davieG Posted 28 February 2008 Posted 28 February 2008 From his Blog Foxes fans give me a massive boost I had a run-out with the reserves in our 1-0 win against Walsall this week and it's always nice to get 90 minutes of football under your belt. Obviously I want to stake my claim for a regular first team place and I need to perform well in everything I do at Leicester. In any job you have to keep on top of what you do and football is no different. If the gaffer picks me I will do my bit and if I'm not in the starting 11 I'll just keep on working hard and making sure I'm ready whenever I'm called. In the end these things tend to take care of themselves. I have to say the fans have been brilliant for me ever since I came to the club. They are fantastic supporters of the team, but I appreciate the way they have treated me individually. It's a massive boost at times when you begin to doubt yourself and they get behind you. They were chanting my name the other week and that was amazing to hear. From the team's point of view, it was very disappointing to go down 2-0 at Coventry last weekend, especially after the team played so well to beat Norwich 4-0 the week before. Consistency seems to have been a bit of a problem since I joined the club. We're always in this cycle of playing well one week and poorly the next. Of course, when you're struggling in the league home advantage makes a difference, so sometimes we've been doing well at home and then slipping up away.
Manwell Pablo Posted 28 February 2008 Posted 28 February 2008 WE LOVE YOU TOO MATTY Apart from Thracian and Master Fox, they prefer Elvis "Ain nuttin but a G thing baby" Hammond.
The People's Hero Posted 28 February 2008 Posted 28 February 2008 I think he meant to say FANS GAVE ME MASSIVE BOOTS. They don't fit him, that's why he can't score.
Wycombe Fox Posted 28 February 2008 Posted 28 February 2008 From his BlogFoxes fans give me a massive boost Fryatt's is the top one!
Thracian Posted 28 February 2008 Posted 28 February 2008 WE LOVE YOU TOO MATTY Apart from Thracian and Master Fox, they prefer Elvis "Ain nuttin but a G thing baby" Hammond. If Fryatt starts scoring goals I don't mind loving him too but there's no signs of it. He'll always get popular support because there'll be a few on here from the Nuneaton area where he hails from and because he's got followers of his blog who will doubtless post on here but Matty needs to do what he talks about and get on top of his game. Whenever I see him in the reseves I think he's a worthwhile player which couldn't ever be said of some others. I've even encouraged his return to the first team on a couple of occasions but whenever it happens he just seems to fall short. To me it's down to the shortcomings I've detailed time and again but there are strikers who've had shortcomings and still made something of themselves, Tony Cottee in particular. Yes I'd have transferred him by now but, as he's still here I'm even now loathe to quite give up on him. But I really think he needs the help of a specialist striker coach, a guy like Cottee or Sheringham, people who really the striker's art. Fryatt is never going to be big or quick. But he's clever on the balll and he can shoot to a limited extent. Those skills need to be honed and developed but the evidence of the last 12 months doesn't suggest it's happening. Fryatt is still a relative novice given the long term injury he had and number of appearances he's made. Strikes me he needs a mentor. Someone who believes in him and knows how to get the best out of him.
Daggers Posted 28 February 2008 Posted 28 February 2008 I wish he was decent - "I predict a Fryatt" would have made a great chant
The People's Hero Posted 28 February 2008 Posted 28 February 2008 'Pie Edict Shocks Fryatt' Would make a good one today, following the edict that Pork Pie manufacture in Leicestershire is outlawed under the Pork Pie bye-law of 2004.
danny. Posted 28 February 2008 Posted 28 February 2008 If Fryatt starts scoring goals I don't mind loving him too but there's no signs of it. would offside and dis-allowed goals count?
Daggers Posted 28 February 2008 Posted 28 February 2008 I wonder if he thinks a good game. I've always thought I could be one of those players - apparently thinking a good game can make up for a lack of pace. I wonder if Gareth Hale would agree?

Koke Posted 28 February 2008 Posted 28 February 2008 Fryatt is shit. I agree with Thracian. The striker pecking order isn't lying. He is 5th choice and so he should be. The same people who want him in the team will be the same ones who'll be slagging him off after a couple of games when it's apparent that he can't run, can't shoot from distance and can't win a single header despite being several inches taller than Ian Hume. He is pants.

Koke Posted 28 February 2008 Posted 28 February 2008 Bet you wasn't saying that during his first season here. No I wasn't but he has gone downhill now rather than improving. And the lad is 22 next week. If he's willing to be a back-up striker, that's fine by me. And if he'd rather go somewhere else for first team football, then that's fine by me as well.
Mort Posted 28 February 2008 Posted 28 February 2008 All the best to him... but i fail to see what he offers us as a striker (it's certainly not goals) and at the same time I havent got a clue why the kop chants his name at the drop of a hat!
Monk Posted 28 February 2008 Posted 28 February 2008 TBH I don't think he's worth a Boost. Maybe Toffee Crisp. But Boost really is pushing his luck!
The People's Hero Posted 28 February 2008 Posted 28 February 2008 I do like a boost from time to time, I have to say.
Bellend Sebastian Posted 28 February 2008 Posted 28 February 2008 I do like a boost from time to time, I have to say. If you apply yourself, you could do very well. How's that for you, then?
Guest Posted 28 February 2008 Posted 28 February 2008 TBH I don't think he's worth a Boost. Maybe Toffee Crisp. But Boost really is pushing his luck! What about a Drifter?
Master Fox Posted 28 February 2008 Posted 28 February 2008 He can shoove his Boosts up his jacksie!! Runs like he's got a few up there anyway...
mancunianfox Posted 28 February 2008 Posted 28 February 2008 5th choice for a reason??? Anyone one on here who thinks Barry Hayles is a better footballer than Matty Fryatt is certifiably insane.
Master Fox Posted 28 February 2008 Posted 28 February 2008 5th choice for a reason???Anyone one on here who thinks Barry Hayles is a better footballer than Matty Fryatt is certifiably insane. That'll be me then. Actually, I'm not sure. Both are pretty swag
Koke Posted 28 February 2008 Posted 28 February 2008 5th choice for a reason???Anyone one on here who thinks Barry Hayles is a better footballer than Matty Fryatt is certifiably insane. Sir Baz is 36 - Fryatt is 22. If Fryatt can't get ahead of Barry then he should just call it a day and feck off back to Nuneaton.
Darkzzz_ Posted 28 February 2008 Posted 28 February 2008 I would say overall i have been disappointed with Matty, but i am not going to sit here and say he is shit. Compared to a lot of players that have come in and out of the walkers he has been fairly decent to an extent. Ok he has not set the world a light as his potential once stated when he first joined us, but there is no doubt he can play football. He lacks the pace and the goals on any regularity but if he did have that then he wouldn't be playing for us. I agree with Thrac he could have done with a proper coach who knows the art of finishing, who can help him with these extra attributes in order to make him better at what he should be doing, that is puting the ball in the back of the net!! I have been one of these people who have been hoping he would turn into that hitman we need, the striker who we have lacked for ages. It just seems he gets worse us time goes on, is it the manger changes?? Is it the players around him?? These things could all play a part but overall i would say Matty is a very hit and miss player. Another case of a potential talent gone to waste! (although i still hope at the tender age of 22 he can still find something in that locker)

Monk Posted 28 February 2008 Posted 28 February 2008 What about a Drifter? He is a bit of a drifter. He aims for the milky way but as yet hasn't even reached mars. Who knows where his Bounty lies. Maybe he still has a Whisper of a chance, if Ollie gives him a Twirl. If he doesn't then I'm sure he can go back and drive Double Deckers!
