General pop, let the inmates deliver justice in their own way.

I think we're just hearing about more of them in this digital age where it's a bit easier for it to come to light.

That's not a very comforting explanation though, that these cases are prevalent but in the past we didn't hear about them as much. And there does seem to be a startlingly high number of high profile child abuse cases coming to light in England, involving both organized gangs and individuals as with this case. I feel like almost every month a story comes to light in England that previously would have caused massive notoriety and disgust, but now seems more like par for the course.

It really isn't very comforting, I agree - apart from the rather macabre comfort that humans are at least no more inhuman to other humans now than they were in the past.

The stories themselves coming to light with more regularity and that being both grim and dangerously normalised is IMO down to the ubiquity of information we have at our fingertips now, and how we deal with that in a healthy way is a whole other debate. You're right in that the current status quo is deeply unhealthy, so something does need to change.

The focus on OCGs is huge, both in public and what the police are focusing on. Plays a significant part in County Lines and the more that's brought to light the better. Ruins not only the child's life but the families they're part of.

It's massive, constant focus and has a huge impact on society so I do believe it is reported more. Not only to show that that's what they're tasked to do and focus on, but the fact is to raise awareness and make people realise this shit is happening on our doorstep. So to help identify the signs and report it earlier before it's too late.

It's obviously terrible and horrific as to the scale it happens, but the more it's reported the better because it does highlight it. Agree it's not comforting in the slightest, and why should it be, but that's the truth of life these days.

Perhaps then an underrated benefit of social media and the internet in general is that it shines a light on these dark corners of our society we'd rather pretend don't exist. Not gonna lie it does feel a little like society is coming apart at the seams at the moment but sure maybe it's always been that way.

Stephen Miller.

No further elaboration required.

Possibly the most distasteful of all of Trump’s lackeys and since he’s competing with a woman who shot her own puppy in the face that’s no mean feat.

It's always great to excel at something, isn't it?

Piotr Szczerek, the millionaire CEO who snatched a hat meant for a child at the US Open.

“Yes, I took it. Yes, I did it quickly. But as I’ve always said, life is first come, first served… If you were faster, you would have it… I remind you that insulting a public figure is subject to legal liability. All offensive comments, slander, and insinuations will be analyzed for the possibility of taking the matter to court.”

Clearly Mr. Szczerek requires an object lesson in what the kind of social Darwinism he likes would really mean for him if someone was coming for him with something on their mind.

Perhaps a member of the public may end up providing that lesson to him.

Let's hope so.

Killing a Ukrainian refugee in cold blood, for no reason at all. What the hell is wrong with people?

Awful. You do wonder how this bloke wasn't dealt with by the appropriate government entities before this.

That being said, as if the talking heads going on about this care about Ukrainians - or women - except to utilise them as chat capital at times like this.

Also, after she was stabbed he just walked off, and then everyone else in the carriage just walked off, not a single person even stopped to check on her, let alone try and help her. Just left her there alone to bleed to death.

Two people did try to help but it was too late. I think I read a male took his shirt off to try and stop the bleeding but it was 1minute 40seconds after.

But, yeah, the majority stand filming which seems to be the way nowadays.

Death Penalty surely?

You'd hope, but reckon there'll be a strong mitigation case in the court proceedings (i.e., his previous mental health issues; plus his Mother wanted him in a Psychiatric hospital, but apparently such a plea got ignored).

It's just as staggering the people on the carriage who just stood there and let her bleed out - I can't get my head round it.

There is a similarity to another famous crime a few years back that blew up america and world wide, with roles reversed, but you just can't go there.

Want to put their lack of reaction down to their 'shock' of the situation, but you never know - especially in the US.
