Good points and sure her opponent hasn't endorsed the war in Ukraine.

Once is maybe fair to make her feelings known but get on with it after that.

If it was a Russian I’d maybe understand but it’s a Belarusian. The country that 80% voted out the dictator but he stayed anyway. I highly doubt that player supports the war.

Emma Raducanu: Former US Open Champion splits with fifth coach in less than two years - https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/tennis/65776353

More coaches than National Express

Shouldn’t have sacked the one that helped her to the title, I’m sure her training regime everything suited her at the time and maybe just pushing it too hard now. She made 4R of Wimbledon and looked in superb shape throughout the US Open. People in ears though and because he wasn’t an ‘elite’ coach he got the chop

He was never staying on, he was local coach who had no desire to carry on coaching her and travelling the world. He'd trained her whilst she was home studying and said he'd go to the US Open to help but that was it. That's not true he got the chop because he wasn't an elite coach, it was his choice.

Yep this. He was her coach growing up who stepped in.

I think if she can stay fit she should get back to the top, and the best coaches will want to work with her to get there.  Difficult for a coach to sit around while she misses months of training and competition.  He probably got a better offer.

Alcaraz is a machine. Lost it a bit in that 3rd set but absolutely blew Tsitsipas away for majority of that match. Had his number all game.

Expected more from the Greek.

Yup. But a super entertaining one! I am not surprised that Alcaraz won in three, but more comfortable than I thought it would be. Friday is going to be so interesting… I think I will back Novak because of his experience, but it really could go either way.

Same. Very entertaining. Reminds me of an early Nadal.

Will be interesting to see how he does on the grass. Last year he just set himself up to fail by not playing any warm ups, but he is down to play queens this time round. I remember watching Rafa in his first Wimbledon (I am sure it was on one of the smaller outside courts which looking back seems crazy as it must have been off the back of his first french open win). Anyhow, he didn’t impress me that much at the time, but of course he managed to develop his grass court tennis. Carlos I think will adapt that bit quicker, especially considering how confident he is at the net, but we will see!

Alcaraz picked up an injury apparently.

So unfortunate.

Shame for him .

Yeah such a shame, he got cramp at the beginning of the third set and never recovered. The first 2 sets were great, but after he got cramp the result was inevitable.

They both went into that match like it was a final. Novaks intensity in the first set was mad considering how little he has played, and Carlos you could tell was super tense. Some absolutely brilliant stuff in there and it has potential to have been a match we were talking about for years, but sadly not to be. The positives I will take from

that (as someone is just relishing in watching Alcarazs career developing) he can compete with Novak at the highest level. Nice words in recognition from Novak at the end. Surely only one winner for this tournament now.

This is why Murray is actually one of the best, to have beaten Djokovic in slams takes so much. He was just unlucky to have been in the greatest era of all time otherwise Murray would have won a lot more slams,

That he won three Slams alongside Federer, Nadal and Djokovic is a more monumental achievement than many give credit for, yes.

That being said, there are a few What if? moments from the latter half of 2013 and 2016-17 where you wonder if he could have gotten a couple more, because at those times he was better than all of them.

An issue for him has been that he struggles to be clinical enough in the earlier rounds. Far too often he has gone to four or five sets in matches he should have won in three. Part of the nature of a defensive rather than aggressive player I guess, but it’s hard to compete as well as you would like in finals in you have sprinting several hours longer on court than your opponent.

on a positive note he is into the final in Surbiton, so a good start to the grass court season.

I'd be interested to know if his record on that is any worse than, say, Djokovic, given that Djoko's style has been very much to outlast his opposition in match and tournament too.
