Stewart Lee's Comedy Vehicle

The sort of comedy where the people who find it funny think that they only find it funny because they "get it" and nobody else does.

You seriously think people work out the percentages of others finding something amusing before laughing?

Maybe it's niche because it only appeals to people with a certain mindset and not because they have an elitist bent.

I want to find him funny, but I just don't. After awhile the constant sarcastic berating and ridicule of everything gets very boring.

No. I don't. Which was sort of my point.

Just watched the TV one. Excellent again. He just tweaks my comedy nipple. I love the repetition he builds into some of the segments - he's done this kind of thing before, but I don't remember it being such an integral part of the act. Looking forward to watching no.3....

Gotta say i was really lokking forward to this series when i heard about it, love his other work. But so far this series has been a little hit and miss for me, not as good as i was hoping for, but there's still time...

I've tried and tried... but I can't raise more than a brief smile at his material. The pace is too slow for me and anything remotely funny just gets cancelled out by his smugness.

He just reminds me of really up themselves tossers, who come back from University thinking they suddenly know the answers to everything. Spouting off their "opinions"... when in fact it's just something from a book they are repeating word for word.

What's mine is yours!!! I'm also in a relationship with Singh, so you have to service him first.

Anybody going to see him at Curve on Sunday?

Saw his new show, 'Vegetable Stew' in Wolverhampton last night, which was very good although not as good as 'If you prefer a milder comedian please ask for one'. This might be because when I saw that it was further in to the run and it was a bit more fine tuned. The current tour is a short one, the material apparently being roadtested for inclusion in the next series of the Comedy Vehicle.

I was interested to see the views in this thread. I'm a massive fan, but that's perhaps not that surprising as I generally don't enjoy stand up comedy. A few have said that they find him very smug, but I really don't - I think he's far more intelligent and humble than the vast majority of comedians
