Salieri Posted 11 September 2009 Posted 11 September 2009 Being quite a spiritual person, the "ghost writing" part interested me the most. I've partaken in many ouija board sessions with all manner of different people and witnessed some seriously weird shit! So....i decided to try it myself. Got a pen and paper, got myself into a deeply relaxed state and was barely unaware of my hand moving. I shit you not, i had written (albeit a bit scrawly) 6 numbers, which ive now of course entered in saturdays lottery! I don't expect to win, but it's a good laugh anyway! Feel free to take the piss!

Feel free to take the piss! ok - you moron! You set out to write down six numbers - so your unawareness isn't unawareness at all. You still know that you're required to write down the six numbers. Like next week, the vast majority will start watching and EXPECT to get stuck. The other lot will still have it the back of their minds. Tonight proved to me that the draw was a trick. He left those 24 people believing they had just picked the winning numbers. Exactly like the horse racing woman. He manipulates people fantastically. Why didn't he show us the balls before the draw, why didn't he show the 24 people the balls before the draw?
potter3 Posted 11 September 2009 Posted 11 September 2009 Blatantly struck a deal with the lottery guys, "you let me fix the machine one week, and I guarantee you an upsurge in lottery ticket sales in the following few weeks"
Big Ol' Bob Posted 11 September 2009 Posted 11 September 2009 SPLIT SCREEN, SPLIT SCREEN, SPLIT SCREEN....
Nationwider Posted 11 September 2009 Posted 11 September 2009 All that Wisdom of the Crowd bollocks was hysterical. It just cannot fit with lottery numbers. It just goes to show why so many people succumb to lottery system scams year after year. Not his best ever show, but probably just a cheap ratings winner to reel people in for some more interesting illusions in the remaining programmes. The real explantion will most probably be a very tame TV editing trick - BBC and Camelot would never have let C4 anywhere near their product unless they were basically in on the scam anyway.
Daggers Posted 11 September 2009 Posted 11 September 2009 Jesus. You sit in your rooms lit by electricity, conversing with anonymous people on the computers linked by the internet, in a world championing the benefits of science and engineering - and then grasp at mumbojumbo bullshit and trickery because it appeals to your ignorance. Physics and mathematics were too hard to grasp despite the intrinsic beauty of the subjects because you actually had to think. People of the world, I piss on you.
stez Posted 11 September 2009 Posted 11 September 2009 we'll have fun, fun, fun 'til daddy took the f-word away

Monk Posted 11 September 2009 Posted 11 September 2009 It still seems that the split screen is the most likely explanation. All of the other tricks in tonights show can be easily explained Found it rather insulting with the whole maths thing, statistically not only does it make no difference how many people you get to guess, but also it would skew the numbers towards the mean. For example, picking a 2 would require a very small variance in the selections by the group, picking a 20 can have a huge variance because it is closer to the mean. I can still see many people being fooled by this but the tricks really were utter bollocks - the fact that the stamping on cups thing was filmed beforehand - you only have film it a number of times with different people to find one matching the prediction.

Babylon Posted 12 September 2009 Posted 12 September 2009 8 minutes of split screen for the trick and 60 minutes worth of misdirection.

DJ Barry Hammond Posted 12 September 2009 Posted 12 September 2009 The interesting thing will be tonights/next weeks drawd... how many people will have tried this Derren Brown thing - enough I expect, so I can see the paper being full of 'Derren Brown helped me win the lotto stories, despite them only winning a tenner!' Lets be fair though - the Euro Millions is where it is at! One last thing - the experiment on here is not the same as Derren's as he had the past draws numbers for the people to look at. The subconcious mind is a wonderful thing, so maybe that part of the brain could see a pattern?
