Daggers Posted 10 May 2008 Posted 10 May 2008 Come on - all of you carping on that he should be sacked, explain to me this: Why, when there is no decent, reasonable suggestion for his replacement? And Where is the severance money coming from with a drop in revenue at the club? The Contract Termination Fairy? Someone explain to me how being one million pounds worse off and not having a management team is better than what we currently have because I am ****ed if I can understand your logic. Please. :huh Can answers not include reference to his tactics, his record, his salary not being cut or his appearances in the media. Oh, and no mention of Bristol Rovers. Thanks
Bryn Posted 10 May 2008 Posted 10 May 2008 His tactics are shit, he has a record of relegation. I doubt he'd accept a paycut and his media appearances make me grimace. Oh, and he's a diehard Rovers fan, and has no loyalty to us. Nuff said really innit.
dandannieldanok Posted 10 May 2008 Posted 10 May 2008 Can answers not include reference to his tactics, his record, his salary not being cut or his appearances in the media. Oh, and no mention of Bristol Rovers. Thanks The whole discussion is redundant if people who want him sacked can't actually say the reasons why he should be. It's all about personal preference. I for one beleive there are numerous realisitic candidates out there that would be better and I for one really couldn't be bothered if it put Milan out of pocket even more, sacking Holloway is hardly going to put us close to administration.
Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 10 May 2008 Posted 10 May 2008 There is hardly a lack of reasonable replacements. Royle, Tigana, Collins, Davies... All better than Holloway.

Thanks There are plenty of young, up and coming managers out there! Darren Ferguson and Paul Ince to name a few. And everything you said at the bottom and the fact he got us relegated!
ithuriel Posted 10 May 2008 Posted 10 May 2008 he failed at the job he was brought in to do. the guy has done nothing of note in management and he has had long enough to stamp his , what goes for authority on the team. this is his team , the team that lacked any drive and could not fight its way out of an empty saloon bar with the doors removed and massive exit signs pointing the way. i like poeples excuse for wanting to keep him , we could end up with worse

O'd assume that there's something about his wages or severence in his contract.
Shrenchel Posted 10 May 2008 Posted 10 May 2008 There is hardly a lack of reasonable replacements.Royle, Tigana, Collins, Davies... All better than Holloway. You see that thing that happened last saturday?! I'm pretty sure that was relegation to the third division, not us qualifying for the uefa cup.

Daggers Posted 10 May 2008 Author Posted 10 May 2008 The whole discussion is redundant if people who want him sacked can't actually say the reasons why he should be.It's all about personal preference. I for one beleive there are numerous realisitic candidates out there that would be better and I for one really couldn't be bothered if it put Milan out of pocket even more, sacking Holloway is hardly going to put us close to administration. I agree - but I am asking for people demanding his sacking to try to articulate their emotive response rather than just trot out glib phrases. I'm considering a scenario where MM is not just going to stump up the cash to do it, where the money pot at the club is finite - if it wasn't we wouldn't be facing the wholesale restructuring of the club. There is hardly a lack of reasonable replacements.Royle, Tigana, Collins, Davies... All better than Holloway. And you seriously believe that list are going to come to a beleaguered Third Division side? Seriously? I sure as shit don't. There are plenty of young, up and coming managers out there! Darren Ferguson and Paul Ince to name a few. And everything you said at the bottom and the fact he got us relegated! Ince has said he didn't want the job when we were in the Championship. Everything I said at the bottom was stated because it bears no relation to the logic of sacking the manager without a replacement. he failed at the job he was brought in to do.the guy has done nothing of note in management and he has had long enough to stamp his , what goes for authority on the team. this is his team , the team that lacked any drive and could not fight its way out of an empty saloon bar with the doors removed and massive exit signs pointing the way. i like poeples excuse for wanting to keep him , we could end up with worse Good use of smilie. Now do you want to answer the question? One word,RELEGATION OK, scratch that one as well. hod do you know that?O'd assume that there's something about his wages or severence in his contract. Guesstimate based on the termination of the contracts of the full management team. I make no bones about it - but even if we are talking £500,000 it makes no impact on the logic on terminating them, paying them and having nothing better to replace them with. You see that thing that happened last saturday?! I'm pretty sure that was relegation to the third division, not us qualifying for the uefa cup.
josh_baskin Posted 10 May 2008 Posted 10 May 2008 Third tier of English for the first time in 124 years of the clubs history! Need anyone else say anymore!
Daggers Posted 10 May 2008 Author Posted 10 May 2008 Third tier of English for the first time in 124 years of the clubs history! Need anyone else say anymore! Yes. That was the point of the question that you didn't answer.
Dames Posted 10 May 2008 Posted 10 May 2008 People name all these names like Tigana and Royle. They were unwilling to touch us when we were in the championship, they wouldnt come within a mile of the club now. And Yeah Ince and Ferguson, Allen was an up and coming manager once. Look whats happened to him.
josh_baskin Posted 10 May 2008 Posted 10 May 2008 My answers to both questions to the thread. A chimp from Twycross Zoo. And Will cost much more in the long run given the lenght of our stay down in the depths of league 1.

