cambridgefox Posted 3 June 2012 Posted 3 June 2012 Met a gay ghost once. Kept giving me the willies!!! I will get my coat.
The Doctor Posted 3 June 2012 Posted 3 June 2012 No such thing as ghosts. There's no soul or any of that shit to be floating around, no other side to communicate from. Ghosts are simple, story based beings and people need to keep that in mind. They're no more real that werewolves, unicorns or George Bush's brain.
Guest Posted 3 June 2012 Posted 3 June 2012 Ghosts don't exist. If they did we'd all see them often. When you die, you die and whatever energy your body contained is dissipated into the universe.
Smudge Posted 3 June 2012 Posted 3 June 2012 We went into the living room, which for the record is used as the studio on most haunted. Robert couldn't have been dead in there, it's the living room!
Rincewind Posted 3 June 2012 Posted 3 June 2012 Ouija boards in their modern format came out as a toy in the early 1800's. Pronounced Weejee possible translation Oui for yes and Ja for no (?) or an ancient word meaning spirit. The truth is out there.
AyewJoking Posted 3 June 2012 Posted 3 June 2012 which footballer was nicknamed "the ghost" or did i imagine that there was one Jonathan Woodgate
fatmando Posted 3 June 2012 Posted 3 June 2012 This triggered my memory. I used to push the ouija board glass around the board when doing them with friends when I was a teenager. Proper shat loads people up and never admitted it....until now! ha. Ghosts = Bullshit! I still crap my pants at scary films though. Paranormal activity 3 made me actually hug a cushion whislt watching.
Fox92 Posted 3 June 2012 Posted 3 June 2012 Your head works overload as well remember. When you're alone and you hear a sound, or something, imagination can run wild...

stourbridgefox Posted 3 June 2012 Posted 3 June 2012 Some people seem very certain of the nature of the universe. Almost to the point of religious faith. I went on this ghost hunt thing partly to have a secret giggle at people convincing themselves of the existence of ghosts. The giggle turned out to be on me because I experienced things which the most likely explanation for is something beyond scientific explanation. I saw things, I heard things, I smelled things which defy a rational explanation. If someone said the same to me, I would take it with a few kilos of salt. So I don't expect anyone to believe me. But...I wouldn't be so certain of what you think you know.
AoWW Posted 3 June 2012 Posted 3 June 2012 Met a gay ghost once. Kept giving me the willies!!! I will get my coat. You were at that "picnic site" near Mildenhall, again, weren't you?
cambridgefox Posted 4 June 2012 Posted 4 June 2012 You were at that "picnic site" near Mildenhall, again, weren't you? Ha ha,i could have been mistaken as i haven't got eyes in the back of my head!

Captain... Posted 6 June 2012 Posted 6 June 2012 All those ghost hunting shows are bollocks, and a lot of it is made up nonsense to attract tourists and make money... ...but, I think there is something out there, there are too many plausible accounts told by multiple people for me to dismiss, I have experienced weird shit in my life, nothing concrete, nothing really definable, most can be dismissed as reading into coincidence, but I am ready to accept there is a lot we still don't know about this world, whether what we call ghosts are dead spirits, some sort of past echo that has no conscience, or maybe even a blurring of the boundaries between parallel universes (something scientists will believe, even though it is more ludicrous than ghosts) I don't know, I have seen lts of evidence of fakes and a scams, but just because there are fakes and scams doesn't mean there isn't some truth in there somewhere, there are probably truly psychic people out there too, but they are not on TV or appearing at fairs, they are either working for the Government (Minority Report style) or in a mental home.
BoneDog Posted 6 June 2012 Posted 6 June 2012 DEMONS. The elite conjure them up all the time. That's the real reason for hauntings...they're not ghosts. Only found this out recently but it's defo 100% true. I had a chat with one once. Shit the crap out of me for a few hours I can tell ya!
stourbridgefox Posted 6 June 2012 Posted 6 June 2012 Care to elaborate? This isn't going to turn out to be an argument is it? This forum is supposed to be light entertainment! I don't know exactly what you want me to elaborate on, but my point is this. I don't think it is wise to be too certain in a belief in anything. Whether it be science, God, ghosts, UFOs, moon landings or anything else, whatever you believe in will be in some way a flawed model of the universe. I don't believe any institution or organisation, let alone individual, has all the answers. The world is a much more mysterious place than anyone is able to quantify or qualify. Maybe everything you know is wrong.

Your starting to worry me abit now You had a chat with a 'Demon' ? And the Elite conjure them up, to float around, scratch pipes and throw books around, they also occasionally strike up conversation with nutters
Rincewind Posted 7 June 2012 Posted 7 June 2012 If you see and talk to fairies and leprechauns you are mad, if you see the face of Jesus in a slice of toast and talk to and answered by a God you are chosen. I could never understand that logic.

Science isn't an alternative to religion or ghosts - it is a process to test the veracity of knowledge. No God, ghost or UFO has stood up to the scientific process. The understanding of the universe is as good as it gets with the current data and interpretation - understanding will change should new data come to light...this is what sets the scientific approach apart from religious dogma.

I agree entirely with the last bit, but you must concede there are things out there that science can't explain, one of them is the presence of life, they don't know how things grew from nothing to complex living beings, they have theories, that involve rock pools of matter being struck by lightening, but in reality they cannot explain how we have developed conscious thought and a sense of self to a level that no other being has even come close to, there is room for spirituality at the moment because there is a lot of unknowns, and to dismiss it out of hand is not a very scientific approach, yes 99% of ghost stories and ghost hunting shows, mediums and psychics can be dismissed as bollox, but that 1% of just pure unexplainable facts, will always leave me feeling there are things that we cannot and perhaps should not understand in this world, and that maybe only death will provide the answer.
Daggers Posted 7 June 2012 Posted 7 June 2012 There is a one million dollar prize for any nutjob who can prove the existence of ghosts. This prize has been up for grabs since 2007. Not one nutjob has claimed it. The use of the term 'nutjob' is not a scientific one, it was a personal choice. Can't explain the presence of life? I refer you to Miller–Urey and then Synthesis of activated pyrimidine ribonucleotides in prebiotically plausible conditions Matthew W. Powner, Beatrice Gerland & John D. Sutherland. Nature, Vol. 460, May 13, 2009. Room for spirituality? This translates to 'in the absence of someone not being able to prove the thing I've made up doesn't exist, the thing I've made up must exist.' It's what churches based centuries of oppression, fear and abuse on. There are no unexplainable 'facts' - the absence of facts is what makes pseudo-science what it is: a wacking great pile of bollocks.
