Wycombe Fox Posted 26 May 2008 Share Posted 26 May 2008 Kung Fu Fighting by Carl Douglas - bought this on a 7" in 1975, still got it and it's unscratched too! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MJQu97_Xwiw And if you fancy singing along here are the lyrics! Everybody was kung-fu fighting Those cats were fast as lightning In fact it was a little bit frightening But they fought with expert timing They were funky Chinamen from funky Chinatown They were chopping them up and they were chopping them down It's an ancient Chinese art and everybody knew their part From a feint into a slip, and a kicking from the hip Everybody was kung-fu fighting Those cats were fast as lightning In fact it was a little bit frightening But they fought with expert timing There was funky Billy Chin and little Sammy Chung He said here comes the big boss, lets get it on We took a bow and made a stand, started swinging with the hand The sudden motion made me skip now we're into a brand knew trip Everybody was kung-fu fighting Those cats were fast as lightning In fact it was a little bit frightening But they did it with expert timing (repeat)..make sure you have expert timing Kung-fu fighting, had to be fast as lightning
Thracian Posted 26 May 2008 Share Posted 26 May 2008 Probably YaYa Twist by Petula Clark around 1962 but then my mum might well have bought it. First one I definitely remember buying was Leader of the Pack by the Shangri-La's in 1964. It was a present for my new girlfriend, later to be my wife. purpleronnie Posted 8 September 2009 Share Posted 8 September 2009 I can't remember mine (annoying), but It was probably some chicago house music on import circa 1987 or Livin' on a prayer by bon jovi, boy I hope it was the chicago house 7". I know it was a rarity I bought records back then as I wasnt a massive fan and I believe started buying records much more frequently around 1990 with the whole madchester thing. The singles I mentioned may well have been bought for me or handed down from my sis.
