Things you're looking forward to

i'm starting to think relagation could have a positive effect on the club. One good season and promotion would bring back confidence and a winning mentality back to the club. Also i really don't think much money needs to be spent. Having porter on the left and gradel on the right is a good start, hume up front and fingers crossed but maybe unlikely stearman right back and mattock left back with worley centre back has a free replacement for gareth macualey. I'd certainly love to see graham kavanaugh has a leader brought in and nicky maynard has a goalscorer. Is Kavanaugh a free agent now?

I'm looking forward to everything about the upcoming season. I've finally shrugged off the disappointment of relegation and started looking at the positives. It's not going to be an easy season but I think we can be successful if the club gives 100%.

I'm particularly looking forward to a few of the pre-season games and the away days. Should be a cracking season.

Did i really just read that you say Porter is TRUE CLASS!!!!

Evidence please!!!!!!

I think the onus is now on YOU to provide a coherent argument as to why you don't rate him.

I don't completely agree with Daggers. 21 minutes of impressive wing play isn't enough for me and in the games I saw him play in before he wasn't as convincing. But then he was being restricted by a defensive minded manager. I'm not getting my hopes up because it's always difficult to predict how a player will respond after a long term injury. But I am looking forward to seeing him play and I do think he could cause a lot of problems to full backs in League One.

So smokey, for what reasons do you think he's "shocking"?

I'm looking forward to the clouds lifting at last.

Sometimes football works like the passage a sailing ship, with clubs slipping into the doldrums for seasons on end only to finally catch a breath of wind and suddenly start skimming the waves again.

On the face of it we're well enough set with a mostly decent crew, the time to get shipshape and a new, still youngish skipper with much to prove.

All that worries me is having Mandaric holding the tiller.

First he took us into the squall that was Martin Allen, then he guided us up Gary Megson creek which left us stranded and finally he steered us into the Plymouth Rock that was Ian Holloway, where we immediately started shipping water and finally sank (see DavieG illustration!).

Pearson's first role is to act as a bouyancy aid and, once we're refloated and important seaworthy trails completed, perhaps we can plot a steady and sustainable course towards the treasure island of Premiership football which drives Commodore Mandaric like Moby dick drove Captain Ahab.

Failing that, those back-to-back wins would be a start. :D:thumbup:

I don't just want back to back wins, I want side to side ones, back to front ones and upside down ones.

That's five in a row.

Am I asking the impossible.

Why is the onus on me James?

Its my opinion that i think he is shocking and in all games he as played thats what i believe from what ive seen.

He's an ok crosser, but not that pacy and far too small and weak for a high standard!

I can only go on his peformances for our club, i ask you James or Daggers, name the games and the reasons why you think Porter is TRUE CLASS!!

mmmm Im waiting

I think we still need to work on winning one in a row, to be fair.

I remember thinking Porter was our best player at the time Milan joined the club. Apparently when he came on at Palace last year he was excellent. He is a great prospect/player and I hope he gets back into the team next year.

Porter when he first started out but he just seemed to get worse. He has such good pace and ability to beat his man but never uses it which winds me up so much. He's also too lightweight and small. But has the ability if he can use...

He is shorter than me. I always worry when I see a footballer shorter than me.

Hopefully seeing the potential of our youngsters acually coming to fruition or perhaps even being given the chance to play.

I was looking forward to an end to the manager speculation and then the inevitable whinging about the appointment. Hooray - that's all done and dusted now.

It's time to look to the future:

I am excited at the prospect of the many away days coming up and a season in L1, going to work on Mondays with a voice croaking from a Saturday afternoon's punishment. I can't wait to go Yeovil, Chelmsford and the Cobblers.

I'm anxious to see Porter back to the team, I'm thinking he could destroy teams in this league if he's allowed to support the front two from deep midfield. Not to mention our youngsters being bloodied in the first team and a couple of decent additions over the summer. Whether he can withstand the tackles he's going to receive is another matter entirely. I hope Maxi hasn't been over-hyped, I've never seen the lad play and yet the thought of having a winger who can actually run, cross and score is mouth-watering.

And then there's the Holy Grail of anticipations - the first back2back win. As they almost say for the little crème eggs, how will you celebrate yours?

The First chant will send the shivers to me.

I want a player whos going to rip the league apart.

The buzz you get when you see a 30 000 strong crowd down the Walkers and there's seconds to go before kick-off.

I can't wait. That game against Sheff Wed had me absolutely buzzing. Shame about the result.

I'm also looking forward to some of those away games - Northampton, Hereford, Peterborough...

The opening game, the opening goal (for us :fc:) and the blind optimism that comes with it.

Most of all I just want a team that will take pride in it's shirt, have respect for the fans and go close to living up to everyone's expectations for a change.

I'm sick of being let down, make me fu<king proud for a change you b@stards :scarf:

Agreed I can remember Luton away start of 06/07 as we all got off the coach the whole road just covered with Blue and the sudden outbust of Leicester, Leicester, Leicester, Lestooohhhh, absolutely brilliant.

I can't wait to walk up those famous L1 steps again.
