Vo Rogue Posted 2 October 2008 Posted 2 October 2008 Needs games? Ha!If he plays every match during the three months then I'll put money on him returning injured. I said it last season - Weso simply doesn't cut it. When push comes to shove he's nothing more than a boxer with a glass jaw. He's still not convinced me he's good enough for us irrespective of the league we are in and this is his last chance to prove something; he needs a run of games where he performs really well because if he doesn't convince at Cheltenham then the only way is down. As an aside, I find it interesting that we're helping Allen out. I think Allens helping himself out.
Uncle Albert Posted 2 October 2008 Posted 2 October 2008 I'm a Jimmy fan. Hope he can return here and get a place in the team, can see him being sold in January though.
Salieri Posted 2 October 2008 Posted 2 October 2008 Bit disappointed tbh. Was thinking the other day how nice it is to have good cover throughout the squad. If Oakley and/or King get injured what cover have we got now? Kish : unfit and getting on a bit, Adams and Porter : not natural central midfielders and Clemence : injured for sometime yet. I'm not gonna lose any sleep over it as im sure NP knows what he's doing and IF Oakley and King stay fit and Weso gets some games then it will be a good move for all concerned.
Jack Posted 2 October 2008 Posted 2 October 2008 Personally I think that this is a joke, I think on his day he is one of if not the best centre mid we have.
iancognito Posted 2 October 2008 Posted 2 October 2008 Don't even joke about it. You mean his best position isn't midfield? Even if we didn't have cover, I'm sure Pearson could loan in someone from those nice people at Liverpool. There must be more where Hobbs and Martin came from, maybe even "the new Gerrard".
Maybes Posted 2 October 2008 Posted 2 October 2008 Personally I think that this is a joke, I think on his day he is one of if not the best centre mid we have. The thing is mate, he just doesn't have enough of them at the moment. I think it will be a good move. He will be getting first team games under his belt at this level and if he can keep injury free maybe he will get a few games when he comes back? Either that or it will increase the fee we get for him
Rich Fox Posted 2 October 2008 Posted 2 October 2008 Clever decision from Pearson he will find out whether weslowski can last 3 months without getting injured if not just bin him.
Thracian Posted 2 October 2008 Posted 2 October 2008 Personally I think that this is a joke, I think on his day he is one of if not the best centre mid we have. The stats would seem to disagree. Weso's projected record would have kept us up had he not had such an injury hit and otherwise sidelined season because in the 14 League games he started we collected 17 points from four wins, five draws and five defeats. But he didn't feature at all in 23 of our League games and, in five more of them, he didn't get more than 15 minutes or so which, for a young guy who started the season as first choice was hardly the greatest advertisement for his durability. And that points record, while good enough to keep us up was still inconsequential and a long way short of the l9 points from eight games pace we've set so far this season. I firmly believe that Pearson initially changed Wesolowski for King during pre-season in the belief that it would give him greater defensive insurance, particularly aerially, and also an additional creative and goalscoring threat going forward if needs be. Our record suggests that to have been the case and, perhaps just as important, King rarely dives into tackles but more or less shepherds players into no-man's land, therefore negating their effect. In consequence he doesn't risk injury nearly as often as Weso does with his combative style. Tiatto was the same. He was forever getting injured (or booked) and it doesn't help if you're a manager who likes a settled side that he can rely on. So, those and other things considered, I see no way that Weso represents a better bet than King and we all knew Weso was never going to get skipper Oakley's place.
Jonezy Posted 2 October 2008 Posted 2 October 2008 I think Berner mentioned in his interview, that he could play all over the pitch, so there is another one we can stick in there should we get hit by suspensions and annoying injuries. There is always a loan to turn to as well, so cover options are plenty and Weso will get some 1st team footie for a few months. Sound decision by Nigel.
Daggers Posted 2 October 2008 Posted 2 October 2008 Personally I think that this is a joke, I think on his day he is one of if not the best centre mid we have. Shame there's 364 others though, eh?
Ric Flair Posted 3 October 2008 Posted 3 October 2008 In terms of what? A few years ago I'd have agreed, but since his injuries he's just a ball winner, nothing more. No defence splitting passes, no goals his ability to strike a ball is very poor. King edges it for me. I've come to terms with this loan in the hope he can rediscover himself. I am going on past glories (well past performances) I know. There's something about Wesolowski when he plays well that get's me excited about football again, which very few players do. He hasn't been THAT player for a while and this loan move is probably a great idea, I just find it a little odd given our lack of options with Clemence and Kishishev injured. That performance against Villa in the cup will live with me for as long as I live, probably the best ball winning central midfield performance from a Leicester player since Lennon. I know that was a long time ago and the lad's career has gone south, but I would love nothing more than to see him become successful with us. We lack bite in midfield and he has that, he did have a decent pass, a decent engine and an eye for goal a few years back. I just hope he can find all of that again as there aren't many midfielders who can do all of that. I don't want to sound like I don't rate King either, as I do. He goes about his business efficiently for the first team. Quite restrained, but he does his job. He also will score his fair share of goals, I just hope he can be given more licence to stamp his authority on games like he has done for the academy and reserves where he often ran the show.
The Reverend Posted 3 October 2008 Posted 3 October 2008 Well...... i didnt see this pne coming. I think its good for him though. He needs football, and as someone else has said i think its clever from Pearson. 3 months is enough to gauge whether he has it in him to stay fit for a prolonged period. Pearson isnt stupid - he'll have done his homework on him.
Vo Rogue Posted 3 October 2008 Posted 3 October 2008 Not mentioned by Pearson any where. Possibly wasnt in his plans?
Bert Posted 3 October 2008 Posted 3 October 2008 Not mentioned by Pearson any where. Possibly wasnt in his plans? He was. King has just shown that atm, his all round game is better. Weso wants to be playing, but with a solid cm partnership so far, he can't change it.
smokey Posted 3 October 2008 Posted 3 October 2008 Clever decision from Pearson he will find out whether weslowski can last 3 months without getting injured if not just bin him. Good shout! I think that's exactly what Pearson is doing because if he plays every game in the 3 months and impresses then his injury hell could be over but this is a big 3 months in Jimbos career, basically make or break. I think Andy King needs a bit of praise for quietly impressing in pre-season and staying ever present since, he does nothing spectacular but he must be doing something right as we are letting no goals in and if i bet if you asked our back four, they would say King plays a bit part in that sitting in front of them.
Anish Posted 3 October 2008 Posted 3 October 2008 Good move. He needs to recapture his early promise and psychologically get back to being strong again, and the only way he can do that is playing week in week out and making tackles. I've not been overly impressed with Weso over the last year or so, mainly because he isn't the best passer and his shooting technique needs improvement. But given a run of games he may become the player that had so much potential a few years ago.

I'd imagine we'll still be paying a fair part of his wages, so his move is unlikely to be permanent. If Weso can recover his form and confidence, he may still have a future here.
davieG Posted 4 October 2008 Posted 4 October 2008 Wonder if he had a good game? According to Mark - http://www.foxestalk.co.uk/forums/index.ph...t&p=1133373
davieG Posted 19 October 2008 Posted 19 October 2008 Now played 3 full 90 minute games. W1 D1 L1(to league leaders).
Mark Posted 19 October 2008 Posted 19 October 2008 http://www.robinsnestforum.co.uk/viewtopic.php?t=22965 They love him down there, making it a permanent signing doesn't wash well with me though.
Jimmy Posted 19 October 2008 Posted 19 October 2008 wasn't he sent on loan specifically to get 1st team football and not because he wanted out?
