Mattock to go or perhaps not!

Do people really want 2 million for Mattock. I despair. He is 19 and will be a real star. If he goes eventually lets see a Gary Lineker approach when he hits the full England squad and we get 40 million.

I remember him at Barnsley 2 yeras ago. Head and shoulders above any other Leicester player. It cant be underestimated how a Leicester lad will perform in this type of match to keep us up. Oh short memories...

And then maybe one day he'll become God, but not after we sell him for £1,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000. I don't like to get ahead of myself but I think it's going to happen.

i know for a fact hes just had a massive wage increase ...so if he goes it will because leicester (milan) want the money........hes young and one for the future ..with us !

Personally if I was Mattock, a Leicester lad, grew up and supported the team all his life why would you consider going to a club in the same league?

Not only would your club hate you for leaving for a club in the same league, but also not even taking the chance to step up a division?

He is a quality player and he will get better, Leicester are a big club if we were to have a good season and he played well he would get a prem club after him again...

So I wouldnt listen to the crap rumours flying about, he won't leave for a club in the championship and if a premiership club does bid and he decides to go, then fair play!! Anybody would do the same!!

If we got offerd 2m for him and could get McGivern on loan then Milan would probably fo for it.

If that 2m meant that we had money to bring in players in the december window and it made a difference then I think most would be happy.

Its not always down to the player.. Matt Piper sobbed when we sold him to Sunderland. If the club wants the money then they will sell.

Not that I think there is anything to most of these rumours.

ALBION are considering a move for Leicester City defender Joe Mattock.

The Baggies pulled the plug on Chilean utility man Gonzalo Jara last night because they intend to allocate funds to other, more needy positions.

Those include full-back and up front, where they remain short of numbers.

Mattock, who can play at left-back, has been monitored for some time by Albion and was initially considered as a target last year when the club were still in the top flight.

But Paul Robinson’s failure to earn a move elsewhere at the time prompted Albion to shelve their interest then.

His departure and Marek Cech’s indifferent form has forced Albion to look elsewhere.

Mattock has played 73 times for Leicester and would command a sizable fee if Albion were to pursue their initial interest in the 19-year-old.

The Baggies tried to sign Daniel Fox a few weeks ago. Although they had a bid accepted by Coventry City, the young left-back opted to join Celtic. They have also been linked with Millwall’s Zak Whitbread by sources in south London, but those reports are wide of the mark.

I live over near West Brom and I know someone very much in at the club.

He had confirmed they didn't sign Jara the Chilean centre back because of there desire to sign a full back. He has since confirmed that West Brom's two targets are Joe Mattock & Jermaine Beckford. He mentioned they've bid 2.5m for Beckford but hasn't mentioned a Mattock bid yet. But he is on their wish list.

So I'm not saying he is leaving but the reports of their interest are true.

I will keep you informed if I hear anything from the West Mids

They may make him a wage offer that set him up for life, and may not be able to refuse. I know that sounds bad, and all footballers are mercenaries but if you got offer alot more money doing the same job you would take it.

Which is what i believe we have done too Richie Wellens.

Is he REALLY a quality player?

I think this 'Leicester Lad' stuff is bollocks. Stearman soon jumped ship and is probably on double to what he was earning at lcfc and he was a local lad through the academy etc.

WBA will be able to pay Mattock more and they have a much better chance of going up this coming season than Leicester do. They are up and down like a yo-yo.

If I was JM I would go wherever paid me the most. Ask yourself, if you got a 50% pay rise to move to a job in Birmngham with better prospects etc then many people would! He hasn't got any kids or anything so he's a free ranger. He would get a better chance of England football aswell if he was playing in a better side. If it is £2m then I would snap their hands off.

Totally agree and as someone else mentioned if the club want to get rid you're gone.

Stearman was born in Wolves and moved here at about 9 or 10, he was never a local lad just an academy graduate

that's bollocks, I remember us accepting a bid from Middlesbrough for Muzzy and he turned them down, just because the bid is accepted doesn't mean you have to leave

So aggressive!

The club HAD to accept the offer from Boro, doesn't mean they wanted him to leave and I'm sure they made that perfectly clear to him.

If we accepted an offer now it would be because we want him to leave, either for the money or because NFP thinks he can get better.

At that point Mattock would be a fool to dig his heels in and stay.

And if you think that is bollocks well please wind your neck in before replying.

I agree and as for Stearman, he was crap anyway...it always amazed me how he was classed as a good player....he cant control, he cant tackle (he dives in like a 6yr old), how he even manages to get a game at wolves amazes me........

JM is a quality player, hes 19 years old, we all know he is no Rooney and going to explode onto the scene at 19 but he is still better than most players in the team.....and at 19 that is good going!!

I do understand what u mean by moving for more money and football is a job were u need to get as much in as u can before u retire or get injured and cant play anymore.......but I think it is time that we held on to people like this...we wont build as a club if all our good youth players keep being sold, we should be holding on to these players for the future and building the squad, rather than getting a poxy 2m for him.....Mandaric always said he would pump cash into the team to get us back to the Premier League shorly selling all our best players isn't going to make that happen any quicker....

Just my opinion!! :D

Seriously where is their money coming from?

He won't go anyway, no advantages in going to them.

I think the Forest chairman/owner was the owner of Umbro, i'm sure Nike brought them out.*

*Dont quote me on this tho.

Yes they did. I think he was a major shareholder in capital one as well. I'm surprised they no longer sponsor them

Linked with WBA now.

So the guy from Sunderland is confirmed in a few news items but not yet announced.

Does that mean McGivern is also coming in but not yet confirmed?

Will there be a spate of loans announced within the next 2 weeks?

Osbourne?

Cleverley?

A goalie?

Makes sense with Robinson going to Bolton.

Don't sell Mattock though, not at that underated price.
