Daggers Posted 12 May 2008 Author Posted 12 May 2008 Just read the poll Milan.Around 72% of fans want him out. By "our survey said" standards, that's a landslide. So even you should be able to get this decision right. Statistics can mean anything Thracian. For a start, the number of people voting is far different to the normal number of people voting in FT and this coincides with a rise in visitors from other clubs and numpties with more than one account trolling around the forum. I suspect the real figure would be much more a 50-50 split...especially if you then added in a 'Don't know' option. Also, look at the fickle swing over the four polls run over the last four weeks of the season and you will see that the emotive response to the activity on the pitch that game dictates a sense of feeling for a week only - you have to admit that there has been a softening of opinion on Holloway. This said, I have been giving it a lot of thought since starting this thread and have welcomed the opinions of those sensible enough to debate in a mature fashion...and I have come to a decision based on logic and not emotion. If we can source another manager of ability then I am decided we should go down that route. I don't believe that having a bad season makes someone a bad manager - but Ollie has had a very bad half season. Ultra, I think it was, posed the question "How do you know he can turn it around?" And the answer is 'I don't'. Having moved on to the fence I can't fail to be delighted by whatever happens this afternoon
Ric Flair Posted 12 May 2008 Posted 12 May 2008 Come on - all of you carping on that he should be sacked, explain to me this: Why, when there is no decent, reasonable suggestion for his replacement? And Where is the severance money coming from with a drop in revenue at the club? The Contract Termination Fairy? Someone explain to me how being one million pounds worse off and not having a management team is better than what we currently have because I am ****ed if I can understand your logic. Please. :huh Can answers not include reference to his tactics, his record, his salary not being cut or his appearances in the media. Oh, and no mention of Bristol Rovers. Thanks There are plenty of reasonable suggestions for his replacement, but that's the line a lot of fans wheel out when our manager is under pressure after failing. I remember the same being said under Adams, Levein, Kelly, Allen, the list goes on. Thius one million pounds malarky as well. Ok, so we could well do without having to pay the useless prat's contract up in full when he's done nothing to deserve it, but on the other hand I don't think we should be bent over a barrel ourselves and be stuck with a manager whose not right for this club because we can't afford to bounce him out. If Mandaric is worried too much about the cost of getting rid, take a leaf out of Ken Bates book and do a spot of Gross Breach of Misconduct or something. See him in court for a settlement. Ian Holloway is not the right man for the job here. It's a shame as he did well at Plymouth and he has a promotion from League One to his name at QPR, but he also has 2 or 3 relegations to his name. He took QPR down and then eventually got them back up, but I see no evidence of that happening here as the settings are completely different. This club has forgotten how to win and Holloway has had a hand in that. Until it finds out how to do that again, we'll not be gracing the top two divisions again for quite some time. In fact, our team over the past 4 years, which has been a tad embarrassing has always escaped defeat on a regular basis but sadly drew to many games. Under Holloway, we lost a lot more games than under previous managers. Why? How did this happen, money was spent as well. The one thing Ollie is perceived to have in his armory is motivational skills, couple that with a bit of cash to spend and it should have been all gun's blazing for him. A chance to buy some quality and make his mark on a team that has under-achieved. But he failed miserably, wasted the cash and left us relegated. I know it's not all his fault, but how can anyone back someone who has just done that? I'll do a list of replacements if you want, but I do appreciate that the way things have gone in recent years all of our managers have failed and questions do have to be asked what is the root problem.
Thracian Posted 12 May 2008 Posted 12 May 2008 Actually, fook it. Let him stay. He's not that bad. :D Potential replacements that bad?
Daggers Posted 12 May 2008 Author Posted 12 May 2008 Actually, fook it. Let him stay. He's not that bad. Emotionally, I would want to leap on his nuts - but trying to look at the situation in a detached manner means I am wondering just what he has done wrong. The only major flaw I see has been to avoid playing youth - if that is a flaw. There has to be a reason for it and I would like to think it was to protect their development from the stigma of failure. But I simply don't know. For me - it all comes down to the quality of the replacement, it would have to be something that finally moves this club forward after all these years of shit. Supporting City feels like supporting an alcoholic - you are never quite sure when the lowest point has arrived and you can start to build for the future and enjoy life again!
OriginalRobboFOX Posted 12 May 2008 Posted 12 May 2008 If the 'masses' do want him gone and he goes then fair enough, the majority will have spoken I guess. But I wont be happy. Some of the names as potential replacements should he go are laughable... Tigana? Collins? What people are expecting and what we'll end up with are two very different types of manager in class and reputation...
Daggers Posted 12 May 2008 Author Posted 12 May 2008 What people are expecting and what we'll end up with are two very different types of manager in class and reputation... That's my fear. "Meet the new boss, same as the old boss"

