lildave3 Posted 4 June 2008 Posted 4 June 2008 You sure about that? That can't be true seeing as we knocked back a £1 million bid in January. According to someone (Knowitall I think) it came in after relegation.
DB11 Posted 4 June 2008 Posted 4 June 2008 Why would McAuley go if he only signed a new contract in Feb?
Joe. Posted 4 June 2008 Posted 4 June 2008 Why would McAuley go if he only signed a new contract in Feb? Because we've just been relegated?
Father Ted Posted 4 June 2008 Posted 4 June 2008 Source That Paul Aldridge seems like a bit of a noob.
Tilley Posted 5 June 2008 Posted 5 June 2008 Is this the last year of Stearmans contract If it is, then we need to either sign a one/two year extension or sell up before he goes on a free.
Cheese Me Posted 5 June 2008 Posted 5 June 2008 Is this the last year of Stearmans contract If it is, then we need to either sign a one/two year extension or sell up before he goes on a free. Isn't he still too young to go for free?
Daggers Posted 5 June 2008 Posted 5 June 2008 According to someone (Knowitall I think) it came in after relegation. Wow! Those shop assistants really have their finger on the pulse.
Nationwider Posted 5 June 2008 Posted 5 June 2008 Ipswich maybe have some wonga to splash after their takeover. If MM plays his hand well and teases Magilton up to £1.5M-ish, we should pull his arm off. Then eBay it.

Fox You Forest Posted 7 June 2008 Posted 7 June 2008 Could ipswich be looking elsewhere? Roger Johnson knocked Coalville Town out of the FA Cup.
Matt Posted 12 June 2008 Posted 12 June 2008 Bid's rejected; http://ipswichtown.myfootballwriter.com/fu...icle.asp?i=3552 Town boss Jim Magilton has admitted the Blues had a bid rejected for Gareth McAuley at the start of the summer but will wait until Leicester have appointed a new boss before launching another raid for the Northern Ireland international.Magilton wanted to secure McAuley's signature before he went on holiday but Leicester were unwilling to talk business until they have officially announced a successor to Ian Holloway, who was sacked in May following relegation to League One. Ipswich were desperate to land McAuley in the January transfer window but the Foxes rebuffed two bids before giving the 28-year-old a new contract at the Walkers Stadium. However, there is understood to be an agreement within that deal that McAuley would be allowed to move on if Leicester were relegated and Magilton is currently at the front of a queue, which includes QPR, to bring the defender to Portman Road. "We made a substantial bid a few weeks ago and it was rejected," Magilton admitted. "When we did it, we wanted to get the job done quickly but Leicester have lost their manager and are taking stock, which you can understand. "It's still early days though. It's an on going situation. As I said at the end of the season, I am not going to strive too far away from targets that we have pinned down and Gareth is someone that I feel can do a good job for us. "We will continue to monitor the situation and see what develops from there."
Father Ted Posted 12 June 2008 Posted 12 June 2008 Bid's rejected;http://ipswichtown.myfootballwriter.com/fu...icle.asp?i=3552 Just confirmation very much to something we already know.

Well it was very clear that Magilton wants him with various interviews and paper talk aswell as knowitall posts. I'm just saying that this confirms their interest for proper.

Matt Posted 12 June 2008 Posted 12 June 2008 Ipswich though?..not a great move really! Better than playing in League One.
davieG Posted 12 June 2008 Author Posted 12 June 2008 Has this been posted and will it affect any McAuley move. Ipswich have revealed that they are close to signing central defender Pim Balkestein from Heerenveen. The 21-year-old was invited for a trial at Portman Road towards the end of last season and featured for Ipswich's reserves. He impressed manager Jim Magilton and an agreement has now been reached between the sides. Balkestein has yet to finalise personal terms with Ipswich but chief executive Derek Bowden is hoping to conclude the deal soon. "Terms have been agreed between the clubs and it's now a case of agreeing personal terms with the player," Bowden told the club's official website.

dog_4 Posted 12 June 2008 Posted 12 June 2008 i actually think macualey is a crap player . he can't pass or run with the ball and is pretty useless. Amaising how he's worth 1m plus. but i'll take it and play worley alongside kisnorbo. Ending up in a better central 2 and money in the bank.
Webbo Posted 12 June 2008 Posted 12 June 2008 If we sell McAuley to Ipswich for £1million, who will we find to replace him who can a) pass the ball better and b) have more pace, for less than a million pounds? And if they're better and cheaper why don't Ipswich just buy that person instead?

And if they're better and cheaper why don't Ipswich just buy that person instead? (a) he can't pass! (b) what pace? Ipswich are a small club. They're a small club in the suburbs of Norwich. Seriously though, is this post a wind-up? I wouldn't pay more than 300k for McAuley. When you consider that whatsits (can't remember his name) went to Charlton for about half of £1m, surely this bid of £1m is way overpriced. I would take it though. Defo take that offer. You'd be daft not to.

All I'm asking is who?
