Daggers Posted 1 December 2010 Posted 1 December 2010 pretty much. I don't want to be paying for any of it unless i get something out of it. scotland won't qualify and leicester isn't hosting it so what do i get out of it? I'm prepared to give my consent in return for a brace of tickets and a 75% discount on the over-priced Fish'n'Chips at Wembley.
Daggers Posted 1 December 2010 Posted 1 December 2010 Whoop! http://www.channel4.com/news/world-cup-bid-is-in-the-bag-for-england
Guest ttfn Posted 1 December 2010 Posted 1 December 2010 Whoop! http://www.channel4.com/news/world-cup-bid-is-in-the-bag-for-england Does that not just mean warner's vote is in the bag? He can't speak for everyone. I've got 40 quid on Russia at 13/8. I'm counting my winnings already; this has "fix" written all over it.
Bert Posted 1 December 2010 Posted 1 December 2010 A Facebook page has been created saying birmingham fans have cost us the world cup. Yeah right, doesn't happen all the time in russia does it.
Jimmy Posted 1 December 2010 Posted 1 December 2010 Spain isn't exactly a peaceful paradise of footballing love either, also a Russian club got done because their fans unveiled a racist banner celebrating Peter Odemwinge leaving
Jordan Posted 2 December 2010 Posted 2 December 2010 Does that not just mean warner's vote is in the bag? He can't speak for everyone. I've got 40 quid on Russia at 13/8. I'm counting my winnings already; this has "fix" written all over it. It seemed sure that Warner and CONCACAF were going to back England after England and the USSF made their gentlemen's agreement that England would drop out of the 2022 bidding while the U.S. would back out of 2018. If that means there's an English ally in the ExCom that will back our bid, then I'm all for this! Ha. I'd be very happy for England if they prevail (seemingly against some odds due to Russia). I'm not entirely confident that the American bid will win even though it is the best in the 2022 race. I hope the ExCom eschews the AFC bids and goes U.S., because I wonder if some of them would save the next World Cup in Asia for 2026 for the nation they really would like to see host: China. Then again, quid pro quo has a funny way of causing sudden, temporary myopia in ExCom members.
Finnegan Posted 2 December 2010 Posted 2 December 2010 Just want to point out that England have the single laziest, blandest world cup logo I've ever seen.
SOCCERROO FOX Posted 2 December 2010 Posted 2 December 2010 I'm super nervous pulling an all nighter to watch the bid, I think Qatar will probably get the 2022 bid as Qatar's leader is the Asian Fifa chairmen.
Fox You Forest Posted 2 December 2010 Posted 2 December 2010 What could possibly go wrong with Boris Johnson out there.
Wycombe Fox Posted 2 December 2010 Posted 2 December 2010 Beckham keeps raising his right hand and it's really annoying me.
StanSP Posted 2 December 2010 Posted 2 December 2010 Just want to point out that England have the single laziest, blandest world cup logo I've ever seen. And their promo video bored the life out of me.
StanSP Posted 2 December 2010 Posted 2 December 2010 Beckham keeps raising his right hand and it's really annoying me. If you're in to this kind of stuff, then you might find it interesting, especially picking up on what other people are doing. I love it http://www.streetdirectory.com/travel_guide/8526/self_improvement_and_motivation/body_language.html
Sly Posted 2 December 2010 Posted 2 December 2010 http://www.firstrow.net/watch/39782/3/watch-fifa-bidders-presentations.html England is showing now.
stripeyfox Posted 2 December 2010 Posted 2 December 2010 anyone got the latest odds ? Can't access gambling sites at work!
Sly Posted 2 December 2010 Posted 2 December 2010 anyone got the latest odds ? Can't access gambling sites at work! According to Bet365, it as follows: 2018: England : 10/11 Russia: 2/1 Portugal and Spain 4/1 Belgium and Netherlands 40/1 2022: Qatar 8/13 USA 3/1 Australia 10/3 Japan 50/1 South Korea 100/1
Jordan Posted 2 December 2010 Posted 2 December 2010 Just want to point out that England have the single laziest, blandest world cup logo I've ever seen. It's just the candidacy logo. They can always give the official tournament logo the London 2012 treatment later.
purpleronnie Posted 2 December 2010 Posted 2 December 2010 I would really love the Aussies to get 2022, I know it would mean problems with time differences but I think it will really help their league, I know 1994 really helped the MLS to be formed and has gone to be more popular than anyone imagined. Thats why I'm surprised the US are favourites over the Aussies, even though I love the US I feel its unfair that they should have it again so soon.
Guest lcfc80 Posted 2 December 2010 Posted 2 December 2010 i hope to god we dont get the thing, Euro 96 went a long way to ruining football in this country introducing the middle class face painted idiots to the game. I dread to think what damage having the world cup here would do, probably be the final nail in the coffin for the working mans game
