I don't ever watch this shit but I just read that it's got a couple of Ofcom investigations up against it at the moment. One of them for this....

I'm not usually a "what have we become" type person but what the **** have we become where the humiliation of two kids because of their delusional mother is broadcastable entertainment.

Brunton, who described herself as sounding like Madonna, stunned judges with her Lady Gaga song on The X Factor which aired on 1 September.

Her children – a 14-year-old girl and 16-year-old boy – were repeatedly shown looking horrified and humiliated by their mother's appearance on the show. Guest judge Mel B described the audition as "horrific".

Ofcom has received 35 complaints about the impact of the audition on Brunton's children, prompting the media regulator to launch an investigation under rules relating to under 18-year-olds appearing in TV shows.

According to section 1 of the Ofcom broadcasting code ITV has a responsibility to take "due care of the physical and emotional welfare and dignity of people under 18 who take part or are otherwise involved in programmes".

ITV has this responsibility regardless of consent given by Brunton for her children to be filmed, with the rule stating that under 18s must not be "caused unnecessary distress or anxiety by their involvement in programmes or by the broadcast of those programmes".

Humiliation sells, man, it is the new sex, how long before we get the sex factor where women, men whatever whatever line up to fvck Simon Cowell and his cronies and then get their performance publicly rated and shamed in front of the nation.

The winner gets to perform with Pudsey the dog at the royal variety show in front of the queen.

Can't fvcking wait, the only thing surprising about that story is that anyone is actually surprised

As I don't usually watch it I was under the impression that they usually wheel out the freak show of the borderline mentally ill to be laughed at but I wasn't aware that they actually intercut that laughter with the pained looks on their close to tears relatives as well.

I need to go and watch God Bless America again.

Actually feel awful for those two. Being that age is torture enough without being forcefully put through this by their mentally ill mother.

Anyone watching this shit? Has there been a single contestant who hasn't burst into tears yet? Even before they've been told to feck off.

:crylaugh: @ Tulisa, Nicole and Louis preaching how there are singers who can't sing and shouldn't be left in the competition, I can only think they are eluding to people such as Rylan, Didn't Tulisa vote for him to win the sing-off only a few weeks ago? :dunno:

Serves you right love.

I want Rylan to win, I hate him but I want him to win to show what a mockery the programme is, he'll flop quite quick so it's win-win really. Vote Rylan.

IMO there are no real decent, stand out people in it this year anyway.

I'm embarrassed about how many people still get annoyed about this show. On my facebook there are 5 statuses in the last 5 minutes saying the same thing. Shock horror, it's a fix and the biggest freak on the show isn't getting voted off even though he's talentless.

Joke isn't it, I watch it when i'm in/it's on but don't go out my way to watch it and even then it's only to laugh at the freak show, talentless people, and bickering. I'm sure it genuinely makes or breaks certain people's weekends.

The biggest thing that makes me laugh is every week on Facebook you consistantly get the same people saying;

This is why I don't watch X-Factor.

Erm if you are commenting about it, surely you are watching it?

or

That's it, I'm not watching X-Factor again

Then they post a similar thing the following week.

lol Yep exactly.

I've just posted a status mocking them, hoping to get some bites ;)

After tonight it is definitely the shittest show on tv.

Probably the two best contestants on the show, in the bottom 2 never looks good.

People will say X Factor went to the dumps time ago, but for me tonight is the end of it.

Utter shit.

If this week was a fix, then surely the only explanation is to get more people to vote and fool them into thinking their favourites "aren't safe". Can't believe they'd be that stupid to annoy this many people, but it's different people in the bottom 2 every week; making me think otherwise. Them 2 will both get record deals and are already big enough to get No.1s no matter what they release anyway.

I haven't watched a minute of this series so I have no idea if the people who have gone off are any good. But I'm pretty sure there is a rule that the ones voted off can't release anything for a year. If I was on that show I'd want to get something out as soon as possible and stay in the public's minds. Give it a year and some of these might be forgotten about.

