One comment made me a bit mad this morning. I really like Stephen Fry and I hope he was slyly highlighting the ridiculous amount of press and outpouring of emotion that we've seen, when he said "Jade was like Princess Diana, but from the wrong side of the tracks".

No Stephen, she really wasn't. I really hope you already knew that, you're way to smart for comments like that.

She was a bit. They were both plastered all over the media as if we should have been interested in them, and I was equally uninterested in them both

Well that's what I hoped he was trying to say... but as you can imagine, that's not the way the media put it across.

Standard then.

Media will attack anything someone says.

Goody had very little education and has spent her life trying to make something of herself against all odds.

Self appointed intellectual snobs can sneer all they like that Goody was “famous for doing nothing” — but so are the Royal Family and the whole useless aristocracy, those well-connected nobodies falling out of Boujis after downing one too many of the charmingly-named “Crack Baby” cocktails.

It’s the British way!

By making a fool of herself on national TV (I realise she isn't the only person ever to do this).

She didn't try to make something of herself at all - not in a good way anyway.

So what if she had very little education? Alan Sugar had little education - look where he is now.

And how is it against all odds?? It's not like it was impossible. She became a victim of the celebrity culture after her time in BB.

And by the way, what/who are Boujis :P ??

I hope she has Adam Ant playing at the funeral, all her peers had a cracking sense of humour according to the program about her wedding

Seriously, this did make me pause and think for 3 seconds on Sunday, she saved more lives than I ever will and she deserves a small place in 00's culture.

There isn't really a celebrity culture after BB, Jade Goody is the most famous house mate ever (I'm not talking about CBB), thats a fact..fair play for what she did, she milked the limelight, like anyone of us would. Many, many a people who have been on big brother, intelligent or not have made a fool of them selves on National TV, she had the bollocks to take that foolery on, make something of her self, make money and provide a sustainable future for her two kids...

I didn't particularly like Jade Good, though having said that... I respect her for making as much money as she could for her kids.

If my Mum or sister, or any female member of my family are saved from cancer due to the early smeer testing ages that shes had an influence on, I can thank Jade Goody for that.

Realised this today, so fuck anyone who says she did nothing.

Glad I saw some sense with this matter.

It seemed to me she lived her life like a candle in the wind.

Ever so slightly dim you mean?

My feelings on this issue can best be described using the word " meh ".

I never once was interested in Jade Goody (or any other celebrity) cos being interested in celebrity is the fanny way of life. But to talk shit about people when they die as some have done is just wrong.

What I gathered from the incessant coverage of her was that she was more concerned with raising money for her kids and tying up loose ends than spreading awareness and raising money to combat the disease for future generations. I think it's a bit rich to imply Goody was some sort of hero for bringing cervical cancer to the attention masses when it's actually just because of the obsessive celebrity culture that prevails in this country.

Am I right in hearing that there is to be a memorial statue of her erected somewhere in London?!

Where did you hear it?
