davieG Posted 29 July 2009 Posted 29 July 2009 From the OS via my archive DJ Spins In Posted on: Fri 20 Jul 2007 Leicester City have beaten off competition from a host of Championship clubs to sign Birmingham City striker Dudley 'DJ' Campbell for a fee that could rise to £2.1million. Well known for his pace and eye for a goal, the 25-year-old hitman joins the Foxes on a four-year contract and becomes manager Martin Allen's 12th capture of the summer. Despite making only 20 starts during his first full season at St. Andrew's, Campbell scored an impressive 12 goals to play his part in the successful promotion bid.

DANGEROUS TIGER Posted 29 July 2009 Posted 29 July 2009 thanks, thats bad news Bad news! Bad news! It's not bad news, it's bloody disasterous news! If only I could get my hands on the little turd. I'd like to tie his todger in a knot, fill his arse with super glue, and force masses of food and drink down his throat.
carterfox90 Posted 30 July 2009 Posted 30 July 2009 It would be beautiful if he went to Coventry. They already have 1-goal-in-30 Eastwood, and add DJ to that potentially exquisite attack. That's what dreams are made of. i hope this dream comes true DJ to cov pure bliss

Samilktray Posted 30 July 2009 Posted 30 July 2009 If he got a decent run of games, I'm sure he'd take back whatever he said. I dont hold anything against him for what he said, football players want to play football, keep him.

But he isn't a footballer, if he wanted to play football he would drop his salary and move. I can't blame him for the salary that he was put on but I can blame him for his lack of footballing skills and brain. As was said on Bentleys, if we have to support his life style then let's fook it up, make himserve the burgers on a saturday afternoon. And go in for training at 7:30pm And we've got the bastard for another 2 seasons as well. His career will be effectively over if he doesn't move

Jon the Hat Posted 30 July 2009 Posted 30 July 2009 If DJ got his head down and worked hard, I am sure he could get back into Pearson's plans. He would need to apologise to Pearson and Milan, and to the fans. We will see whether he is man enough to do it. If not I think we will see him back at Blackpool with us paying half his wages again.
Samilktray Posted 30 July 2009 Posted 30 July 2009 I didnt know he ended up Blackpools top scorer last season. Played Dudderz.
Milans Foxes Posted 30 July 2009 Posted 30 July 2009 You can't begrudge the guy not wanting to drop his wage. The guy has only effectively been a professional footballer for less than 4 years and he wouldn't have been earning much at Brentford. Footballers have very short careers, he's already getting on for 28. He will want the best wage possible to provide long-term security for him and his family. At the end of the day, he isn't a terrible player and if we can't get another striker or dj can't find a club to match our wage, we could happily use him as a back-up striker. He proved on loan at blackpool he can still do it! I don't think Lita would be a lot better and would probably demand a higher wage anyway, as would Philips.

He has pace and can finish some of the time, with that bit of confidence, taking back what he said and getting abit more strength/muscle so that he doesn't get nocked off the ball easy thats fine back up for me, providing we get another one/two strikers in as well.

One thing this shows is that how importent it is to get the right manager. I dont think its was MA fault that he signed the DJ. Here is my reasoning, how many times have you seen managers going back to their old clubs or going to other clubs and getting in players who they know all about? It happens a lot. Harry Rednapp for example has bought Crouch and Defoe a number of times. Billy Davis at Forest has bought Earnshaw at two different clubs and the list goes on. My point is that ultimately the DJ problem goes back to MM appointment of MA. At the time I dont think MA had managed at CCC level. Hence, had limited contacts of players who had played at CCC or higher. Im sure we signed about 12 or 13 players under MA and most were complete rubbish. MA tried to do the best by us by signing the best player he could at the time with the contacts he had. Unlikely for us that was the DJ. Its a big shame that year when we spent a lot of money think it was around £10m we didn't have the right manager to attract the right players. Therefore, the buck stops with MM. Moving on thank goodness we have NP, whose been around a bit at Championship level and Prem with Newcastle. Lets not forget his contacts at England too. NP will come good with his signings im sure next season when we become a more attractive proposition. Just hoping he can pull one out of the bag this year with Lita. Anyway, at last MM has got it right with NP the future is looking rosey.
DANGEROUS TIGER Posted 4 August 2009 Posted 4 August 2009 I reckon we just have to play him. Judging by some of the names bandied about, he looks the best option.
