Uncle Monty Posted 1 April 2008 Posted 1 April 2008 Would a wholesale change be the best thing??? Personally i would be glad if we got rid of the whole squad and start again - perhaps keeping mattock
SamL Posted 1 April 2008 Posted 1 April 2008 Overhaul will do us no good at all. Agreed. You can't just bring in a load of new players and expect them to gel instantly. This would create a low morale among the squad. This is what Allen tried last summer and look what happened there. It would cost a lot of money to pay players to go and quite a few would struggle to find new clubs which could create an unbalanced squad. We don't need wholesale changes, there's a good nucleus to the squad but we just need to strengthen certain positions.

You are right i was just thining hypothectical and to be fair, could the morale of our squad get any worse??
Thracian Posted 1 April 2008 Posted 1 April 2008 You'd miss any of the regular players if you didn't have better replacements. We have a perfectly respectable squad now and if recent additions like Bell and Hendrie are the sort we can expect my main concern is making sure that we get the best out of them and don't neglect the final development of our young players
SamL Posted 1 April 2008 Posted 1 April 2008 You are right i was just thining hypothectical and to be fair, could the morale of our squad get any worse?? I'd say it's getting better. We seem to be getting some stability around the club which can only be a good thing. One of the reasons we are where we are is because of the constant change. We've got some good players with a great crop of young ones coming through, all we need to do is strengthen it and we'll be fine.
Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 1 April 2008 Posted 1 April 2008 Hendrie, Mattock, Stearman, DJ, Oakley, Weso...
The Stig Posted 1 April 2008 Posted 1 April 2008 Henderson as we've got no one else to go in goal at the moment.
Daggers Posted 1 April 2008 Posted 1 April 2008 I'll miss Hendrie's chimpy face around the place and his natural feisty enthusiasm for the match. The rest of them could be hit with a bus.

Number1flanker Posted 1 April 2008 Posted 1 April 2008 I would like Hendrie, Mattock, DJ, Stearman, Henderson (Good replacement keeper) and Oakley to stay. The sooner Levi and Gradel return the better because I think both will benefit the wings

UrbanFox Posted 2 April 2008 Posted 2 April 2008 New Keeper Stearman Kisnorbo McCauly Mattock Bell Oakley Hendrie New left mid Hume Howard Dont think we need wholesale changes we need abit of stability theres no reason why the above team should not be challenging for the play offs at least, we need quality not quantity. We need to sign Lee Hendrie he actully looks like he cares! We also need to get Max Gradel in and around the first team setup, I dont want to bang on about Fulop but if we could get him in the summer it would be great. i would try and offload a few players aswell i think Fryatts time is up hes a striker that dont get enough goals although i do like the lad. clemance aswel it just has not worked out for him here.
clazkel Posted 2 April 2008 Posted 2 April 2008 Mattock, Stearman, Fryatt, Howard (if he keeps playing as he did on sat), Hume (still got lots to give), Hendrie (if he keeps his enthusiasm), Bell (if he keeps playing like he did on sat), Weso
Monk Posted 3 April 2008 Posted 3 April 2008 I don't think there will be a mass exodus in the summer, but the only ones I'd be annoyed to lose would be Stears, Mattock, Henderson, and erm... thats about it.

Plus Gradel, Porter, Weso, DJ Campbell and a new CB, maybe Worley is the one, I don't know. A new striker would do us good, if we can offload Fryatt that is. Even for his own career, it's probably best that he goes somewhere else to start on a fresh. It hasn't quite worked for him here, and if he decides to leave then good luck to the fella. I think we have a decent team, no need for wholesale changes. Just add competition to every position and we should do well next season hopefully.
Finnegan Posted 3 April 2008 Posted 3 April 2008 <New Keeper> Stears, Gaz McA, Kis, Mattock/Clapham Bell, Hendrie, Oakley, <New Winger> Howard, <New Striker> (Maybe even DJ or Hume?) Judging by some of the rubbish teams we've seen come to the Walkers this year that are currently scrapping it out for play-off places, I think it's fair to say that on paper above team is good enough for a top six finish in this division.
Monk Posted 3 April 2008 Posted 3 April 2008 I actually hope Hume leaves because although I like the guy I just don't think he fits in anywhere.
FilboFox Posted 3 April 2008 Posted 3 April 2008 Who'd have thought that we'd all be saying we'd miss Hendo... I certainly never thought that I'd hear it on here...
Dr The Singh Posted 3 April 2008 Posted 3 April 2008 Who'd have thought that we'd all be saying we'd miss Hendo...I certainly never thought that I'd hear it on here... I would never say that!!!
Finnegan Posted 3 April 2008 Posted 3 April 2008 I wouldn't miss Hendo at all. I think he's far too error prone and far too shit in the air to be a top keeper even at this level. I would, however, like to see him replaced by someone half decent before we let him go.
