The Vance monologue this week was totally hilarious. He is such a bad actor, he believes none of this crap. He's like that guy in the office that is in every call looking flustered and busy, but no one knows what the hell he does.

I actually think Vance is more ideological than Trump. He comes across as someone who's been quite radicalised by spending too much time on social media and is out for revenge against the libs that constantly occupy his mind.

I wouldn't be so harsh on Disney on this. It's been suggested that Disney had to fire him or have their licence to broadcast reviewed / revoked.

Just like trump is pursuing a 15B dollar lawsuit against The New York Times.

Just like Vance told employers to sack anyone making fun of the Charlie Kirk death.

Just like no one is talking about the lynching of 2 black guys in Mississippi this week or the white supremecist who shot people at a school this week. Or the 2 mass shootings of homeless people just after a Fox news commentator homeless people should be killed.

There's a fascist take over happening in the US right now and if we're not careful it can happen here too.

4 people were arrested for projecting a picture of trump and Epstein on to a building.

The news and current affairs programmes are basically hijacked in this country in favour of reform. Just look at news bulletina and question time etc.

Disappointing that a billion dollar company like Disney are choosing to bend the knee instead of litigating, but I see they paid out 15 million to settle a defamation lawsuit to Trump last year, so have form for it.  Can’t see Trump winning his case against the NYT, or at least hope not.  As you say Fox can get away with inciting the murder of homeless people without censure.  Since this is just the beginning of Trump’s second term, project 2025 is in full swing.

Basically everyone is 'woke' in America, left and right. Very silly country that unfortunately poisons our own political and social discourse.

Everyone is either Woke or Racist with no inbetween. If you don't want to engage then you're a snowflake.

And it's getting the same over here too.

And all the time there are problems gathering pace that need a unified response to address or will cause terrible harm.

What can they do? NYT will have to settle otherwise Trump will shut them down, he's got until 2028 to make as much money as possible and he's committed to his agenda. Eric 2028 won't be anywhere near as profitable as this opportunity.

Similar to Farage and Robinson here, they know they prob have 6 - 18 months to cash in bigtime before the snowflakes of Britain find some other rage bait.

This is a very 2017 post. Nowadays you are either a radical left wing nutjob or a crybaby right wing lunatic.

Disney have the resources to tie up him in the courts.  Not sure how Trump will shut NYT down, unless he bankrupts them, which is unlikely.   Maybe by 2028, the Democrats will actually be able to put out a strong candidate to thwart whatever dynasty plans Trump might have.

It's nothing to do with money or resources, Trump holds all the power and all must bow down to him, or get cancelled. Look what he did with the Paramount/Skydance merger, that's a $28bn entity and they still had to pay Trump a $36m bribe and cancel Colbert to get the deal done.

The most elite law firms in the world have given $100m's of pro bono work to him because they were Democrats. Kirkland and Ellis the most powerful law firm in the world with charge out rates in 4 figures kissing the ring.

No one is going to tie him up in the courts, that's a naive view IMO.

If the courts and the legislature won't act as a check and balance, I fear that most of the remaining options for neutralising both Trump and the ideology he is pushing become rather ugly.

Good thing about Trump is he is clear as day. 'Oppose me and I'll take your licence away' - No one can dare speak against him, never mind take him to court.

My current gear-grinding advert is the eBay one where the guy’s just bought new speakers. As someone who’s had past troubles with a noisy neighbour, I don’t find it humorously charming and instead I absolutely loathe the fictional c.

Went Tesco petrol station, pay at pump, the screen said take up to £93 (its usually £120 but i think £93 was all that was in the account).

Anyway, after several attempts, no fuel was coming out and eventually my card was declined.

i assumed the account had insufficient funds and thought no more of it, put £20 on the credit card instead.

Checking my account later i see a pending charge of £93.

The £93 has been "taken" from me unless the charge is somehow cancelled.

No fuel was taken, not to mention my tank isnt big enough for £93's worth.

It's not as if I'm already seeing enough ads on both platforms, FB in particular.

Couriers are getting worse. Yesterday Yodel didn't come anywhere near my house but updated the tracking to say they'd tried to deliver and left a card. Today they left it in my safe place of front porch. I don't have a porch, so that's not my nominated safe place. It was actually dumped in a flower bed.

The Inpost parcel being returned to a seller, which I dropped off on 15th Oct has been delivered to a parcel box in Bradford. Unfortunately, the seller lives in Dorset.

And, a parcel I sent with Evri has gone from out for delivery, on Wednesday, to requiring a specialist due to its size. It's a pair of trainers!

Twats, the lot of them.

"Discretionary service charges" on restaurant bills...

Or rather, the sheer impudence at being asked why I want to remove it...

BECAUSE ITS BLOODY OPTIONAL!

I've just paid £7 for a beer, £13 for a cocktail, and you want to add a further 12.5%?  Of which 2.5% goes straight to the Government!

NO!   SOD OFF!

I don't like the card readers that ask for a tip when you're paying up front and haven't even received any service. I do tip usually, but wouldn't if service was poor.

Actually, not keen on tipping using a card in any case, since there's no guarantee the server will get the full amount.

The stupid wrist kissing, praying, and all the other stupid little symbols and gestures that football players do.

They aren't pious. They're not religious. It's all for attention.

Some of the ones like Daka and Mane are the worst for it. Not think to pray in the changing rooms, perhaps, given that prayer is silent and personal contemplation? No? Needs to be done in front of thousands and on TV?

Attention hungry clowns.

What makes it not religious?

It's just a 'prayer' or a way of thanking God if it's a celebration of a goal I imagine.

It only lasts a few seconds. What harm is this actually doing for you, just out of interest?

I went to Rome recently, and in one of the restaurants the service was absolutely terrible. Everything was slow and he forgot all about our drinks.

We genuinely didn't have enough cash on us for a tip but usually specifically ask to add it to the bill. This guy was harassing us and telling us there's a cashpoint 10 metres away. Normally, I'm quite generous with tips and will give a good tip for average service but I was so pissed off, I just said no.

This thread isn't about what actually harms us.

But it is just performative nonsense.

Yeah, I'm the same. Average service will get a decent tip and above average a little more.
