Mattock to go or perhaps not!

Solid left-backs are hard to come by, it's well worth persisting with Mattock, he's made the mistakes now and hopefully he'll learn from them and mature.

Clive Clarke looking for a way back into the game isn't he? Doubt we could get him insured though.

we don't need a new left back so long as we have Mattock & Berner (with Powell as a player/coach), Mattock wasn't exactly outclassed when he played in the Championship before and Berner is at the very least more than able back up.

With Pearson and Powell as mentors, Mattock will improve dramatically in the next few years

Cov ain't skint, they won't want to sell, especially to us so you're gunna have to hand over the Mattock fee (and probably more) to them instantly to get Fox

They will if enough is offered. He's only 22 and he's significantly better than Mattock, if Mandaric wants to get into the Premiership as quickly as he can (I'm not saying that Dan Fox will get us there, neither am I expected us to be pushing for promotion), then he's going to have to be buying players that are better than what we have. He's not bothered about seeing players develop, he wants a return on what he's invested so far.

£1.5-.75 million should be enough to get them interested, I reckon.

again though, they would need to replace him so would demand about what we sell Mattock for as they wouldn't want to replace him with someone considerably worse

I just think they'd be willing to sell if the price is right.

Mandaric's "Three Year Plan" and all that jazz. No guarantee that we'd be spending more anyway.

My personal belief is that what ever we were to sell Mattock for Cov would want at least that, Fox is being looked at as a potential Scotland international, is only 22 so he's likely to cost more then we'd make from Mattock and that's assuming his wage demands would be lower

You may be right but I didn't see him improving much this last season.

Or the season before, if anything he's got worse.

Chris Powell is easily the best left back in the Championship, to be honest. Mattock is league two standard at best.

Smuts? :P

If the talk of that Venkov guy for £750,000 is real, I'd be OK will selling Mattock for £2m. But, whether or not Venkov can attack, I don't know. I'm not really bothered if he goes or not to be honest, everytime I watched him play last season, he only really looked reasonable.

Mattock missed 2 months of the with an injury and came back in cold and struggled, he didn't exactly get much help from Dyer either

So Mattock hates the cold as well? :giggle:

Let's be honest here people. We all know it, yet we seem unwilling to admit it.

Mattock. Is. Overrated.

And that's it.

no he's over hyped by the Media, if anything he's underrated as he receives the most criticism of any 1st team regular as people listen to the hype and expect him to be better then Ashley Cole

Agreed, at least 75% of this forum don't rate him at all.

yes..but...what does NP think?

We put our faith in NP finding some great players and improving them, if he sticks with Mattock, as it appears he has during this season, i think we can assume that Mattock has a future.

Saw Mattock in the highcross yesterday going down the escalator, acting like a complete willy puller. Nevermind whether he is good or not, It took me 15 seconds to make out what kind of a guy he is. the whole 'playing for Leicester' thing has gone to his head

Was he running down the going-up escalator?

I'd imagine there are only a limited number of ways to act like a complete willy puller while going down an escalator.

Was he in a wardrobe?
