CasperBlue Posted 4 April 2009 Posted 4 April 2009 Put it this way, i'd rather Peterborough beat Millwall than the other way around. Distance to third is all i ever look at. Good point!!
soley118 Posted 4 April 2009 Posted 4 April 2009 Its now looking less and less likely that we will win the league with our poor form and peterboroughs run. but do you care so long as we go up? Not really the main thing is getting out this league
SussexFox Posted 4 April 2009 Posted 4 April 2009 Leicester City will finish in second place the final table will look like this>>Peterborough 93 pts Leicester 91 pts Millwall 87 pts It was very obvious to me after the 1st 6 games that we are a poor team in a very poor league. This current team would finish between 14th and 18th in the championship. I cant see Millwall getting another 11 points from 5 games i reckon 87 would do us for promotion I couldn't care less about being champions now i just want us to get out of this league
Katy Posted 4 April 2009 Posted 4 April 2009 Yeah, I care. Being 12 points clear at one point only to see Leicester fook up and reduce it down to two pisses me off one hell of a lot. We are always the bridesmaid, never the bride - remember Portsmouth? I want us to be first in something for a change. fooking sort it Leicester, I wanna be Champions of League One!
breadandcheese Posted 5 April 2009 Posted 5 April 2009 Yeah, I care. Can't agree more. To go up in second will feel like a loss after suge a huge lead.
Heart-Shaped Fox Posted 5 April 2009 Posted 5 April 2009 We set our stall out, went top by 12 points. If we don't win the league I really think it will have a negative effect on the team for next season
spirefox Posted 5 April 2009 Posted 5 April 2009 I care about going up as Champions for the supporters who have never seen us win anything and those who have suffered our embarassing fall down the leagues, but I just want out of this division so I can erase it from my memory.I won't celebrate or buy any cememorative souvenirs if we do win the third division and I don't want it putting on our "trophy" list in the programme. It has been a living nightmare since last May and I just want to wake up and pretend it didn't happen.

The majority of fans will go with that. The playing contingent though - no chance.
Tilley Posted 5 April 2009 Posted 5 April 2009 After leading the way for so long with so many points, it'll be a fucking joke if we don't win the league.
BrockwellFox Posted 5 April 2009 Posted 5 April 2009 would love to win it at the first (and hopefully only!) attempt and would be gutted not to, but truth be told I don't give a toss if we have to fluke it on penalties in the playoffs, as long as we go up that's all that matters to me.
Salieri Posted 5 April 2009 Posted 5 April 2009 would love to win it at the first (and hopefully only!) attempt and would be gutted not to, but truth be told I don't give a toss if we have to fluke it on penalties in the playoffs, as long as we go up that's all that matters to me. If we ended up in the Play Offs I'd be AMAZED if we made the final, let alone win it. The morale and confidence would be rock bottom if we missed out on automatic promotion.
Guest Bilo Posted 5 April 2009 Posted 5 April 2009 At this point, I just want us to go up to be honest. We're clearly choking and I just hope that I'm right in saying that it's too late in the day for Millwall or anyone else to capitalise. Second place would be disappointing after being top since November, but we're probably going to have to get used to the idea. Although it would be a blow to lose the title, it won't make any difference come August as we would still be in the Championship at the first attempt and I doubt anybody would have been too upset with automatic promotion as runners-up this time last year.
Daggers Posted 5 April 2009 Posted 5 April 2009 Yes. Yes I care. Being Champions after dominating this division for so long is the most important thing to me. I don't doubt that we will get promoted but I don't think I'll feel like celebrating second spot in May. 9 points from the Easter games please boys
lou Posted 5 April 2009 Posted 5 April 2009 Knowing us we'll lose at Hereford then win against Leeds and Scunny ha ha! Im very worried and will take 2nd place right now if offered.
Alexikokopops Posted 5 April 2009 Posted 5 April 2009 I said at the beginning of the season that I didn't care how we went up, even if it was through the play-offs. Given the lead we had at one point though it'd be disappointing not to go up as Champions. At the end of the day though I stand by my early season sentiments.