coale39 Posted 10 May 2008 Posted 10 May 2008 Agree with you Daggers. There's only shit, or very unlikely, out there.
Trav Le Bleu Posted 10 May 2008 Posted 10 May 2008 There is no answer to your question DB. Not one that's absolute - at the moment, everything is speculative. With hindsight, we will know the answers. But that will be too late. Useless hindsight!
The Reverend Posted 10 May 2008 Posted 10 May 2008 The whole discussion is redundant if people who want him sacked can't actually say the reasons why he should be.It's all about personal preference. I for one beleive there are numerous realisitic candidates out there that would be better and I for one really couldn't be bothered if it put Milan out of pocket even more, sacking Holloway is hardly going to put us close to administration. The thing is, is it putting Milan out of pocket? Or is he taking on large loans in our name to pay for this sort of thing, players etc... hoping that it'll pay off? If he ****s off and he has done this, then i think we will be pretty close to administration. Anyway, not wanting to turn this into a Mandaric discussion thread..... I agree with you Daggers. Although there are better candidates out there now, ultimately we have shot ourselves in the foot by going down. We cant attract these managers.
Daggers Posted 10 May 2008 Author Posted 10 May 2008 We cant attract these managers. You see, I can fully empathise with the emotive response of getting shot of a manager who didn't perform - but no one demanding his going has been able to explain why that is in the best interests of the club when balanced against the negatives of kicking him out. Someone show me a manager who will adopt a successful, attacking style (and who would come to the club) and I'll join all of them in demanding it happen. I've not seen one realistic proposal aside from Newell and I'm just not convinced that he is any better than Holloway. Until that happens it looks as though I am going to have to sit on the Holloway bus with my fingers crossed. Also, it appears that the seats are starting to fill up again with people giving up on waiting for another bus to come.
lookwhaticando Posted 10 May 2008 Posted 10 May 2008 There are plenty of young, up and coming managers out there! Duncan Ferguson and Paul Ince to name a few. And everything you said at the bottom and the fact he got us relegated! Big Dunc seems to be a recurring theme.

Thanks There have been perfectly reasonable managerial suggestions put forward. And while you might wonder how the loss of £1m might affect us I'm more concerned with how much Holloway has already cost us through relegation. While they woulkn't necessarily be my first choice I'd sooner have Beaglehole/Taggart than Holloway and if we went in that direction we'd probably save money overall as well. We'd also have people who know our club and our players inside out.
Father Ted Posted 10 May 2008 Posted 10 May 2008 Big Dunc seems to be a recurring theme. I wrote Darren Ferguson Because I would never have Duncan as manager, especially after this:
