 2008 This is interesting, especially seeing as Weso has not had a shout of late either. I wonder who will be dropped? Clem? Or will he push him/Clem out left?
leicesterseddon Posted 15 February 2008 Posted 15 February 2008 kishishev is not the answer...the man's an absolute donkey i'm also losing faith in mcauley; he's still a decent defender (he loses his concentration tho), but his forward distribution is awful as for clapham, anyone at the watford game will agree with me that he is far too slow...i'd rather see mattock have a go on the left with clemence on the wing....i know what you're thinking but at least he's got a left foot. neither of the two hungarians can cross the ball. hume has an ego problem. fryatt should replace that arse-licking barry hayles. thus: Fryatt Hume Clem Weso Oakley Zolt Mattock Kisnorbo N'Gotty Stearman Alnwick is my team for norwich
Daggers Posted 15 February 2008 Posted 15 February 2008 This is interesting, especially seeing as Weso has not had a shout of late either.I wonder who will be dropped? Clem? Or will he push him/Clem out left? Last game for us, Kish came on to play Left Wing!
Manwell Pablo Posted 15 February 2008 Posted 15 February 2008 Really can't decide if i can be arsed tomorrow.
The Reverend Posted 15 February 2008 Posted 15 February 2008 I dont think this is such a bad move. He will add something to the team that we havent had in midfield, energy, a bit of pace, and good tackling. He can pass it too. Clemence and Oakley arent the sort of players that will charge around like Kish will. We need a hustler and a harrier, someone who will be first to the ball. I think we need that in our position. Thought Weso performs a similar role. But if Holloway has noticed his performance in training and for the ressies, we have ro trust his judgement. Thracian, you went to the ressies game he played in, what did you think to him?
Ric Flair Posted 15 February 2008 Posted 15 February 2008 If Ian Holloway yet again, doesn't play 2 wingers tomorrow then as far as i'm concerned the man can fook off. He's a hypocrite, whose spent the best part of 2 months bull shitting our fans that the reasons we are in this mess is because the lack of balance in the side and no wingers. January comes and he only signs 2 wingers, but let's a couple go on loan and released a couple. The 2 that come in, look good, then look crap, but at least showed some promise. He's now gone back to playing players out of position again and it's no coincidence we couldn't score for shit since the change. I am well aware that these Hungarians haven't set the world alight, like we hoped and thought after Coventry, but neither has any of our players since that game. What worries me is that Holloway genuinely believes or is led to believe that having 4 strikers in the team or 6 defenders in the team will give us more of a chance of winning games than if we have the 2 Hungarians on the wings. I'm sick to death of our managers allowing our players to get away with hoofing the ball down the middle and not having it drilled in to them that that should only be done as a last resort. If Holloway fined our players £100 every time they hoofed the ball unecessarily, they'd soon stop doing it. It's basic football that if we don't get the ball down to our central midfielders who can put a foot on it and allow our wingers to push forward to stretch teams, then we're going to find ourselves up against it. Radostin Kishishev at left or right wing, will not help either. Ollie is 'happy' that we tried to play some football on Tuesday, but if he took the time to assess why that passing football still didn't result in any goals or any points, he'd find out it was possibly down to us having an un-balanced team again and not enough players in the right positions who can hurt the opposition. If Kishishev has impressed, then play him in his rightful position, where he's played for the reserves, don't bring him in on merit for a position he's not fookin played well in to earn the first team recognition. TWAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAT
Koke Posted 15 February 2008 Posted 15 February 2008 The thing for me is the fact that Ollie is trying to change it around. He's not just sitting on his arse waiting for the senior players to pull their finger out and produce. Okay, Weso may have been a better option but Kish isn't as bad as some people make him out to be. It wouldn't surprise me at all if Steve Howard was benched tomorrow, and he goes for two mobile forwards in Campbell and Hume.

TWAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAT Ric, the thing is though is that if both the Hungarians play and we finish the game as ineffective as ever, Ollie will get slaughtered. If he doesn't play with wingers but play with a more 4-3-3 approach and that doesn't pay of either, he'll get slaughtered. Damned if he does and damned if he doesn't. Players should take a lot more responsibility.
Joe. Posted 15 February 2008 Posted 15 February 2008 This team like Ric says is crying out for two good wingers. Bori and Lackzo looked great on their debuts, but then again so did the whole team. Since then nothing's gone right. For players like Steve Howard who thrive on play from the wings to succeed, we need two better wingers fast. We've already failed on Scott Sinclair so we need to turn our attentions elsewhere, or risk our status in this division even further. Edit: Where is this coming from about Kishishev on the wing by the way?