Given the lead we had at one point though it'd be disappointing not to go up as Champions. At the end of the day though I stand by my early season sentiments. I think this is spot on. Offered second place in August we'd have grabbed it and run back to the championship. But offered it at the beginning of February we'd have laughed. Did laugh, in fact, when the Posh chairman made his 'arrogant' claim that they could catch us and claim the title. We'll feel pissed off if we lose the title, but we'll still be playing Newcastle next season...
Corky Posted 5 April 2009 Posted 5 April 2009 I want the title, but I want promotion more. I just want to go up.
iancognito Posted 5 April 2009 Posted 5 April 2009 At the start of the season if someone had said two points clear with five to go, most people would have taken that but given where we were a month ago, it all looks a bit more tense and now I actually care. For the simple reason I don't think Millwall will catch us we'll go up, but having dominated the season I'll be annoyed if the boys don't see it through as league winners.

leicesterseddon Posted 5 April 2009 Posted 5 April 2009 To be honest I don't know what to think at the minute. Leaving the ground yesterday I felt convinced that we're going to blow it, but on reflection I'm feeling slightly more optimistic about simply going up. I am now certain that we will not win this league - peterborough have kept up a good string of performances, whilst our form has dipped horrendously. After dominating this league for 2/3rds of the season, we are in the midst of bottling it. Granted we've only lost recently against peterborough, but drawing 6 out of our last 7 matches at this stage of the season is just not good enough to go up as champions I feel, considering the form of the teams below us. That said, we still have a 7 point lead over 3rd with only 5 games left, and a much better goal difference than both peterborough and milwall, which is worth an effective point if things still did go down to the wire. Remember millwall and peterborough still have to play each other, and that it's unlikely millwall will win all of their final 5 games. Stumbling across the finishing line is something i won't be proud of, but if we go up i'll be happy. what really makes me angry is the way NP has let a squad of players who have proven themselves capable of dominating this league go to pot at this stage of the season. i still think he's done a good job in a difficult situation, but at the minute i feel like he has no plan B - and he wasn't exactly animated on the touchline yesterday either. i know calmness is needed at this stage of the season, but right now i wish he'd show some more obvious leadership
lcfc_jme Posted 5 April 2009 Posted 5 April 2009 Following on from what I said in the Tigers thread, we're finishing at our lowest league position ever regardless of winning the league or finishing 2nd, so it's all relative. Championship would be nice, but promotion is vital either way. We dominated the division up until x-mas / the turn of the year, and it seemed we'd breeze the league. Since then, we've been found out, look ordinary and have no Plan B. Nothing like the sort of form which saw us storm miles ahead. In essence, I suppose I'd like us to win the league but it's not something I'd brag about and as long as we get promoted, I'll be happy come May.
The Doctor Posted 6 April 2009 Posted 6 April 2009 Its now looking less and less likely that we will win the league with our poor form and peterboroughs run. but do you care so long as we go up? Yes, to blow the title after how long we have led the league for is a discrace
Dr The Singh Posted 6 April 2009 Posted 6 April 2009 Yes, to blow the title after how long we have led the league for is a discrace It would be embarassing not to win the title, but at this moment and time I can see foooking the whole thing up, so if someone was going to offer me promotion at the cost of the title, I would snap there hands off!!!
CosbehFox Posted 6 April 2009 Posted 6 April 2009 I want the title, but I want promotion more. I just want to go up. I just want it done and dusted. I have had enough thrills for the season.
Filbert_Ross Posted 6 April 2009 Posted 6 April 2009 i over heard someone in the pub after saturdays game saying 'we could do with Millwall beating Peterborough next week'. i thought to myself- your joking aint ya? keep millwall as far away from us as poss.