I'm still on the fence about Holloway, yes he got us relegated etc. But these people say Allardyce, Davies etc, I don't think it is going to happen, We will get someone on par with Ollie, if not worse, that is my fear anyway
Master Fox Posted 12 May 2008 Posted 12 May 2008 It's true Raj, but that doesn't include you. I'm talking about 80%, most people on FT don't come under that percentage. But some do.
Tilley Posted 12 May 2008 Posted 12 May 2008 http://www.thebluearmy.co.uk/details.asp?b...6269754|p|536|0 Won't be decided today! Hendrie, Clapham, Alnwick, Hungarians gone.

Manwell Pablo Posted 12 May 2008 Posted 12 May 2008 I just can't look past him wasting all that money and somehow making the team worse and getting us relegated. Sorry. Has to go, he no longer has the right to manage this club.

Supporting City feels like supporting an alcoholic - you are never quite sure when the lowest point has arrived and you can start to build for the future and enjoy life again! I'm tending to agree with you here in a roundabout fashion. I do feel massively disatisfied with Holloway though, but i've never been a massive fan of his and I reckon that's why i'm first to pick up on his every mistake. I want a manager who will transform this club, make it feel new and exciting. Can he do that? We've got a nucleus of young talent coming through the academy and now we are in the lower depths of English football, I want a manager who is willing to put the time and effort in to developing them at Leicester and with that helping this club find that winning mentality and go back up to the Championship where we have a squad, with a few additions and the confidence to give the Championship a much better going over than we've managed in the past 4 years.
clazkel Posted 12 May 2008 Posted 12 May 2008 http://www.thebluearmy.co.uk/details.asp?b...6269754|p|536|0Won't be decided today! Hendrie, Clapham, Alnwick, Hungarians gone. It's ashame Hendrie has gone back, but it was always gonna happen when we went down Milan has to make the right decision, i don't know if its best Holloway goes or not. If he stays he needs to sort his tactics, substitutions and team selection out. If he goes then i would prefer not to have someone who has been to lots of clubs, i would like someone linked to Leicester and who can get the players to play for the shirt rather than playing for their wages. Walshie, Taggart, Cottee or Claridge (i know it wouldn't happen as he does a great job on setatanta, but i would love Claridge as manager) would bring the spirit back to the club, and thats what we need!
Benji Posted 12 May 2008 Posted 12 May 2008 I didn't ever vote for this Government but the masses decided that's what I had to put up with.I wonder how big your voice would have been for the dissenter had 99% of the poll wanted to retain Holloway. hahaha how big my voice would have been? I don't come on here looking for fan recognition or to be envied by hundreds of computer screens. I would have said exactly the same thing if he was the only out-with-holloway person on FT, isn't that the idea of having an opinion. Personally i don't know whether he should stay or go, but to be honest i didn't want warnock and look how that has smacked us in the face. I don't doubt that majorities should decide matters, it's the ignorance towards 'the other side' that I do.
mancunianfox Posted 12 May 2008 Posted 12 May 2008 At the end of the day Holloway somehow made the team worse after spending a lot of money. He didn't improve our home form much and our away form became dire after he took over. He made a big mistake in changing the team every single week and he was tactically poor. He had no idea what his best team was and chose to play a bunch of unmotivated old men as opposed to some of the younger talent that we have. Nothing he has done since November suggests to me that he can get us winning regularly and out of league one.

No. Absolutely not. Are these guys qualified to manage a professional football team for a start? Spirit is nothing without application.
Thracian Posted 12 May 2008 Posted 12 May 2008 "I am wondering just what he has done wrong. Knowing and often appreciating your sense of humour, I just wonder if that's a serious statement. Or whether we're even talking about the same Ian Holloway who's......... Never mind. The "things wrong" might, at least in my eyes, fill the pages of War and Peace". But I'm not going to hark back to them. As TPH so rightly said on another occasion, "it's a lovely sunny day" and, unlike weekends, the golf course today will be relatively quiet.

Do you wear stupid trousers and a flat cap when you play?