Hadn't watched any of the episodes this season, but switched over yesterday when i saw everyone moaning, quite enjoyed that James Arthurs survival song though...

Yes he is quality, him and Ella were the only good one's. X Factor has completely had it now, people have called it shit for years, sometimes I think it but it's one of those shows I can't help watching lol

James Arthur has some good vids on youtube as well of his own songs, worth a listen tbh.

What is deadlock?

I saw an advert for the show a few weeks back, and Louis said that he couldn't do it, and pressed a button and the set went red and it was "DEADLOCK" the other judges were shocked, angry and people were crying and walking through doors quickly...

I was baffled, it is supposed to be a singing show, I think it has forgotten its purpose as a tv show, to sell records, delude people into believing they can also become famous by being on the show, then humiliating the deluded next season.

If the judges are tied, ie. 2 each, it goes to the public vote. Which makes you wonder why they bother with the judges in the first place.

Spot on there I thougtht exactly the same when she was about blubbing cos her act got voted off, only the other week like you said she voted to keep Rylan in instead of keeping in Kye(sorry if the spelling is wrong) who was by far the better singer, the word hypocrite springs to mind, I am pleased she has no acts remaining, you reap what you sow. Also Louis is all out for himself voting to keep the girl in instead of James therefore trying to eliminate the greatest rival to his little boy band.

So they sing, have a public vote, then the bottom 2 have a sing-off and then the judges vote to save one of them, but obviously those that mentor the ones in the sing-off vote for their own, and so it is the opinion of 2 judges really, and if they differ it goes back to the public vote, or they have another public vote.

Seems complex, but I just don't understand why it seemed like such a big drama.

If they are voting tactically then it truly has sunk to a new low, I do just think that the way they ramp up the drama and try and make it as controversial as possible is why a lot of people get turned off by it, so much of it is about the judges and the hype it is a bit pathetic really.

You've hit the nail on the head, the point of the show (apparently) is to be to dramatic, controversial and therefore, supposedly 'entertaining'. When it was Pop Idol it was about singers trying to make it big. Now it's just about people seeking attention; the contestants, the judges, everyone involved in the show. 'Any publicity is good publicity'. People love something to get annoyed and worked up about, just like a lot of us do with the footy ;)

Sadly, they know the British public are a bunch of absolute morons who will continue to watch it and get emotionally involved. Despite watching it year after year some still haven't cottoned onto the fact that it is all staged to be as controversial as possible. There will always be 1 talentless act who is beyond annoying (and probably Irish) but is kept on usually at the expense of at least one of the decent ones because it's 'dramatic'. Oh the injustice!

Without trying to disrespect anyone on here, it's a show for retards. That is, if you take it seriously.

Drinking during pregnancy increases likelihood of giving birth to X Factor fan

x-factor-drinking.jpg

Drinking one or two glasses of wine a week during pregnancy is likely to impact a child’s IQ so severely it might grow up to become an X Factor fan, a new study suggests.

Researchers from Oxford and Bristol universities looked at the IQ scores of 4,000 children, as well as recording the alcohol intake of their mothers, before finding that those with the lowest IQ scores were far more likely to be seen sat in front of the television on a Saturday night.

Lead researcher, Bruce Melton, hoped the findings would act as a warning to expectant mothers hoping to raise a child with remotely admirable qualities.

“Some till argue that drinking during pregnancy is an essential stress reliever for expectant mothers, but it clearly leads to the horror of a fully fledged, mentally challenged, X Factor fan.†he told an assembled audience.

“If someone told you one glass of that Bordeaux each evening was going to guarantee you a teenager with a reading age of 9, but who could spot Louis Walsh across a crowded room, we’re pretty sure that would be enough to make women stop and think.â€

Drinking during pregnancy

X Factor assistant producer, Simon Williams, was shocked at the news but stopped short of encouraging women to take a 9-month period of abstinence.

He told us, “What with the increasing competition from Strictly Come Dancing, we need all the help we can get.â€

“I wonder if a mother doubled her intake, could it lead to the birth of someone willing to watch Xtra Factor on ITV2?â€
